Word of mouth in the auto care industry goes a long way. My dad, who's 92 years old, was first recommended to Art's Auto Care by his neighbor, Larry & Mary, who stated that they were the best in the neighborhood. While my dad's car was being serviced, the manager Arabo (sorry if I'm spelling it wrong) offered to drive him home. I found that above the average treatment of a customer to be endearing, so even though I live in Van Nuys (a 30 minute drive away), I started bringing my car to him. At first, it was just a tune-up and an oil change. But two days ago, the engine mount failed in my 2010 Honda Civic. Afraid to drive it to the shop, I called AAA for a tow truck. When the tow truck arrived and the driver asked for my destination, I said Art's Auto Care, to which he replied: "They're the best auto shop in Burbank." Further proof that this business is well respected in the local community. My engine had entirely separated from the auto frame, breaking through the bolts and was hanging by a thread, but Arabo and his dad managed to put it together again in two days. Arabo's dad even took a bolt to the face as they were fixing it, but luckily he was okay. I was worried the repair cost was going to be extremely expensive, but it was a very reasonable price and I'm very happy with the service and end result. It's very rare to find a great mechanic that you can trust. If you're in the Glendale/Burbank area (or even outside it), I 100% recommend Arabo and Art's Auto Care. Took my 1999 Toyota 4Runner to Art's Auto Care for issue with my brakes late in the afternoon. I was greeted by Ara, the manager. I told him the problem I was having and he took his time to explain to me the possible issues. He was very informative, knowledgeable and very honest upfront.. which I very much appreciated. I left my truck and I then got a call next morning and the issue was brake booster and the brake master cylinder. He explained to me the estimated costs, etc and he was HONEST and Straightforward. After my approval, the next day my truck was ready. I was very happy with their work and honesty. It is a family owned business and I am all for small family owned business! After reading reviews on numerous auto repair shops in Burbank, I decided to go with Art's Auto Care, and I'm glad I did. I knew I needed an oil and filter change, but I didn't expect the added care that Arabo took to ensure my car was in top shape. He performed a thorough inspection and confirmed my car didn't need any other repairs. The brakes, rotors, belts, tire tread, suspension, etc. we all good to go! He even rotated my tires and checked Honda's recommended scheduled service for 40k miles to make sure we weren't missing anything. ALL GOOD! Very fair pricing and his honesty is much appreciated. Women need to have a man with them when they go here, they are not honest people! First time here and the owner tried to con me.... This is not how you do business. I paid for a $90 oil change, and in the end of it; sorry we cannot reset your maintenance light. However it says on the invoice that the reset is included. Then owner (older man) starts cursing, and won't admit to his wrong-doing. Also, when I mention yelp discount he rubs that in my face. As if using a 10 percent code is a crime... The owner Art (older man) intentionally jacked up price, soon as I mentioned yelp discount. That is just a bad way of doing business..... Brought my old decrepit car here because the window wouldn't go up or down. They wanted to inspect the car and I told them please do not touch the window while they were checking it out because i had gotten it back up again and likely wouldnt be able to adjust it again until it was fixed. While inspecting it they quoted me for another several things the car needed done so I prioritized and went with the expensive repair instead. No complaints there. When i went to pick up the car they had rolled the window down despite my warning and it was now stuck down. They had me wait and i watched for a full hour while the mechanic literally wailed on the door over and over with his fist trying to force it to work. They ended up taking the window out of its connecting parts and setting it in place disconnected from everything. As I went to leave (having already paid a large sum for the other service) the owner's son sheepishly handed me another bill requesting $100 for labor for getting the window back up when they were the ones who got it stuck down in the first place. I could tell he knew it was wrong but i felt pressured so I paid it anyways and I still regret it. They knew it was wrong to have me pay go fix their mistake and they took advantage of me anyways. read more

