After spending the morning at Ruth Bancroft Garden having a Burmese meal sounds like a good plan. We ordered grilled salmon with lemon grass, tea leaf salad, garlic noodle, and Indian basmati rice. I think only the tea leaf is worth repeating. I didn't really taste any lemon grass in the salmon. Garlic noodle is like a wet pasta soaked in tomato sauce. It did say that it will be different than the Vietnamese garlic noodle, which is fine but I am not fond too much of the flavor. Tge salmon and the noodle taste almost the same. Service was pretty good. Love the outdoor seating. But I don't think I will come here again for Burmese experience.

We came here about an hour before closing and it wasn't too busy. The service was really good and we had a great time. They didn't rush us at all. Food was good - a little hit or miss - but mostly good. The pineapple fried rice, and pad Thai were mediocre, but the eggplant was very good. Desserts were delicious.

Years later and still consistently one of my fav restaurants. We just got it doordashed for the first time and it was still bomb. We recently branched out from our go to order and tried the Burmese chicken salad, curry, and a beef dish. You can't miss. Everything is delicious. Service is so on it. Even the frickin water is elite!

Burma 2 in Walnut Creek was a great dining experience, especially for plant-based eaters. I should note that my entire meal was vegan since I was sharing with my partner, so this review doesn't reflect the non-vegan options. We started with the tea leaf salad, which was incredible. It came pre-mixed and was perfectly crunchy, fresh, and full of flavor. I honestly couldn't get enough of it. Next, we ordered the basil tofu with coconut rice. The basil tofu was bold and flavorful, and paired beautifully with the coconut rice. It was my first time trying coconut rice, and I absolutely loved it. The little crunchy toppings on top really made it pop. We asked for medium heat on the basil tofu, which didn't feel too spicy to me, so we requested extra sauce, which gave it the kick I was looking for. That said, I love spicy food, so medium heat may be just right, or even a bit much, for others. We also tried the Burma noodle. The server let us know ahead of time that it's typically served lukewarm, which we appreciated. It was good, but not as flavorful as the other dishes. Since we both gravitate toward bold flavors, this one felt a bit lacking in comparison. We agreed it would actually make a great leftover dish. We also ordered a drink, one of the spicy cocktails, though I sadly forgot the name. It was something unique that we hadn't seen before. My partner loved it, and after a sip, I could see why. It was refreshing, flavorful, and paired really well with the food. Everything smelled amazing from the moment it hit the table, and overall, this is definitely a place we'd return to. The vegan options were plentiful and genuinely satisfying, and I never felt like I was missing out by not ordering a non-vegan dish, which says a lot since I'm not vegan, but my partner is. We also noticed a family meal special advertised on the wall for $70, which felt like a great deal. That's something we'll likely try if we do take out.

We were there at lunch time. The lunch specials had a nice sampling of their common dishes. The biryani rice was very flavorful! And don't forget to order a Burmese iced tea too. Service was fast and staff was pleasant.

Ohno Khao Swe - SO GOOD!

Nice to stop by here when the weather is chilly to get some great Burmese food. The waiters were attentive and there was plenty of seating. Ohno Khao Swe is a must-try-- perfectly spiced and aromatic, soothing on a cold day. The tea leaf salad was yummy as well-- fresh leaves and nice crunch. The roti with mixed vegetable curry was a miss-- ended up dipping the roti in the Ohno Khao Swe broth... which was pretty good. Would recommend to stop by if you're in the area!

Went for a later weeknight dinner at Burma 2, and we were warmly welcomed and seated right away. Service started right and was really terrific throughout the meal. The gentleman running the front of the house and our server were both professional and attentive, including ensuring that our water glasses were full and that checking in about our meal. We also took at advantage of their free Sinha beer promo (you get reimbursed $6 online after the meal). We really enjoyed the Burmese curry with lamb over coconut rice, with the curry being mild and thinner but with excellent Burmese flavors and tender chunks of lamb. The sautéed eggplant was also very good, with fresh eggplant complemented by spices and herbs. The palate was also flaky and great to dip into the curry. While we've taken out from Burma 2 several times, it was great to eat in and take advantage of the wonderful service and to eat the dishes fresh out of the kitchen!

It's a bit hard to find parking in the area. There's street parking around but this area is good about giving tickets if you're not on top of feeding the meter. The service was top notch and everyone was not only nice but super quick to get us water and orders in as soon as we were ready. Their walnut shrimp is basically honey walnut prawns. The broccoli and chicken was a healthy option for us with vegetables and protein. It was a tiny bit on the bland side for my taste. The favorite was the garlic noodles that comes with a sweet sauce on the side that you can add to taste. It was garlicky enough and the noodles were perfectly textured. The service was great and the restaurant was very clean. The food was good but it was average.

Pumpkin Curry with Chicken

Delicious Burmese cuisine, friendly attentive service, pleasant upscale ambiance. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit here today ! We came here just for a light lunch. They have a menu with lunch combos, but we elected to order from their dinner/standard menu. We chose: Eggplant & Garlic: For veggies, we selected the "Eggplant & Garlic" dish that combines big slices of eggplant stir fried in a hot wok with garlic, ginger, basil, so sauce and sambal chili. Can't go wrong with that, and sure enough, it was tasty to the last spoonful of the sauce reduction.. The flavors were bang-on great. I might consider adding the shrimp next time, as the sauce reminded me strongly of a dish I had like this in Singapore. SOLID 5/5! For the Eggplant dish as with the curries, I recommend ordering them with a bowl of rice - they have brown rice, jasmine (white) rice, and basmati rice - take your pick. We played it safe with just the jasmine (white) rice - two bowls split between the three of us. Pumpkin Curry: Our other entree was the Pumpkin Curry with an optional meat of your choice (chicken, beef, lamb or shrimp) - or with tofu/veggies if you want to go vegetarian. We chose the chicken, which was presented in thin slices of white meat that was super tender and moist. - Perfectly prepared. Asides from the chicken, the pumpkin curry also includes kobacha squash, coconut milk, broccoli, tender slices of carrot and bay leaf. This too was Excellent (5/5).. We don't get out to this part of the world much, but I definitely look forward to coming back here if I am anywhere nearby, or maybe I'll just make a special trip!. Yup. Highly recommended in my book!

