BIG SCAM !! He will steal your money and not do the job correctly or at all. Please do not go to this mechanic. He is a scammer and he does steal things out of cars. I have been going to him on and off for about five years so I did establish some trust with him so I thought up until recently. This year I took in a BMW which I did Pay cash for the service which was my first mistake and trusting him he didn't even do the job he lied on the paperwork that he bought the parts and never put them on my car he laughed at me and also stole about $50 worth of change out of my car. Also while I was there recently trying to get him to correct things with him I realized that there was a lot of elderly and women who take their cars to him. Please do not trust him. He's very good about covering his tracks, but if he can get over on somebody, he definitely will. I've already reported his business to the BBB. He got me for about over $1000 and did nothing on my car. He fabricated receipts because he does work on BMWs quite often so it was easy for him to do this. I trusted him I thought I could give him cash And he said he wouldn't charge me taxes which I really regret doing. I know people say don't ever do that with mechanics, but I did trust him and I am a God-fearing woman and I do believe in karma and I didn't think that he was like that I'm just trying to save someone else from being in the same situation and even if you do Pay with card and get a receipt, I don't trust that he's actually doing the work. It's been a long time since I reviewed this business so I would like to update my Yelp review. I have been coming here for years now and I feel so fortunate to have found this place. It's easy to find, just south of Verdugo Ave on the west side of Glenoaks by Gus's World Famous Chicken. Onik is always there and ready to help. He is always positive and prompt and he has great recommendations! Over the years I have had him put on new brakes, rotors, tires, shocks, struts, a new battery, and starter, and probably more things that I've forgotten. He uses high quality parts and he always works so hard! My father used to be a mechanic and, before I met Onik I had a great distrust for mechanics. I have been taken advantage of multiple times over the years, including from Toyota dealerships! But over time I began to trust Onik more and more. I recall once I thought I needed new brakes so I went in. Onik told me I didn't need them yet and I was shocked! Any other business would've just taken my $$$ but not honest Onik! I have told my father the brands that Onik has used for parts for my car and my father always approves and says they are good quality. Another great thing about Onik is he is often able to get my work done the same day. It might be that I haven't had huge jobs or something that require an overnight stay, but I do appreciate being able to pick up my car as soon as possible. In the past when I had work done on my car, he was very fair on pricing. Yet also, there has been times he said that the issue I was having is not of urgent matter where it needs to be addressed at that very moment. Not only is he honest, but he will educate about the issues regarding the diagnosis/ faults. He obviously loves cars and people, too, and he'll help your car run better than it ever has before, and it won't break the bank, either. He's a very nice man, and he runs his business well. He's well-qualified and very experienced, and the work is done as quickly as possible; sometimes, he's done fairly complex repairs for me on the same day, which is astonishing -- previous mechanics would take several days, and their results were... mixed. This auto shop is the real deal! We have been going to Onik since we moved to Burbank 5 years ago and he always provides great service with honest recommendations and a competitive price. Once our car got to the age and mileage that it really needed to be retired, Onik suggested getting a new car and basically refused to take any more of our money for a car that would just keep having problems. Love the integrity there. He's also very helpful even when we'd have to take other car for air pressure check or something simple. I am completely clueless when it comes to cars and always feel over my head when taking my car to mechanics but Onik handled both me and my car with care. He was so kind and his service was quick and thorough. When I came in I told him what could be the problem but was not too sure, he looked at my car and gave me his analysis letting me know that my car was in good shape (such a relief cause I was stressed!). I've been taking my card to Onik for many years now. After my warranty and service plans expired on my Mercedes and BMW, I have only taken my car to Onik. He is caring, responsive, is extremely trustworthy and will tell you exactly what is needed and not needed. I was given an estimate from Mercedes dealership of required work on my car that totaled over $5k after I took it in to have a part replaced due to a recall. This is an update now that I've had to get actual work done on my car: Onik is still awesome! Spent 2 days looking at my car. It's an 05 gti with about 180k miles on it and it wasn't starting. He said the starter was fine but isn't getting power for some reason. Tried replacing the relays but still, no luck. Well instead of "trying" 30 different things or replacing my steering column an starter, he recommended another shop that specialized in electronics, DIDN'T CHARGE ME A PENNY FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS OR TIME SPENT ON THE CAR, and was kind enough to push start me to save on a tow. If you're looking or a fair and honest mechanic, look no further. As long as I am able and it isn't cost prohibitive to come see him, I will be going there for all my automotive (bike and car) needs. A1 electrical, Onik's referral, were able to diagnose the problem and have parts coming for ~$300 when the first quote I got in Glendale was "at least $800" read more

