I always thought these places were a little old looking but a friend highly recommended them. Place was 10% full when we came. Staff were very friendly and this location was clean and well kept. I tried the Swiss burger with 2 patties. 8.5/10. Very good, liked that there was sauce Between the patties. Sauce was good. Very messy. Overall bun was fine, patties were fine. Curly fries were fresh and very very good. Pina Colda milkshake was 10/10. Raspberry milkshake I thought was more strawberry and would not get again but friend was happy with it. He got the Dad's burger as he ordered the 'original' but the staff asked if he was sure and reminded him the Dad's comes with the same but "loaded" which we were very happy with the recommendation. I really do enjoy this spot. I usually hit it up when I am going shook g next door. Always a clean environment inside and out. Love the old school driver thru as well. Served fast and did not have to wait to long for my fresh hot food to come out. Got the bacon cheese burger and the cheese sticks. The burger was done very well. Love the volume of condiments they use on the burger. It's not unmanageable but you get amazing taste from it. The cheese sticks are some of the better ones around I find. They are stringy as all heck and the cheese is just so damn good. If you hit this place up during lunch time it's pretty busy. S good sign in my Opinion All and all this is a solid stop in. The food is always great, just as expected. The rum&butter milkshake is always a winner! I have so much nostalgia for this place, was one of my Dad's favorites and this location is one of the best. The staff always go above and beyond and sometimes even remember us. We ordered: Gourmet Chicken Burger (during each visit): Whenever i am not sure about the order at any burger place, i resort to chicken burger every time to be on safe side lol. If you want a little break from Mc Donald's or KFC, they are good to try. Swiss Burger: A good combination of Sliced Mushroom, Bacon and Mushroom sauce made this swiss burger even tastier. Second time, we decided for drive thru as we didn't have enough time to dine in but unfortunately, their service was pretty slow. I would never recommend this place for drive thru orders. The staff here are always so sweet, and then just underwent a huge reno! The place looks way more upscale (for a fast food place) than they used to. The decor is bright red, clean, and trendy. We've eaten in and taken out of this location and both times we have been pleased with the service and the quality of the food. This is not inexpensive fast food, but the toppings are fresh, the burgers are cooked when you order, the bun is soft and stays together better than many others, and there are a lot of great combinations. Bonus - They have yummy thick milk shakes with plenty of flavors. After the recent reno, the interior is fresh and clean. We will certainly find ourselves back on this side of the tracks for tasty burgers again. read more

I have been going to the "Baron" since I lived in Alberta. (pretty much my whole life) There are many throughout Edmonton and small town Alberta. Don't know the history of this franchise or if there actually was one at one time. Anyhow they have the best mushroom burgers around. This 99th street location I visit frequently as it is a short drive from my shop. Great service, Big Burgers, fries and the gravy rocks too. Milkshakes galore. every flavor in the book The building I think was an old KFC at one time so it has seen better days but its clean and kept well by these owners. Great lunch spot. Just watch the kids at lunch since there is a school across the road and this place can fill up fast. read more

Burger baron is a nice old fashioned burger joint. Doing it old school. I ussually get the mushroom and Swiss when I am here. It has more sauce than it really needs, but as long as you leave it in the sleeve it comes in while you eat. If your adventurous, you could try some of the sides that are not in all places. Like corn Fritters or department fried mushrooms. This time they messed my order up and I had to deal with some surprise bacon. read more

I love a good fast food burger every once in a while. As I've passed by this Burger Baron several times, I decided to give it a try. And while I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here,, my burger was prepared as well as it could be given the ingredients. I found the patties to be both thin and rubbery - which I guess is better than the thick and rubbery patty that they serve at Harvey's. For my topping, I went with the Salisbury topping - creamy mushroom sauce with grilled onions. I added (processed) cheese as well. The mushroom sauce drowned out the onions. There is just something about Burger Baron. I think that sums it up. Perhaps its a throwback to something we recall from back in the day, or perhaps its just an Alberta thing. I am not sure. I think the best thing about it is that it has its own unique taste, isn't trying to be something it is not and is honest about that. No glossy spit and polish here, just an honest burger with their own unique taste. You really have to try it to understand what I mean. In a world of fast food burgers these guys have actually found a way to taste unique and stand out. Their flavour feels like a vacation for my mouth, escaping the mundane and all too familiar tastes of all the big players. Tried this location last night for the first time. We did not care for the burger & would not return. Yes the bun was fresh & soft, toppings tasty but the patty was of frozen origin & way too salty. The curly fries were tasty but way too many little end pieces, not enough whole curls. Sad as it's so close to home. I will however return to try their milkshakes. read more

The serving sizes are huge, I can only get a burger OR fries, not both, because I get through one or the other and I'm stuffed. The service is fantastic and friendly, all my coworkers and I will be back over and over again for one of those delicious donairs, burgers and sides. Tonight I was too lazy to make dinner so I decided to go get some burgers across the street Burger Baron and you know what... they're awesome just like always but, this time I got an extra burger by accident and I called them back and told them I have an extra burger and he said don't worry about bringing it back. When hubby and I are in the mood for a quick burger without the wait, this is our go to place. Our faves are the BBQ burger and the Swiss Mushroom, always doubles because the patties are only 3.5 oz. But add an order of small fries (or better yet the curly fries) to share and there's plenty of food for two but for less money and less time than Red Robin's. True, it is take out, no great ambiance here, but the service is quick and friendly so if you're in a hurry for a decent burger fix, this is a good choice. read more