One of my favorite restaurants in the east bay. Their food is always fresh, flavorful and delicious. Their cocktails are very good as well.

food & servers were amazing! everyone is so friendly here and quick to meet your needs. each dish we ordered was packed with flavor. i love a good palata and this was that! i could have eaten a whole meal of just palata and left satisfied. chicken & shrimp biryani was also well balanced in flavor, not too dry. the burmese garlic noodles are pretty much what you expect (don't confuse it with vietnamese garlic noodles tho) -- not a heavy presence of garlic but still enjoyable. i got mine with duck, which did feel a bit gamey or a tad overcooked. overall, i definitely see myself coming back!

Burma 2 is a hidden gem in downtown Walnut Creek that delivers bold, unforgettable flavors in every bite. From the moment you walk in, the warm ambiance and modern decor set the tone for a great dining experience. I tried the Chicken Burmese Pad Thai, Burmese Garlic Noodles, Basil & Dried Chili Lamb and everything was incredibly flavorful and well-balanced. Portions are generous, perfect for sharing. Service was attentive and knowledgeable--they explained the dishes and made great recommendations. The cocktails were creative and paired really well with the spices in the food. Whether you're familiar with Burmese cuisine or trying it for the first time, Burma 2 will blow you away. Can't wait to come back and try more from the menu!

We celebrated Valentine's Day at Burma 2, and their special menu made the night feel even more memorable. From the first course of samosas and tea leaf or mango salad to the flavorful Burmese curry and perfectly seasoned dishes, every plate was beautifully prepared and full of authentic flavor. The Valentine's set menu was thoughtfully curated, generous in portions, and worth every penny. The Strawberry Pomegranate Mojito and sparkling rosé were the perfect festive touch, and dessert (especially the Shwe Gyi or fried banana with ice cream!) was such a sweet ending. Even on a busy holiday, the ambiance was warm and intimate, and the service never missed a beat. This place truly never disappoints -- one of our favorite spots for special occasions

My husband and I came here yesterday for a date night and really enjoyed our meal…read more First off, the drinks were good and really quite strong! I got their lavender cocktail (I forget the actual name) and would definitely get it again. The food was - wow - outstanding! Their salmon had a glorious crispy outside and the potatoes were also nice and crispy. The asparagus was nicely seasoned and the soy glaze on top was delightful. Every bite was *chefs kiss*. My husband also loved his rigatoni. The prices? They aren't cheap. This isn't an every week type of place; but I don't think they are completely out of the ballpark taking into account the quality and location. Drinks are $16-$18 and entrees are ~$25-45 range. The service was very good! Our waiter was very polite and attentive, and staff was very good at clearing our plates, filling water etc. The ambiance? I have mixed feelings on. I love the view, and the decor was nice. Buuut the music was a bit too loud. And it was club type music...Luckily we were in a spot that wasn't fully covered so the sound could escape a little more, but still, I wouldn't say it's fantastic for a romantic evening as it's hard to hear what others at your table are saying. I would say choose softer music, let people enjoy the view and not be overwhelmed by noise. I see a lot of reviews about this place being stingy when it comes to seating you if you don't buy food. Obviously, we didn't face this obstacle as we did intend to order dinner. However, the host did ask us if we were going to order food; and I wonder if we would have said 'no', then we would have been turned away? If so, that's a problem. This restaurant has more far more cocktails than entrees on its menu, so it should not come as a surprise if guests want to come in for a few drinks and nothing else. I can understand that owners don't want people hogging a table if they aren't ordering enough, but there's got to be a better way of doing that. The other common experience I see is people being denied alcohol often. I wonder if part of the reason of this is because A) You have to climb 3 flights of stairs to get there and it's a legal concern or B) Their drinks are very strong so they're trying to be extra careful. All in all, we enjoyed our time, and would come again, but would be afraid to if only desiring libations. lol

The entire collection of wine was exposed to heat and ruined but they are still selling it to unknowing customers. Many of the wines that I inspected had corks bulging out past the foil and were discolored. The Syrah I picked and thought was safe looked good but under the foil, the cork was bad and yes the wine was rancid. I wish that was just a side story but the glass of wine I purchased was also foul. It was the most expensive Napa Cab they serve. I asked a few times how long the bottle was open and he did not know but guessed maybe a night or two before. This tells me a few things; they are not keeping wine fresh or pumping out the air or using a Coravin system for example. They are not writing the date opened even. Also in my personal opinion, the wines here are the lower tier to keep pricing down and profits high. It just makes the experience low for the customer. Lastly I did have a cheese plate and it was also terrible. The staff have no knowledge of wine. So it just ends up being a happy hour place for people to drink cheap wine. I'm sorry for the former failed business and appreciate trying to take it over but the business model is not working. It's not worthy of business woman of the year unfortunately. Lesson learned: Californians know wine!
