Stumbled upon this restaurant while exploring the outdoor mall. We went with a friend who's vegan and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of vegan options available. Had to try my typical dishes (tea leaf salad and chicken coconut curry soup). My friend ordered the vegan version of the coconut curry soup and loved it. Our orders came out pretty quickly and everything tasted really good. Adding this to my list of Burmese restaurants to return to. read more

Ordered: Chicken and Shrimp Briyani Village Catfish Hazy IPA Tea Served 2 People Today we came her to celebrate my BIRTHDAY. Just my mom and I. She never had Burmese cuisine before, but heard good things about it. She was especially excited to try briyani. My favorite was the Briyani. I do wish that the chicken was more tender and that the dish came with more sauce. It came with a lot of sauce, I just love extra sauce. This dish was perfect, and I can't wait to have it again. My mom's favorite dish was the Village Catfish. While I enjoyed it, it would not be something that I would order again. My ONE suggestion would be to ask for some hot sauce on the side. It has a good kick, and pairs well with all the food. I liked how the spice, did not change the flavor profile of the dishes. Some hot sauces will had a taste to food (like vinegar). I wish I asked for some to go. The service provided by Carlos was exceptional! He made our time there very pleasant. I will definitely be coming here again. read more

After visiting & drinking, we ordered: Garlic Noodles with Chicken; Mixed Vegetables Curry; Lamb Kebat; Mint Jalepeno Chicken; coconut rice and fried tofu. All were fantastic! Excellent service and good food. I forgot her name but our waitress was really good and attentive and even offered to swap out the biryani rice because it was too spicy for us. Five stars for her! We got the dry chicken curry, rice and tea leaf salad between the two of us. We were very hungry after a hike and we finished all of the food. I think it is roughly once or twice a year that I enjoy a meal in the Walnut Creek area, either a birthday meal for my cousin and me, or celebrating my Aunt's birthday. So, her birthday is in a week, and this is a place she frequents yet I had yet to go. I am leaving this as a 3 for me, but as a 3.5 for my aunt (as this is one of her faves) While they are unemotional during their service, the restaurant itself was very accommodating in regards to food allergies (and a few personal tastes). Our drinks were always refilled, so while a little "wooden," the service was on point. My dish was a rice noodle dish served with coconut curry, chicken, and a hard boiled egg. It came out hot, and I thought the flavor was amazing....and then a little not so much. I mean, the flavor was still good, but after awhile....it got a little dull. There were not any veggies in it, so the majority of the texture was noodles (with an occasional shred of chicken), and.......for a curry, it was kind of bland. When I say "bland," I mean not flavorless, but....not spicy....and I mean, not at all. It definitely could have used a kick. My Aunt loved her go to's, and the food was definitely attractive enough. Not bad.....and pretty good. Just....I've had better. This falls into my "Probably wouldn't suggest it, but if invited, I would have no problem going" type category. Happy eating, y'all read more

I'm usually a pretty harsh critic on the restaurants in downtown Walnut Creek. The restaurants in the area feel overpriced based on what you get. Burma 2 is an exception - I really liked the meal we had there. We were seated outside. Nice setup on the outside but shade is limited. Our waitress was super friendly and was gracious with her time given it took a while for our whole party to arrive. We didn't know what to get, so she was able to give some great suggestions. We started with appetizers. Both knocked it out of the park. Samosas were beautifully fried with crisp fried spring roll wrappers. The palata - crispy and flaky flatbread with curry. Had to go with the tea leaf salad. Waitress recommended half cabbage, half romaine and I'm glad we went with that selection. All cabbage would have been way too much chewing. Another highly recommended dish. I can't even pick between the other dishes since they were all solid - very flavorful and different from each other. Recommend getting coconut rice as it goes well with most of the dishes. I don't think you can go wrong, but the staff is really helpful if you need some guidance with the menu. read more

