Anchorage doesn't have many quality, small chains. And, while most of you don't know this, BurgerFi is a chain. While this is the first one in Alaska (opened Dec 9, with three more planned for the state) the chain thrives in places like Florida. We were happy to stumble upon it. BurgerFi does a great job at delivering quality burgers solid ingredients and tasty buns. Whether you're solo, with friends or a large group this place is a fun place to eat and relax in a casual atmosphere. Burgers are the main event and you can get hand-padded, fresh burgers and more toppings than you can fit on it. You'll have two choices: order a pre-designed burger or design your own. Keep in mind, you can get a wheat or regular bun, too. Two of my favorite things here are the fresh squeezed lemonade (hard to find stuff like this in Alaska) and the hand cut fries (you'll love them). Hands down, this might be the best burger in Anchorage (non restaurant style). read more

This burger joint is in the midtown mall(formerly called the Sears mall) and I have walked past them every time I visited the AT&T store in the same mall. Finally a friend invited me for lunch and he picked this place. To be frank I was excited to check this place out. Got there around 11:30 and they had quite a few empty tables. The first thing I noticed was that the music was too loud. My friend and I had to talk a bit louder than we usually do to be able to hear each other. I tried the burgerfi burger and it was decent-nothing great. I saw others order their onion rings(these are humongous onion rings) so I ended up ordering them too. What a big disappointment it was. They were extremely oil, literally dripping in oil. I ate one and left the rest. If you ever end up eating here, just stick with their friend and stay away from the onion rings. The burger was decent, they have ample space with a lot of tables and thats basically it. I can't give them more than 2 stars. read more

I went to BurgerFi a few times when they first opened, each time not as good as the last. What greatly disappointed me was the item I got on the last visit -- I ordered a veggie burger that had two quinoa patties. It was $14 and literally all that came on it were two smushed, soggy quinoa patties, a single leaf of lettuce, an overdose of some spread (even though I asked for only a little), and perhaps a ring or tomato and onion? It was the single most underwhelming, sloppy, and gross meal I ever had there. Everything fell apart immediately and deconstructed into a bland blob. They had other cheaper priced veggie options but I got this one because it sounded very filling and fancy. It was not. Their fries are really good, I'll give them that. And their shakes are super tasty and good for sharing. But overall, I'm not really impressed. My husband doesn't like how their burgers are so tiny (and maybe it's changed when they opened up, but the first time we went there, his burger was so minuscule in his hands, it was laughable -- it looked like he had one of those fake burgers that comes in a kids' play kitchen set). Like what many people say in Anchorage, why bother going to a chain when a local place is better, faster, friendlier, and has reasonable prices for the value? The whole shtick that "oh hey look we feature this item that's soooo much better than other fast food wowowow and we have funny names for our menu items" is way overplayed when it comes to chain restaurants, when many places already practice better-sourced beef options and organic veg. If you want 100% grass-fed beef, you can just go down the street to Tommy's Burgers and skip the tiny burger syndrome at BurgerFi. Needless to say, I haven't been back since the quinoa patty disappointment and my husband pretty much refuses to go there on principle. I just had the best experience at the midtown Burger fi restaurant. Despite all that is going on in the world I was greeted with friendly and knowledgeable service. Zanazejah helped me out and made my day with her positivity and engagement. Didn't seem like she just "worked there" but actually cared about what I might want to order. Thanks Zanazejah! You rock. The food was delicious and just what I was hoping for. Also, thank you to Emma who made sure that the whole burger fi team was on point facilitation my experience. Very clean place and professional team members. Even the Awesome gentleman who was sweeping asked me how I'm holding up with Covid. Wow! I love Burgerfi, despite the fact that every time I have eaten here they get my order wrong and always have to remake my burger. I honestly love the burgers, and that's the only thing that keeps me coming back, mistake after countless mistake. I've been traveling and unable to satisfy my cravings for these delicious burgers and today I was finally able to come in. Only to find that they have completely changed their menu, removing