I reached out to Busy Bee Movers a couple of weeks ago using Yelp of all places . Nick and I did a Zoom call to go over what the move would entail and he laid out the costs ahead of time. We needed 3 movers and about 6 hour total in the end. I told him in no uncertain terms I did not want any entitled lazy Americans moving my house! I want Russian, Uzbeks, Ukrainians or Kazakhstan decent movers. Hardest damn workers you'll ever meet. Thankfully the owners are from Kazakhstan so I knew I was in good hands. Moving sucks! And moving companies know this. They are really in the service business, to make your life better on a very exhausting and stressful day. Let's be honest the day of the move isn't even that bad. You have the movers at the house doing all the heavy lifting. It's all the days leading up to the move where you're packing and taking little things over to the house and making multiple trips that's exhausting. So when these guys show up at your house, they know it's all about smiles and friendliness. Daniel, the crew leader was like Walt Disney. The guy oozed joy and a great attitude. The other 2 guys were from Kazakhstan so it goes without saying they worked like champions and never slowed down. In the end these guys were machines. A lot of this response is just not accurate. The dock wait was 20 minutes, not 30. The elevator is shared because it's an apartment building, that's not an unexpected complication, that's just reality. Your crew took the long way to the drop-off instead of the freeway, which was a 10-15 minute drive. And at that stop, we told them to grab the fridge and shed parts first, they had it blocked behind a big random box and a smoker. Also, nobody from your company ever asked for a detailed item list. No walkthrough, no call, nothing. We got an hourly rate. If you needed more info to plan the job properly, you should have asked. We paid $781 for a move where half the stuff was already gone the day before and we were helping the whole time. The response here is just deflection. Review stands. read more

I had a great experience with Busy Bee Movers. I first contacted Nick for a moving estimate, and he was very polite, helpful, responsive, and quick to reply to all my questions. The movers they sent were extremely efficient, knowledgeable, and professional. They carefully blanket-wrapped all of our furniture and moved everything quickly while still being very careful. The price quoted was very reasonable for the level of service we received, and overall we were very satisfied. Our lead mover, Dan, was especially outstanding. He went above and beyond by helping us install our flat-screen TV at the new house for a small additional fee, and the installation was done professionally. Dan and his partner were both hardworking, friendly, and great to work with--two excellent guys. The only small downside was that the "on-the-road" travel time ended up being charged double, which was not clearly mentioned in the initial quote by Busy Bee Movers as the owner of company said is required by California law. I would suggest that this be explained upfront in the future. Aside from that, everything went very smoothly. Everything went extremely smoothly with my move. Nick in the office was really helpful getting it scheduled -- I ended up needing to postpone the date and he was completely accommodating. On moving day, Daniel and Nick showed up right on time and immediately got busy loading everything on the truck. And unloading went just as smooth. 1 star Review Do NOT be fooled by the low hourly rate. It may look cheap at first, but you will likely end up paying more because the move drags on far longer than it should. We moved from a 600 sq ft 1-bedroom ADU into a 1-bedroom apartment, and most of our items were already packed. The day before the move, my boyfriend and his friend had already moved about half of our belongings, including almost everything from the kitchen. In other words, the movers had significantly less work than a normal move. Despite that, the move somehow took 7 hours and 15 minutes. For comparison, our previous move with more items took about 5 hours total in a single move, which made this timeline extremely questionable. During the move we repeatedly noticed the workers: * wrapping items extremely slowly * standing around doing nothing and staring off for long stretches * picking up small random items instead of prioritizing large furniture, even when asked to focus on the bigger pieces * moving with absolutely no sense of urgency On top of that, my boyfriend, his friend, and I were also helping move items during the process, which should have made the move go even faster. The driving distance was also extremely short. One stop was only 10 minutes away, and our new apartment was about 8 minutes away. Even at the first stop, there was very little to move. They only moved a fridge, two pieces of a shed, and a small plastic shelf. We had also told them multiple times to load the fridge last since we needed to drop it off first, but they blocked it with a smoker. Because of that, they had to remove the smoker first, move the fridge, and then move the smoker again, wasting additional time. They also left for the first stop before my boyfriend and his friend, yet somehow arrived 10-15 minutes after them, even though they already had the address and it was a straightforward residential location. It took them so long that my boyfriend even had to call the owner to ask where they were. There is simply no logical reason a small 600 sq ft move with half the items already gone should take over 7 hours, especially when they also had help. We ended up paying $781 in cash, and it would have been even more otherwise since Zelle or other payment apps are charged at a higher rate. When we contacted the owner afterward to express concerns about how unusually long the move took, he refused to adjust the price, became extremely defensive, and said he doesn't mind receiving a bad review. At the end of the day, the low hourly rate feels misleading because the slow pace completely cancels out any savings. A company with a higher hourly rate but efficient movers would likely finish in half the time and cost the same or even less. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind during an already stressful move, I strongly recommend choosing a different moving company. For reference, I've attached photos showing the amount of furniture that was moved, plus 3 clothing hanger boxes (contained clothes and miscellaneous items) and a larger fridge (which we helped bring out) that are not pictured. In the photo with all the boxes, we had already moved almost all of them ourselves the day before. The movers only handled the four boxes in the middle of that photo with tape on them. You can decide for yourself whether this looks like a 7 hour and 15 minute, nearly $800 job. EDIT: The owner claimed that another moving company slowed things down because of the elevator. In reality, the elevator was never tied up, and the other move actually finished while ours was still going. I also have time-stamped messages from during the move where we were already discussing how unusually slow the pace was at the first location, before the truck had even left. The owner is now claiming this situation is "review manipulation" because multiple people who were physically present during the move left reviews about the same experience. Three people were there the entire time helping with the move, so of course their accounts of what happened are similar. They all witnessed the same job. Leaving an honest, real review about our experience is exactly what review platforms exist for. The owner is free to disagree, but he was not present during the move at all, so his response is based on what he was told afterwards. Trying to frame multiple witnesses sharing the same experience as "review manipulation" and trying to remove them says more about how this company handles criticism than anything else. read more