I came here with my coworkers and it was my first time eating Burmese food. Let me tell you, if you haven't tried it yet, you need to. The food is so good!!!!!!!!!! We sampled pretty much all of it. I would definitely come back again if I'm in the area. The service is the best, the workers there also have recommendations on what to choose based on our liking pallets. The ambiance is pretty busy. We went to Burma 2 on a Monday early evening and were seated immediately. They do not take reservations but there was plenty of seating during this time. We ordered the tea leaf salad, palata with chicken curry, burmese fried chicken and samosas. All of the dishes were flavored so well! We also ordered drinks. I had the Burmese python which I would order again but it wasn't very spicy. Also, the bartender shared with us a lemon drop yuzu drink that they were thinking of adding to the menu on the house! The restaurant is clean and the service excellent. The waiter checked in on us multiple times and the food came out quickly. I tried this place for Burmese food, and it was nice! We ordered Burma noodles, tea leaf salad, and palata with lamb curry. The noodles are tasty and the lamb curry was soft and tender . The tea leaf salad was good, but I've had better ones before . Felt all are good, fresh & tasty. Their spicy hot sauce is amazing! If you like spicy food, you should try it. The ambience was good , and the service was friendly, but a bit slow . They also have good options for vegans, which is great! 9/24/22 We stopped by Burma 2 for a late lunch after our hike around Mt. Diablo. We were able to park on the same block as the restaurant. The restaurant itself was not busy so we were able to get a table out on the patio quickly. Our waiter brought out menus and refreshing water that was infused with cucumber. Here's what we got to share: 1. Samosas 2. Burmese style lamb curry 3. Palata 4. Burmese garlic noodle with chicken Both appetizers came out in 5 minutes, hot and fresh. There was actual chicken in the curry that came with the palata, which we were genuinely surprised. That small bowl of curry was really good and the palata was flaky and buttery. The samosas was crispy outside, with a hot potato filling that was very flavorful. The curry and the garlic noodles came out not long after. We enjoyed the entrees as much as the appetizers. For the garlic noodles, I liked these thinner noodles mixed with the shredded cucumber. The cucumber was a nice cool and crisp contrast in taste to the garlicky noodle. The lamb was a little on the tougher side for me but the flavor overall was delicious. Zach loved the lamb curry since he likes lamb more than me and the spice level was to his liking. The waiters were very on top of keeping our water cups full as well. Needless to say, we both had a food coma afterwards and we both agreed that Burma 2 would be a restaurant that we would return to in the future :) read more

Friendly and attentive staff - place got pretty full on a Wednesday evening. Everything we tried was delicious and water glass was never without water. Tea leaf was already tossed and I think I prefer it when I toss it so I can admire the different colors of the plate. It's ok it is probably how the resto serves it usually. Catfish was flavorful and garlic noodles was cooked nicely. Have never had the semolina cake before and it was delicious and perfect pairing with the mango ice cream that it came with on the plate. Every single dish is absolutely delicious here! This may be one of my favorite restaurants in Walnut Creek. The food is flavorful and fresh. The service is always nice and very quick. I crave Burma at least once a week since visiting this restaurant the first time. The Tea Leaf salad, salt and pepper shrimp and lamb were some of our favorites. IDK if I came in on a weird day, but the night we were here, the EDM was b l a s t i n. A DJ was stationed at the front, mixing live. I felt like I was in a club more than a restaurant, to the point it actually was giving me a headache. We, among other diners, were yelling to hear each other across the table. And throughout the night, the volume kept increasing. I CAN ONLY HANDLE THE BEAT DROPPING SO MANY TIMES AT 8PM. Maybe it's their super-effective way of keeping customers from staying longer than needed (even though we were here at 8:00 pm-9:30 pm, nowhere near the last customers there, and they close at 10:00 pm)??????????? That being said, the food is amazing. Our group of 3 walked in on a Friday night and were seated immediately. Service is friendly, albeit a bit slow and didn't fill water often. SALT PEPPER CALAMARI: So lightly crispy & savory! Seasoned well. And none of that soggy BS. This breading is legit. MANGO CHICKEN: This is fiiiire. The mango sauce actually tastes like fresh mango-- went well with the slightly spiced, tender chicken. Generous protein portions. Burma 2 is quite good! We've gone a couple times had a variety of things from each part of their menu and I haven't been disappointed with any of them. We've had more than this, but off the top of my head I can remember having the mango salad, sesame tofu, lettuce wraps, walnut shrimp and broccoli with beef and they were all very tasty. Bonus is that many of their dishes are gluten-free which means I can try tons of things there. This will be one of our new go-tos in the east bay for sure. read more