my beloved "build your own burger" option. I started writing this review last year, saved it as a draft and finally now completing it. That day I was devastated they changed their menu.... today, I realize I was throwing a temper tantrum because I wasnt ready for change. Lol dramatic, I know. I fucking love burgerfi - the CEO burger and fries are my holy grail. Add a Stella cidre to the mix and it's lunch time heaven. Best burgers in town! Yesssss I said it. And I'm so glad they opened up a second location, praying for a third on the south side with better outdoor seating that the midtown location. The food tastes good, but the employees make me worried there's unsanitary things in this food. Employees are obviously not held to any uniform or food prep standards as all have long, unshaven facial hair not in a hair net, long unkept hair on the head that is not contained by their half-assed hairnet. So many of the kitchen staff appeared to have very scabbed up faces and/or dried drool around their mouths. I understand if someone has a skin or health condition, but with how many employees fit that description it doesn't seem like that's the case. I don't trust that the current employees at this location are preparing food safely. Any good review on here should be considered an accidental occurrence. Do not expect consistency in the quality of food or service. Probably my fifth trip here and once again I am so disappointed. It's really my fault. My first experience here was so good and the food was awesome. I guess I keep hoping in vain that I can have that same experience. Today I tried to order the single burferfi but then the cashier asked me what I wanted on my burger which I've never been asked. I said the way it comes. She says it comes plain unless I press the double burger button and all the toppings come up automatically. I said okay I'll have a double so you don't have to think too hard. She wasn't offended. She looked relieved. Wow.... But let's back up. When I approached the counter, this cashier finished her conversation with her co-worker even though she saw me. I waited a full 3 minutes while she finished her tirade about whatever. A lady in the kitchen told her I was there at the counter which I appreciated and therefore didn't have the heart to say, "she's knows, she's making a conscious choice." Back to food. Halfway into my burger I bit into something hard like a piece of bone or something. The burger also was not hot at all, cheese wasn't even warm? Why does the kitchen take 15 minutes or more every time only to hand me a barely lukewarm burger. What is happening in the "kitchen"? Easy bake ovens are not the best choice guys unless you place the food right under the lightbulb. Gave up on burger, moved on to fries which were drowned in parmesan granules?? I've had them before and they are tossed with just the right amount of parmesan and herbs. Not this time. So I moved on to my Dr. Pepper which was so good, really the highlight of my meal. I liked it so much that I got a refill. Best $16.58 drink I've ever had. My number one question I have for this establishment is where the flippity flop is the manager or owner? The chocolate shake was chocolatey! Haha. The shakes are small and expensive. Not worth the amount spent. Customer Service was non existent. No hello, no smile. Burger Fi, you are now my go to place for a burger in Anchorage. The taste and quality remind me of good old In-IN-Out. I used to be a straight up Tommy's, or Arctic Roadrunner fan. I wanted to dislike your establishment, to satisfy my inner snob, but one trip was all it took to convince me. The size of the double burger is just right for me, the meat is well cooked, and the toppings fresh. The buns are fresh, and have a nice flavor. I don't eat a lot of french fries, and get the chili cheese fries there. They are pretty spot on for me. Price wise, I have no issue. Eating out is expensive in Anchorage. All in all, a solid place to get a great quality burger. read more

Disclaimer: most of the time when I go to places like this I am with a 6 year old. I babysit my great-niece on the weekends. This skews what I order and of course I can never try a beer, wine or cocktail, which may make me enjoy the food more. The service was great. The lady who took our order was an African American woman with a beautiful smile. She was very friendly and helpful and efficient. So the service was great here. The burger was good. I am not a big meat eater and I'm not too fussy about hamburgers. I hate to admit it but unless a hamburger is bad they all taste pretty much alike to me. That's it! I finished the whole thing. I usually don't finish an entire hamburger so maybe the people who think they are small are correct. The only thing the six-year-old would eat was fries so I mistakenly ordered a bucket of fries. This was way way too many. We