so I remember when I went to the grand opening of the one on Muldoon next to KrispyKreme and ripped em a new ***hole for such a terrible experience lol. The fact I even went to this establishment is rare. I was hungry as heck as I didn't eat at home and I'm currently on a veggie diet. So I thought to pick up a veggie burger and give it a try. I went to BurgerFi after work last night for dinner in celebration of our nation's most important holiday, National Cheeseburger Day. BurgerFi was offering $5 cheeseburgers but had no signs or anything to advertise the promotion. I thought maybe they weren't offering the promotion because Alaska is frequently excluded from national promotions. Apparently, according to my coworker, you had to specifically ask like it was some secret menu item. The burger I ordered was $6, so no big loss there. I dined in with a single cheeseburger and a small side of personal fries, which was only an additional $1.97. The portion size for the fries was perfect since I didn't want to pay $4+ for a small. And because I didn't want to be any more bloated from excessive sodium intake than I knew I would be already. The burger was good, although a bit overcooked for my tastes. I like some pink in the middle of my burgers so it's not too dry. However the bun was soft and the condiments were fresh so I didn't mind too much. The fries were delicious, hot and fresh with the right amount of salt. I most definitely would have eaten way too many had I ordered a larger size. I'm personally satisfied with the portion sizes since I'm more about quality than quantity. I think what I got for what I paid was reasonable. I guess it's a bit of a shock to Americans when other dining establishments offer something smaller than McDonald's size portions. Finding a clean table was difficult as many of them were covered in crumbs and straw wrappers. I'm hoping this was because it was busy and no one got around to wiping the tables recently rather than neglecting cleanliness. Some of the tables are outside the restaurant near mall traffic but there's a good amount of seating inside too. Overall my experience was okay, but nothing extraordinary. See, I hated the experiences I had here before, so I bitched and moaned and gave it 1-star, BUT since the matriarch of the family wanted BFi, she got BFi - and I came in surly and determined to have a bad experience. We started with a $3 beer, ($3? Awesome) and while I drank that and ordered I realized this was not the same BFi I was at before - I was impressed by Trina and ended up ordering for everyone, and the whole experience changed my entire perception of the joint. We are big fans of BurgerFi due to the BeyondBurgers and custard, mostly. It's not a bar but they have beer which feels kind of like being at a modern sports pub (yes nice TVs where you can take in the hottest games) with a BigAss fan keeping it all cool. Actually my fave is the conflicted burger, which pairs a meat and meatless burger. It's not a sit-down restaurant with wait staff- you order at the counter and get a buzzer to pick up your food when it's ready- but the ingredients are definitely high quality and it's a nice way to fill your belly. PS their fried onions are huge! Sometimes I go just for custard. Alaska isn't the Midwest- but for a moment, eating a frozen custard, you feel a taste of the dairy kingdom. read more

Didn't have the extra toppings I requested and the burger or chicken or whatever they tried to put on that bun was so burnt it looks like they scraped up all the burnt pieces off their grill and formed it into a patty shape then tried to call it a burger. I never write reviews but this was so appalling I had to write it down Edit/update: brought it back and one of the workers not sure if he was the manager or what but he felt incredibly bad, refunded me all my money spent including the fries that were fine. And no matter where I sit I always seem to be under a fan! I'm surprised by the lower reviews. This place has a fun vibe, unique-ish (and tasty) menu items, upbeat and engaging staff, and draft beer. Some menu highlights: Their veggie burger, "VegeFi" is a quinoa burger, none of that black bean garbage. So much better. They said it had BurgerFi sauce on it... I have no idea what that is, but I liked it. Their Breakfast Something Something Burger (I forget the name) is awesome. In the vein of the Royal Red Robin or whatever Smash Burger calls their equivalent, it has a fried egg and hashbrowns on it. I loved it. Hashbrowns were nice and crispy and the egg was neither under nor overdone. It comes default with a maple sauce, which is probably delish, but... I'm still not sure I'm ready for that kind of experience. I know the bacon/maple syrup combo is super hip lately, but I just can't bring myself to try it yet. Their Texas Style Chili Dog is decently sized and surprisingly spicy. I guess that's where the Texas part comes in? I don't know. I just know it's awesome. And I'm considering grabbing another one tonight when I run to LensCrafters. Did I mention it's in the Sears Mall, btw? I work off Old Seward, and I can easily stop in, grab a burger, eat it, and run an errand or two on my lunch break, so that's a huge plus. The seating is fine if you're not there during a super busy time. So we ordered the urban fries, which is a huge serving of fries seasoned with Parmesan & herb then they drizzle Garlic Aioli sauce over it. We split it between us and 2 little ones and it was a big HIT! The fries come reg. Large or bucket size. We didn't try the desserts but reviews on their shakes and Malts are pretty good. Plus they also serve crafted beers & wine along with your basic non alcoholic beverages etc: sodas & Juices. All together we paid about $31 for the whole meal which to me wasn't bad at all. From the bun type, burger packaging, and concretes to the "fast line" for concretes, this place is almost exactly like the Shake Shacks on the east coast (NY). Parking is a mild challenge as the location is right next to the Steam Dot in the (just west of) Sears area on Benson. Here on a Saturday around 2pm and place is pretty busy, but line isn't out the door crazy. Digging the wood and metal industrial design of the interior, cool Edison style lights over the long table, and giant fan in the middle. I got the brisket burger and my wife got the cheeseburger. We also got the O.M.C. (oh my chocolate) concrete to share. Both were done fairly quickly as our buzzer went off to let us know. When I got to the counter, they hadn't even started on our concrete. So I waited at the counter another 5 mins or so while they made that. Brisket was pretty good with the blue cheese not being too overpowering, but keep in mind that it's a double pattie of brisket and not like a sliced brisket sammich. The cheeseburger was very good and had an almost pepper flavor to it. The concrete was kinda grainy almost like it had protein powder in it (I'm sure it didn't, but just to give you an idea of texture). So I wouldn't get that one again (also, it was way to rich of chocolate). Maybe stick to the vanilla flavor if you're going to try one? Overall the service was decent and the food pretty tasty. That being said, I spent $20 for a cheeseburger W/ bacon, small fry (excessively salted) and $5+ shake. I've never had a $5 shake, let alone almost $6. I was hoping to as pleasantly surprised as Vincent at Jack Rabbit Slims but was severely disappointed. The burger was ok. About equivalent to the Roadrunner. The lettuce was flat and I actually thought I had bitten part of the wrapper. With fresh toppings it may been better. The fries were a little over cooked and like I said, too salty.