We called ahead to let them know we have a large party and dropped off a cake in advance for a birthday dinner. They don't take reservations, so we even sent someone over early to put our party's name down prior to arriving, as the restaurant suggested. Dinner was tasty and fine, but service was subpar. Not sure how all persons we touched based with also forgot about our cake and the birthday celebration but we witnessed other tables having more attentive service. We finally flagged down a worker to let them know again after we had finished and were just waiting around-- which defeats the whole celebratory experience. Updated review after speaking to the manager 07/30/25 around 5 pm: Today I spoke with Justin, after my initial review. He did say "sorry it happened," which I appreciate, but the call didn't feel aimed at fixing the problem. It felt more like explaining why nothing more would be done. For anyone reading: it was the manager who spilled the curry soup on my almost $400 Slvrlake jeans, offered me a Tide pen, and brought me the full bill. No discount, no offer for cleaning -- just the Tide pen as single gesture of kindness and care. On our call, Justin explained the restaurant's position: * Tables and chairs may sometimes be dirty, and guests wearing expensive clothing should manage expectations accordingly. * As a "small company," they can't afford to replace expensive clothing unless "a lot" is spilled. Exactly how "a lot" is measured wasn't clarified -- is there an official curry-to-denim percentage chart? A surface area threshold? Or is it decided table by table? Justin said the Tide pen was a sufficient gesture to address the stains on my jeans. It wasn't -- and it doesn't change the fact that nearly $400 jeans are now unwearable. I had assumed a clean table and chair was part of the baseline service in a restaurant -- perhaps that expectation was unreasonable on my part. I found this place on Check please Bay Area show. I went in to order since they couldn't hear me on the phone call, it took around 20 minutes for the food to be ready. I got the following: Cat Fish chowder- this would have been better eaten at the restaurant, the flavors were there but the noodles were crazy stuck in a chunk by the time we got it to the house. Burma burma noodles, I liked the lemon tang but my family didn't. Tasted like a cold noodle salad. Eggplant with garlic prawns was one of my favorites. The sauce was good the prawns were big Sesame beef can't go wrong with sugary fried beef, right? Paratha with chicken curry dip- another dish that would have been better in house. It went soggy by the time we got home. Curry was tasty. Beef curry was tender but just ok for me. It honestly just tasted like a beef stew with potatoes. Garlic noodles with duck was a bit plain for me but my family liked that one since they like plain food. Overall everything was good, I would go back and eat there next time. read more

We got there when it open on Sunday 1130 nice place very clean and the help is very attentive . The food was great the pumpkin curry I had better but everything else was fantastic. The eggplant was excellent the tea leave salad is s must I could do without the coconut rice . The lamb pepper steak was excellent. My green beans were so soggy I expected it to be crunchier so if that's my fault then I would give it a 4 stars, the flavor just wasn't there for me. But all my coworkers really enjoyed their meals and the garlic noodles were a big hit. We had: - Tea leaf salad: comes pre-mixed, overall good but on a saltier side that obscured flavors of the dressing - Palata with chicken curry: just heavenly, and you get enough curry to spread over a side of rice - Fried chicken: good taste-wise but plating was a bit of a disappointment. Strips of mango were too large to eat in one bite without a knife and not thorough as in 2-3 large strips were still linked together. Same goes for pieces of fried chicken, just too large. It was my first time eating at this restaurant but our overall experience was incredible - one of the best ! We started by walking from the plaza which is about a ten minute walk . We were greeted with such kindness--. Our server was so much fun , he spoke with us as we were friends . Giving us great suggestions and sparking up countless conversations. You could tell he loves his job . I want to say the owner or manager kept checking and making sure everything was going well. Plus our water server would refill our cups after only a few sips . Honestly , the best service we could have asked. The place is clean , on the smaller side but plenty of seating with a full bar . The price was decent and paid under 90$ for 3 people with food, drinks,and alcohol . Our food was delicious- garlic noodles had a kick but ultimately a taste like no other , the size of the portion was more than enough for leftovers . I had lunch at Burma 2 on a weekday, and it was easy to get a table. We ordered the Burmese tea leaf salad (always a must at any Burmese restaurant!) and the tofu pad thai. Both were solid dishes. The restaurant is quite big inside, and they also have some outdoor seating available. Service was very prompt and friendly, and the dishes are reasonably priced at around $15. read more

Had the pleasure of trying Burmese food for the first time. Burma 2 has indoor and outdoor seating which allowed us to accommodate Lil Lucie. We tried multiple items salt and pepper calamari, soup, tea salad, chicken curry and garlic noodles. Everything was delicious and there were some spices/flavors that I could not identify.