probably could have split a small. I thought the fries were pretty good. I got a side of ranch and a cup of melted cheese for dipping for the six-year-old. I don't even like ranch but thought the ranch was good. It was too spicy for most kids. All in all it wasn't a bad meal. I just didn't see anything special about it and in my case it is not a good place to take a child. So I'm sure many other children who are less fussy may like it. My rating is only based on what I thought about the food and service. I would never deduct Stars for what a fussy 6 year old who eats like a bird thought. it sure was not very busy for a weekend at lunch time. The only other time I was there it was very crowded for weekend lunch. It seemed pretty loud for not being very crowded but anytime I take a child anywhere I don't want a quiet place so I have to worry about keeping the child quiet. I was so excited for Burgerfi to come to Anchorage so I tried it their very first day of opening and the place was crazy packed but the service was friendly and fast. I have gone back since and the service is always very friendly as well as a nice and clean restaurant. I love that we can see the folks cooking our burgers. As for the burgers I think they are delicious, the buns are soft and tasty and the burger itself has a great flavor and texture. I love the idea of all the toppings you can choose from but they are put on poorly and there is never enough of them IF they get them all on in the first place which they always forget one but they always fix it with a smile. So this is not my favorite burger in town by any means but I really like the grass fed all natural beef so I keep going back. The veggie burger is super but again topping issues I am not a fan of the fries they always seem under cooked and greasy even if I order them well done. The onion rings are tasty but a meal in themselves. All in all I would suggest trying this place out but check out the "secret" menu online before you go. read more

I would not be disappointed if I was with a group that wanted to go or was in the area and needed to stop for a meal. But it wouldn't be my first choice for burgers. The burgs are on the small side but priced like they're on the big side. If you're not expecting this you will experience buyers remorse when your tray comes out. They're tasty but not wowing. I don't get the brand on the bun. I'm sure that contributes at least $2 to the price. The fries are pretty solid. Nothing special but not bad. Served hot which is comforting to me. The concretes (their term for milkshake. Or frozen custard. Or whatever it is.) are probably my favorite offering. I've had a few and have been pleased. In order for me to leave satisfied I have to order two burgers and a concrete. Which comes out to about $25. Hefty price tag for what you get. And make no mistake; it is fast food. I don't understand the complaints about prices. I paid 9 something for an absolutely delicious bacon cheese burger which rivaled most "serious" restaurant burgers. Considering it's nearly impossible to get a burger at a restaurant for under $15 in this town, 9 bucks for a burger alone isn't outrageous. Sure the fries are extra, but they're far better than frozen factory formed potatoes you get at most local restaurants (cough Spenard Roadhouse/Bear Tooth/etc. cough). Also, not everyone likes fries with their burger. It's nice to be able to get just a burger or a dog to go, and then walk and chomp. Hard to eat fries AND a burger while you're on the move. My husband and I came here around 330 pm on a Saturday. This was our first time eating here, and honestly our last. Pros: food came out fairly fast. Cons: Let's start with the staff, the cashier taking orders looked extremely bored, was leaning over the register staring us down as we decided what we wanted to eat. So we ordered two burgers and added bacon with two sides of regular fries, one bottled beer and one beer from tap, our total was 50 dollars. The cashier for whatever reason grabbed someone from the kitchen to get my husband's beer off of the tap and he immediately came up and gave us a hard time. First he asked if our ID'S were checked and my husband responded yes you can check again if you want, and he says no if she (the cashier) checked it then it was fine. I then asked him to open my beer because the cashier did not, and he flat out asked me did I pay for it and my husband immediately hands the guy the recipt. Honestly he was extremely rude towards us. The food: the burgers are small, honestly not worth the 12 dollars per we paid for them. The meat tasted very plain, mostly just tasted the cheese from it. The fries were decent, a good portion of them but they were a bit over cooked. Over all if you want a burger place to eat at just stick with Red Robbin, you at least get big and good burgers and you get waited on.
