Tonight I went for my birthday and was never even approached for 45+ minutes once it turned midnight, we essentially had to beg for our check... very odd experience. Burger was huge. One complaint is the bread almost crumbling while eating. Good though. And the fries tasted great, but upwards of half were only an inch long. Very few 2" or greater. Maybe I just got the last of the bucket. But they were good too. Still give it five stars though. No dessert today. Obviously don't sell enough of them to justify making them I'd guess. I do enjoy the food BUT I cannot stand the how shitty the service is there. I have been treated like trash on three separate occasions now. I think that they mean well but McKinley Jones is very rude and I don't appreciate being treated like I'm less than anyone else who comes in. I have been nothing but nice. I don't hit on the ladies there I do not raise my voice and have given no reason to be treated like trash. My clients and my self with continue to support long Branch Salon AFTER she finds a new home at different establishments. The bartenders refused to accept my 24 y/o friend saying she had a fake ID and then they kicked us out. Pretty ridiculous we're all clearly of age. We tried to be polite but bartender and manager were very rude and wouldn't accept her other IDs. read more

If I made a list of the "must visit" and "Alaska style dives" this place would be on the list with Darwin's and Cabin Tavern. There is a terrific draft selection and all the burgers are very tasty. Additionally, prices are really great for Alaska. (But they'll still feel a little high for all you visitors) The service is always fast and friendly. The ranch is tasty and the burgers come out fast. Can't go wrong with their fries either. My wife was pleasantly surprised to see that they have a veggie burger. And a tasty one at that. It's not a huge place so if there's a crowd it fills up and get pretty loud, pretty quick. I know they're open pretty late. Not sure if the crowd gets more rough later in the evening. I have to admit that when I first pulled up to this place, I wasn't sure I wanted to enter. Definitely had 'Dive Bar' written all over it. I am glad I went in. I sat at the bar and the bartender immediately came over and said hello. There were over 10 beers on tap - some local, some not. There is also a drink menu with cocktails, including the infamous prickleback (shot of Jameson followed by shot of pickle juice - more tasty and smooth than it sounds.) The burgers are as advertised - excellent. I had the bacon, Swiss, avocado. You can substitute a different cheese. You can also change out the burger and choose a veggie burger, turkey burger or chicken breast instead. Several TVs, pool table and plenty of tables for mingling. All staff were friendly. As a born and raised Alaskan I'm a tad embarrassed to say this was my first time here. In my defense, I have a pinch of social anxiety, and this place is always packed. Visited midday on a snowy Wednesday. Like most places similar, this place is larger once you're inside. To my delight, this place wasn't empty but it also wasn't packed. The menus don't seem to be updated with rotating taps. My spouse had a hard time finding anything to drink. Tried the Kassik's blond and wasn't a huge fan. He settled for a Stella. Meanwhile, I had the mimosa our entire visit. They were honestly the best mimosas I've had at any establishment in some time. Was the orange juice hand squeezed? Bravo. The jalapeño and mushroom Swiss burgers were elite. Remind me to drink a glass of milk. The in-house made buns were perfect. I ate all my fries, they were hot and delicious. This place is definitely divey - so, expect that. But the employees work together flawlessly, so food and drinks come out fast. It was a perfect lowkey lunch. It was one of the first snows in Anchorage, and one of the days my fiancé and I had several errands to take care of. I have heard many people RAVE about this place and the burgers, and we were both hungry and wanting a place to sit and hang out for a bit while enjoying our burgers. We each had a burger, and at the suggestion of our waitress, we also ordered the cheese curds. Everything was full of flavor! We are not bar people, but I have to say, a dive bar with good bar food is my kind of place. 4-stars?! How could I?! I've since been back to Long Branch dozens of times. It's my go-to spot after a day/weekend of hiking/climbing or for late-night food. (I've even called them up while driving in from a trailhead and had them get a burger started when I knew I'd arrive after the kitchen closed!) The fries are always piping hot and fresh, the burgers are always delicious and come out fast. (I get the jalapeno burger every time) Oh, and those buns really do make the difference. (see previous review) This is also a rare "locals-only" spot in Anchorage. You aren't going to see any tourists in here! I've had many different bartenders here, and they are all very friendly in a very genuine way. I look forward to chatting with them almost as much as the food. I've eaten here a lot and not sure why I didn't feel compelled to write a review. Honestly I go for the burgers being I'm not into the sketchy bar scene of Anchorage. I'm really not impressed. They've completely fallen off. The burger pattys are thin and cheap. The "best buns" were completely soggy and fell apart while eating the burger and they looked undercooked. They weren't even toasted. How can you expect a burger to hold up without toasting the bun first? A travesty. The meat was over cooked dry & tasteless, the lettuce was shriveled & the mushrooms were scant in the burger. The fries were very dark, greasy & inedible. The deep fried mushrooms were tasteless. The onion rings were marginal. I would normally just let it go, however it cost me $68. I didn't think to take a pic until we'd already fed it to our dogs. I came in for the first time in several years this past Sunday to catch a football game. Long Branch Saloon is one of the most popular places to catch a burger while watching a game on TV, but like some other places, they always happen to be in a location that is hardly visible from the road and I end up always driving by the place. (Dimond turning into Abbott on the main road is no exception especially since this is one of the most congested areas of town during rush hour being next to the Seward Highway). Long Branch Saloon is located a little off to the side where the road changes at the turn close to the Holiday Gas Station and Q-doba Restaurant on the opposite end. The parking lot is a decent size although it can be challenging to find a spot for a later football game on Sunday. The bar and seating area has an old-school country, rustic look to it with TV screens spread out all around. The bartenders and servers are very friendly here and quick to take your order. The one thing that sets this apart from other sports bars I've been to is that I like the regulars here who are friendly to everyone who comes in and are happy to strike up a conversation with you if you're seated at the counter. This only makes the overall experience better especially if you're rooting for the same team. Since I came in around 12:30PM for the game, I was ravenously hungry and I was eager to try their burgers which they are so well known for. I decided to order the Guacamole Swiss Bacon Burger with a substitute side of Onion Rings rather than Fries. The burger only took several minutes to arrive at my table in spite of the large number of customers ordering food and drinks. The burger was delicious cooked at a perfect medium on a lightly toasted bun which they make home-made. The bacon was thick and perfectly crisp punctuated with a generous layer of melted Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, onions, pickles and lots of guacamole. The onion rings were also good with a decent amount added to the side. All of the food items on the menu are worth trying out in future visits if I happen to be in the area. Some of the other selections to take note of are the Beer Battered Fish and Chips, the Monster Chili Cheeseburger, Blackened Halibut Caesar Salad, and the Classic Patty Melt. I tried asking my server on lunch or drink specials, but she said the menu is currently being revised right now and to look for new changes on daily specials in the near future.