Onik took about 2 minutes to diagnose the problem, immediately called to see how much the part cost, and within 10 minutes of arriving, I had a quote with parts and labor charges. I hit a plastic trash can on the freeway this morning, and when I was pulling out of the parking lot at work to go home, I could hear something scraping the road. I checked underneath the car and saw a plastic piece hanging down. On my way home I checked the nearest auto place and stopped here. The gentleman checked my car even though he was close to closing up. He was able to fasten the plastic case close and said I was good to go within minutes. He was even kind enough to not charge me. He doesn't try to upsell you and he's very no-nonsense which is what you want from a mechanic. He also works fast and usually has my car done before I know it. Onik has been my mechanic for over 26 years... I keep track based on my daughters age. We moved from NY when she was 6 and she is now 32. He is so honest and helpful...I can remember visiting many times and thinking something major was wrong. He will always say... "nope you don't need that, you only need ______! Imagine a mechanic that doesn't try to up sell you - even when he is aware of your own ignorance. Our car is in for repair now and the insurance company gave us the option to move it to "an in network" mechanic and avoid paying a 20% copay. Onik is amazing. He's [ Onik ] been working on my car [ 2004 Honda civic] and my boyfriends 2008 R6 streetbike for about 6 months now and we both couldn't be happier. He is so legit- i am surprised he isn't out of business considering how fair and reasonable all his prices are and how much knowledge he has and is actually willing to share with you on things. Now i am an only child raised by grandma and know NOTHING about cars and have been taken advantage of by many a mechanic so to have someone explain everything in detail to you and show you parts and give you names for parts you call " that dirty spirally thingy" or " this metally gear looking thing" or doesn't laugh at you when you tell him your car is making a "shhhpppppppeeeeeeekkkkk" noise is amazing. everything he's done to my car i have previously gotten done elsewhere and at AT LEAST 25% more of a cost. he even warned me about getting certain services done at easy cheapy places like jiffy lube- not because they are cheap and easy but because hondas requires special everything from oil to transmission fluid- something no one had clued me into before. thanks for being so honest onik! read more

I recently went to Burbank Auto Tech (5-18-2012) with a 2004 Kawasaki ZX-10r... Service was quick, responsible, informative, done right... let's break it down Turn around - a day or less if he has the parts in stock (He didn't have the parts in stock... but he got them within a day and I had my bike the very next day... this is important to me because the last place I took my bike took 2 & 1/2 months!!!) Price - better than average. I've only been to a few places, gotten a few quotes, but the owner was able to match them or beat them without being told the price... so he's a really fair guy Knowledge - the guy rides a Kawasaki zx10 (therefore I trust him), rides a Kawasaki concours 14 (knowledge of big bikes too), has owned 3 different Yamaha's, has owned GSXR's, ridden ducati's and aprillas... I'm not sure many mechanics ride as much or as hard as this dude does. YESSSS! Finally I found a shop that doesn't just wanna take my money and keep my car for days without explaining to me what's going on!! I have a long history of suspicion about auto repair places. I've caught a few attempting to rip me off (once to the tune of $800 for what amounted to a loose battery cable), and am sure that others have gotten away with it. So, I was filled with dread when my Eclipse's check engine light came on, necessitating a trip to a mechanic. These things being what they are, it could have been a major problem - or a complete non-issue. I dropped my car off late last night right before closing, only to get a call at 10 AM this morning from Onik, telling me that it was ready to pick up. That's quick service! Instead of being fleeced, I was charged less than a nice dinner to have the problem diagnosed and resolved - and Onik even stayed a bit after closing so that I could pick it up (as I was running late). I've not yet had major problems with my car, thankfully, but I was impressed with Onik's professionalism and service and will certainly come back if I do. 5 stars for peace of mind! read more
