Buono's is located in the strip shopping center next to the hotel we stay at when in town. All the times we've been here, we never looked very closely to see what businesses are there. My husband came across Buono's and looked at the Yelp reviews. He told our grandsons and their Dad about it, and they wanted to try it. We were here on a weekday around 4 p.m. At that time, it was slow, but gradually things were picking up. Most customers came to pick up takeout orders. One person ordered 2 slices of pizza and ate them while there. None of us ordered pizza. One of our grandsons and I both ordered spaghetti with sauce. Their Dad ordered a calzone. My husband ordered penne with sauce and sausages. Another grandson ordered baked penne with cheese. One of his brothers ordered a steak-and-cheese sub. We all ordered soft drinks. Things got hectic while we were waiting for our food. There was one man who was working the front of the house. He was friendly and efficient, if overworked. The back of the house seemed to have two or three employees preparing the food. I liked my pasta dish. The spaghetti was cooked al dente, and there was a decent amount of sauce. The grandson, who got the same dish, also liked it. Their Dad liked his calzone -- it was the biggest calzone we ever saw. He couldn't eat it in one sitting and ended up bringing some home. My husband liked his dish, as did the other two grandsons regarding their orders. The one who ordered the steak-and-cheese sub ended up bringing half of it home. The ambiance says "neighborhood restaurant' as we noticed that most of the customers were regulars. We all liked what we had, and all agreed that we would consider a return visit. read more

We come here pretty often. Most of the time the food is great and the service is good enough. But our last visit was rough. We asked for our pizza to be half pepperoni, and the server told us, "No, the cook said he's not doing half-topping requests." Okay... that's a new one. Then the pizza came out with the crust completely burnt. I honestly don't know how the server felt comfortable setting it on the tray stand looking like that. So not only does the cook refuse simple customer requests they also can't cook a proper pizza. It was late and we had the kids with us, so we didn't bother saying anything. We also weren't given a pizza-slice magnet (their rewards thing), so I asked for one. The server said no because we got the NFL discount on our pizza. The funny thing is we always come on Sundays with a game on and have always received one. When I told him that wasn't true, he just walked away. The place was alright, I mean the pizza was decent, it wasn't bad. The woman who I payed for my carry-out order was really nice to everyone who came in. She also mentioned military/veteran discount? So I think they offer that here as well. I got a small pepperoni and banana peppers pizza, pistachio ricotta cake, Boston crème yodels, nj style disco fries. Tiktok suggested this spot as one of the best pizza places in AZ. I'm so glad I stopped by and I wanna come back. The food is yummy! They sell pizza by the slice. How bout that?! What an amazing find!!! Random Yelp search landed us at Buono's on HIGLEY and Baseline. It was at 11:30am, so not busy yet. The very friendly waitress Katey started the experience off with the perfect blend of humor and professionalism. We ordered the honey hot chicken wings and fried mushrooms for the appetizer. The fried mushrooms were absolutely on point! Perfectly golden and tender but firm inside, dipped in ranch. Now on to the chicken wings, let me say my wife and I are Honey Hot chicken wings people. We have tried this flavor of wings from Native, Venezia's, Cogburns, etc. It's how we test a new place, I'm sure y'all do the same thing. We have to say these wings blew us away!!! Perfectly crispy and meaty and the Honey Hot sauce is the Best we have ever had hands down!! You must taste for yourself if you are like us. We have officially decided that this is our new favorite place for wings and we can't wait for the pizza to arrive. The restaurant itself is in a strip mall and the place makes good use of the space. The music was playing a good mix for this 50+ couple. The booth was comfortable and I found the supplied pizzeria condiments was above my expectations. I don't think I really covered just how amazing the waitress was throughout our experience, her positive attitude and humor really made us feel comfortable. Back to the food, we had a Margarita pizza delivered to the table first, the visual was amazing!! The flavor and the texture of this pizza crust were the BEST NY style pizza we have tried in the valley and we have been here for decades. We also ordered a Works pizza to go. I couldn't resist the temptation to eat a slice before it got cold and it was delicious!! The crust is just perfect and the supreme toppings elevate the flavor! Katey was so sweet she made us an order of Zeppoli's to taste. My wife had never tasted one and she was immediately addicted to these. The dough is so good and perfectly fried with powdered sugar. I do wish that they had dipping sauce like caramel and chocolate, jams or jellies to elevate these gems. That's a tongue twister! LOL!! If you have stayed with me this long you might as well just go give them a try and see for yourself!! I know for a fact we will be back and we will be bringing friends. I hope y'all do the same. Read the reviews and was very excited to try it. Large seating area and outdoor seating also. This was fortunate since the AC was apparently not working. We were seated inside but relocated to the patio after determining it was too hot inside. Haley was our server, she was very nice. I'm guessing they were shorthanded as our food came out in 3-4 waves and our appetizer appeared halfway through the meal. We ordered the Margherita pizza which was excellent, the meatball sandwich which was good, a caprese salad which was good and lasagna which wasn't very good. The appetizer; garlic bread and marinara for dipping was excellent, just wish it would have arrived sooner. The reason I gave them 3 stars was 1) lack of air conditioning, 2) some of us received our meals and appetizers when others were halfway done with their meals, 3) lasagna was not very good, I only ate a third of it and left the rest. Not a terrible mistake, as we just plucked them off, but still...My daughter & her husband got wings and they said they could have been cooked a little longer. I asked about cannolis when we got there and was told they had to make them. I can respect that, but don't most places have them premade and in a cooler?