Ara & his mechanics took care of my car a few times back-to-back! I was towed there with a hanging undercarriage cover. Then I had them inspect my car for free & told me that my brakes needed to be worked on before my road trip! While on my road trip, the rear trunk release malfunctioned & had to be strapped down. As per Ara, the fuse in the trunk release had to be replaced so they took care of my car completely! I am very happy with all of my services from them! My 2005 Scion XA is now purring like a kitten! Sure, when you have a nearly 20 year old car like I do, you're gonna start running into some glitches here & there. (But ZERO car payments makes-up for ALOT!) Plus, the Scion is made by Toyota and it's provided smooth riding for almost 2 decades. However, over the past week, I noticed the idle was somewhat sputtering. Having moved to Burbank 2 years ago, I was in need of a new mechanic. The Yelp reviews for Art's Auto Care were outstanding AND they were in walking distance of my home. Arabo patiently listened to my auto issues, was patient, thoughtful & measured in his response as he considered some of the issues that may have led to its current problem. He had me bring it in the next morning and couldn't have been more welcoming. I reiterated some of the issues, handed over the keys & walked back home. An hour or so later, got a phone call with a diagnosis that was pretty spot-on to Arabo's initial thoughts (throttle body and mass air flow sensor were full of deposits & debris), what the repairs & cleaning would entail as well as an approximate & extremely reasonable cost for repair & service. A couple hours later, the car was good to go! Sure enough, hopped in and could immediately feel the difference. Everything felt more solid & smooth in terms of engine performance. Had brake job done, brakes were noisy after. Went back several times and received very condescending treatment, drove with mechanic who said I was imagining the noise, he said it was the transmission and that I could not tell the difference. I guess after driving for 40 years, I can tell the difference between the transmission and the brakes. I endured the noise and vibration for a few months, then had to have a whole new brake job by a different mechanic after only 6,000 miles. I was not willing to go back to Art's and be jerked around again. The new mechanic noted the improper work and installed new brakes, and then wow, what do you know, no more noise or vibration. You want an HONEST MECHANIC, look no further then ARTS AUTO CARE :) I purchased a car near by and needed to get a "AAA 100 Point Inspection" $89.99. I called around and I couldn't get with any mechanic until the following week. I called Art's and spoke with Arbo and explained that I desperately needed a 100 point inspection. He told me to call back in 5 mins. I did just that and he made time for me :) now that is a man that s his job. I was able to purchase my car after the inspection and no problems. I bought myself a "BEAUTY" 2012 Audi A5 Quattro Convertible. However, I need to get the cars 75k service done ASAP. As this review was way overdue (should have posted this in Dec 2020). I apologize but I have to add to this review for those who buy a car without checking it out with a mechanic. DONT MAKE THIS MISTAKE EVER - ONCE YOU DRIVE AWAY IT IS SOLD AS IS - REMEMBER THIS !!! When my mechanic of the last 15 years retired last year I've been hopping around from place to place trying to find a friendly and fair mechanic. Hard to find both. My friend referred to this shop when my car battery died this week. I pulled up the shop without an appointment. Arabo greeted me immediately and had one of the guys check my battery free of charge. When the test said that I needed to replace the battery they explained that they didn't have the battery in stock and needed to order a new one. Ara explained that it wouldn't be in until the morning. He apologized for this inconvenience and made every attempt accommodate my needs. He offered to give me a ride home, he offered to put in a temporary replacement battery so I could go home and come back in the morning, etc. Very helpful. Ultimately I decided to leave my car overnight. Ara said the cost would be $193. (This cost is significantly more than my old mechanic.) I called in the morning to check in and Ara said that the battery had just arrived and they were working on it now. When I arrived to the shop Ara said that he was able to get the price down for me to $187, something about how although I wasn't part of AAA, where most of his costumers get discounts, he was willing/able to give me this discount. On Yelp I noticed that they have a 10% off coupon for first time customers when I asked to use this coupon Ara seemed alittle frustrated at my attempt to lower the price further but ultimately decided to lower my bill to $167 stating "I'll just take off the cost of the labor for you since you're a first time customer, no worries." Ara really went above and beyond to meet my needs and did so with a friendly and helpful spirit. I'd recommend this shop to someone looking for a friendly and fair mechanic. Although their prices are on the higher end. After thanking my friend for the referral, it turns out-- the referral was for the shop next door. I didn't mind much about the mixup after having a great experience here though. read more
