As a female who knows nothing about cars, I have been virtually raped by dealerships and mechanics my entire life. Four years ago I was told that I needed a new engine. When I asked "Why? What's wrong with it?" the only answer I got back was just, "You need a new engine" and they gave me an estimate of $5,000. I took my car to two different dealerships and got the same BS before my brother suggested I look on Yelp and find a local mechanic with good reviews. That suggestion has changed my entire life. Finding Onik was like manna from heaven. He told me I did not need a new engine, and charged me around $300 for parts and labor and I have not had a problem for FOUR YEARS until this past week when the same issue arose. The smog check and oil change and AAA guy (who I called when the car died) all said my car was done for and gave me a list of things wrong with it. And who saves the day? ONIK ONCE AGAIN. I took my car in here a few months back and completely forgot to sing Onik's praises to my fellow Yelpers. Shame on me. Auto repair is one of those areas that's typically so dodgy, I don't even want to be bothered to try new places because of the headaches that come with the large percentage of shady folks in the biz. Thus, when I moved to Burbank, I put off my search until I absolutely needed to take my car in somewhere. Then I waited a little bit longer. Fortunately for me, as long as I live within driving distance of Onik's excellent little shop, I won't have to worry about anything car related. What a relief! Onik is friendly, patient, happy to explain in great detail his thought process and break down all of his estimates and I never once got that uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach while I was dealing with him. Pep Boys had quoted me $1200 to do a repair on my BMW, and Onik was my second opinion, though he didn't know that. His evaluation was the same, but his price was $700. Not only that, he fixed a leak and added fluids without charging me. Best of all, rather than skin me for many hundreds of dollars more for repairs he COULD have recommended, his honest evaluation was for me to trade the car in; it wasn't worth the work or cost. This cost him doing that extra work on my car (which I would have gladly had him do), and I appreciate that completely. He'll have my business, regardless what car I'm driving. I've taken my 2004 Harley Firefighter's Special (Road King) to Onik for tire replacement twice in the past year (front and rear last June, rear in February). I've bought the tires online from a place in Oregon that has a "preferred installer" program, which was how I found Onik. I could not be happier. My bike has saddle bags and S&S pipes, so the rear tire is a little harder to remove than on most. Nevertheless, he charges me the standard rate -- which is MUCH cheaper than the dealer would do it. I'm saving quite a bit by buying the tires online and then having Onik install them. I actually used to own a shop and still have a ton of tools, but I'm thinking of having him do other work on my bike (and I don't trust other mechanics easily.) I know that he's more knowledgeable than I am in current technology, and while I could read the manuals and do it myself, it's just not worth it b/c I know he knows what he's doing and that he's going to do a good job for a fair price. Finally, Onik is courteous, remembers you on the phone, and (as mentioned above) does good work quickly for a reasonable price. No wonder he's got nothing but 5 star reviews! read more

My friends were worried about the screechy squeak every time I used my brakes, so I consulted Yelp for a good local mechanic. I noticed a lot of good reviews for Burbank Auto Tech, so I thought I'd give it a try. My car was filthy. I wanted to make a good first impression before meeting a new mechanic, so I rushed over to the local coin-op car wash and blasted my car from roof to rims with soap and water. Then I drove the still-dripping car over to Burbank Auto Tech. Onik inspected my car and informed me that there was nothing wrong with my brakes or rotors. I asked what could have caused the squeak. He gave two reasons why perfectly good brakes might squeak. I forget the first reason, but the second reason was brake dust. He didn't charge me a dime for his time. As I drove home, I noticed that the squeak was gone. That morning's car wash must have cleaned the dust out of the brakes. I appreciate the honesty and good service that I got at Burbank Auto Tech. I called 3 other mechanics in the same area before I called Onik. (Pronounced like "Onyx" but with a K) The LOWEST quote I got for replacing my rear brakes and rotors, with me bringing the parts- was $280. I called Onik a few minutes after his shop closed and he quoted the same job for only $100. After dropping my car off the next morning, he calls an hour later to explain that my driver-side caliper was beyond repair, which i kinda knew going into this. He got the part for me at the lowest price and only charged me $20 to change it out. Even with an added caliper and labor charge- i was STILL paying less than the other quotes i got. I'm not mad at mechanics who charge more. This is America- make all the money you can!! But if i can find a mechanic who's genuine, helpful, AND doesn't charge me my first newborn- that's who I'm rockin with. And, ANNNNNND-- the next morning my brake light on the gauge panel was on. I called and he told me to come in so he could fill my brake fluid up for no charge. Save yourself the headache and go see Onik. read more

