The Oilers Burger so much better than a Big Mac!
    Pamela D.

I totally avoided this place for so long, it looks like a weird gas station and it just was not appealing to me at all. My husband tried to twist my arm one day so obviously I turned to Yelp. 4 and a half stars!! Hey, that's pretty good! So I gave it a go. I chose the Oilers Burger, because... well... Oilers! From the description it sounded exactly like a big mac. The service took a little bit of time but that's because this is being made fresh. Hanging in the car waiting, I wasn't sure what to expect. But this burger arrived and it was magnificent! Massive tasty burger, with fresh salad and soft bun. Wow. It was probably the best burger I've had in a long time. It came with tater tots that were a nice change from bog standard fries. Who doesn't need a burger on the go from time to time? Shame on me for being so snobby! I will never turn my nose up at Burger Baron again!

I love the Burger Baron. It's an Alberta legend that I'm glad is kept alive. They're an old standby that the locals know. I still think they should revive the old drive ins. Their mushroom burgers are the best thing ever. I know at this location you can grab a menu and call your order in and they'll have it ready at the window when you arrive. They're always friendly and rarely really busy. I've never had a greasy burger from here. Did you know they serve Tater Tots? I'm not a fan but their side dishes are way different and more interesting than any other drive thru. I usually grab a small order of corn fritters with my mushroom burger and once in awhile indulge in a shake - depending what time it is. They stop serving shakes a couple hours before close. Maybe one of these days I'll try something new on the menu but that mushroom burger is so good I haven't been able to stray. Just a note - this chain is NOT affiliated with the American Burger Baron. This one was founded in 1957 in Lethbridge, AB.

Ordered the shrimp basket - when I drove away and got to open the box, it was the most awful looking dish I've ever seen. When I returned the order, I was verbally abused by the so-called chef - and was told this was my fault - that he has been in business for 13 years and I didn't know what I was talking about and if I didn't like it, don't come back and get out of my store. Those who frequent this dive - beware!

Decent Old time Burger shack, nothing special but good greasy food. They know their not gourmet and focus on doing their job well.

We adventured to this burger spot because we heard they were offering free kids meals for the month…read moreof October, the caveat was that you had to purchase a regular meal for each kids meal. But we have 2 kids and 2 adults so it worked out for us! The kids menu items are a hot dog, a cheeseburger or Mac and cheese. All the portions for the kids looked really big which I appreciated. My boys are eaters and it was nice to see that they got just as many French fries on their plate as an adult portion. And PS the garlic fries are amazing!!! I'm so happy we got 3 orders of the garlic fries and I was curious and tried the animal fries as well- they were different...tasty but definitely a unique taste. The closest I can describe it is cheese wiz and mustard and caramelized onions. Very potent, I saw they have an Animal burger which probably uses that same mixture combo. Animal fries cost an extra $4 so for the extra cost I would probably just go with the garlic fries every time because they don't have an extra cost. I ordered the most popular Bacon Pepper Smash ($21 single $25 double) and really enjoyed the flavor and the price was on point. Smash sauce, pickled peppers, bacon, American cheddar, iceberg. The single was definitely enough for myself but with the thinner patties I could see why some people order the double. Hubby had the Inferno ($21 single $25 double) Inferno sauce, pickled peppers, crispy fried onions, American Swiss, iceberg. The sauce was spicy! Good but spicy! And it kind of overpowered the whole thing. Parking down the side street was a bit of a walk but not terrible and right beside this place is a cool looking liquor store and Kind Ice Cream across the road. The space itself was pretty big and we felt like we weren't too smushed up on booth next to the next table. Bathrooms are downstairs, mind your head! And there was a baby change table in the women's bathroom.