This is the only intelligent mechanic I've met in LA (and I've met tons)! Most motorcycle mechanics will take your bike and just put it at the end of the line. Not acceptable for a daily rider like me. I dropped about five mechanics because they would hold onto my bike for a week or more sometimes before diagnosing my bike and letting me know what it needs. I first brought my motorcycle to Burbank Auto Tech at noon on a Monday and by 3:00 THE SAME DAY, Onik called me to let me know what the problem was and give an estimate. This is the kind of service that I have been searching for. Onik has worked on four of my motorcycles and at least one of my cars and I have always been delighted with the quality of his work and his turnaround time. He is truly a professional. I used to live around the corner from this place and I was going to take my motorcycle in for a basic service. I procrastinated, but then I had to have some work done because gas was leaking from a gasket. I was expecting to pay through the nose to fix this, but thanks to Onik, I paid a fraction of the price from what I expected. Plus, he replaced my back brake, changed my oil and lubed the chain. All this cost me very little by comparison what I suspect the Kawasaki shop would charge me located on Burbank Blvd. I went to the Kawasaki shop with my previous bike that was a Kawasaki and they charged me $500 for a very basic service! DO NOT take your motorcycle to the Kawasaki shop on Burbank Blvd. Now my Triumph Speed Triple is running better than ever. When I bought it, it was running good, but I didn't realize how great it could run until Onik got a hold of it. Now it's running like new. I don't know what he did, but it's running excellent. Now I'm taking all of my vehicles to his shop. He's my mechanic from now on. It's not easy to find an honest, fair mechanic these days, but you'll find him at Burbank Auto Tech, and his name is Onik. I haven't brought a car in, in awhile but he worked on a silver mercedes I had years ago. My boyfriend drives a green Mini cooper and he works on his car as well. Super Nice guy and works hard. I was looking for a good honest mechanic. Last year I went on yelp looking for one and I found one! The gentlemen that owns this shop is Onik. Not only is he a really nice guy but honest and does GREAT work. There's times that he has checked out my car or even changed a light bulb with no charge. When I have needed work done that required more then just a bulb changed. He has been a lot cheaper then anywhere else. All work he has done works great! Warning: Long review, summary at the end. Just recently moved back to Burbank, and finding a good mechanic in a new neighborhood can be a daunting task. Thank goodness for Yelp, as it made my work a lot easier, and I now am confident to report that the existing, overwhelmingly positive reviews for Burbank Auto Tech are accurate! First of all, I lived here almost four years ago for little under a year, and I used to take my car to another local mechanic. The place was great then, but since then have changed drastically because of new management, according to reviews. General note to Yelpers: if you've been away for a while, be sure to check recent reviews, as things can change! Back to Burbank Auto Tech, Onik (the owner) is a great guy. My car was leaking oil at a terrible rate, having to add oil every few weeks. My apartment parking spot was a mess, and if the oil was low I could smell burning, and sometimes a little bit of smoke. I called Onik and took it in on a Thursday morning. I get a call in the afternoon that the car was covered in too much oil, and needed a undercarriage cleaning, which is something he didn't do. Went to California Detail Shop in Glendale over the weekend and got it cleaned (another 5-star review from me). I take my car in on Monday morning, and I get a diagnosis that it's my head gasket valve cover bolts are to blame, as they were stripped. He made an estimate and mentioned that it might go up, as it was labor intensive (recreating threads, or replacing with larger bolts). The next morning he calls while I'm getting ready for work, saying that it's done! I pick it up, and I the work that he did on the head gasket. The total came out to be slightly less than the estimate, and the car leaks less. There may be other sources of the leak (it's a '98), but if I have any other issues, I know I can trust Onik. Onik has worked on my Suzuki Katana 750 through the years and now He works on my Yamaha FZ1. I used to take my previous bikes to Bert's, but they are nothing but a bunch of thieves and amateur mechanics. Burbank Auto Tech's Onik is more than a mechanic, he's a motorcycle advisor. Just got back from getting fresh brakes on my car by Onik. Very fast, efficient and friendly. My go-to guy for everything concerning my car.

A couple years ago, I knew something was up with my brakes. Being not-an-expert at it, my explanation to mechanics were along the lines of "Check the brakes", but I knew it had something to do with the rotor and not the break pads. After three other mechanics saying my brake pads were fine, I finally found Onik who not only found the rotor problem, but called me immediately to quote me and get my permission to fix it. In addition to that, he fixed my 2+ year lack-of-AC problem, even going so far as to monitor the situation, in case I had leakage. When I got my car back, it worked like a dream. I've been going to him ever since for all sorts of problems - from oil change to smog check to mystery car-problems. The only thing that's sad is, before I was able to just drive my car up and get it fixed within the day, but it seems like he's getting a lot more business! I'd give him a call before you plan on coming, just so he can either fit you into his day or suggest another day/time. read more

when I was looking for a mechanic and saw Onik's 5 stars I was very happy, and at the same time wondering if it was true - it is true! Onik is not only a great mechanic, but also honest and generous. He checked my bike (a Ninja 300) and worked on it for a bit, for free. He wouldn't accept money even when I insisted. Plus he always answers the phone right away. From a new chain / tire swap on my '08 CBR1000RR, to track-day crash repairs on my girlfriend's '04 599, to a full restoration of my dad's formerly lifeless '71 CB750, Onik has never let me down. After reading all these glowing reviews, I sent my son to get an oil change and have the front brakes replaced at this place. No problem with the brakes but can you believe the mechanic didn't put the cap back on after the oil change? This caused the oil to spill out while driving and smoke billowing out. The car stalled out leaving my son stranded. Turns out there was a problem with the distributor and an oil leak but this mechanic refused to help find or even offer to fix the problem. Finally moved the car over to another shop (Florin's) in Burbank where the problem was detected and fixed. Poor customer service. I will NEVER go back to this place. read more

5 stars for this guy. I went here for an oil change he said it'll be ready in about 20 minutes. It was ready in exactly 20 minutes. The owner (I'm assuming) was very helpful and polite. He had a ton of photos of him racing motorcycles on the walls, I asked him all about them and he shared numerous stories with me about his experiences.
