The AK-47 came out cold--it was still good, but it definitely seemed like it had been sitting for a bit before hitting the table. On the plus side, we love sitting outside and they had the misters running perfectly for the afternoon heat. However, the tables were a bit dirty and the patio could really use a good pressure wash to clean off the bird droppings. Visited Cheba Hut while in Gilbert. The atmosphere was casual and laid-back, and the service was friendly and welcoming, especially for first-timers -- we immediately felt comfortable ordering. Tried a couple of their signature sandwiches -- the buns were pleasantly light and airy, and the flavors were savory and tasty, which made the whole experience better than expected. The sandwiches were large and they tasted great. We got the G-13 which is club and the Cali Mist. Both were fantastic. The nachos were ok, but they got burnt up in the oven a bit and stuck to the paper they were served in so half the cheese has paper in it. The garlic bread had, no joke, about an inch of cheese melted on top... That's crazy... crazy delicious. It was so good and they give you ranch and marinara which is nice. Stopped in after a round of golf and we're happy they opened at 10am. We had been to the original Mesa location prior but this one is an upgrade. It shares the space with a brewery so you can eat and grab a cold one. We order 2 subs The Kind and Kali Mist. Both we great but the Kali was exceptional with the spicy mayo All the right toppings and super fresh. For drinks, they had Pepsi products. They also have a selection of Kool-Aid, which all the flavors were amazing or like I said, hit up the brewery and get yourself a cold one. I met up with some co-workers for lunch on a Thursday at noon. The parking lot was busy, but the restaurant wasn't too busy. I was 6th or 7th in line, it moved quick. It has been a LONG time since I've been to a Cheba Hut. We always have trouble thinking of nearby places to go for sandwiches, so it's nice to have this option now. One key point; THREE flavors of Kool Aid are available. That brings back memories for me more than anything else. But, don't forget the food! My sandwich (Kali Mist) was excellent as well: fresh produce and bread that was crunchy and toasty. Toppings: roasted turkey breast, bacon, chipotle mayo, jalapeño, avocado, pepper jack, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, Shake & House dressing. The jalapeños are fresh rather than pickled, which gives them a sharpness, crunch and heat to balance the richness of the meats and dressings. We sat on the patio, which was cool in December, but also nice and quieter than the inside. Yes, we'll be back. Wait time was a bit longer than usual, but that is likely because we showed up at a prime time: the place was pretty full and there was a line at the "pick up to go orders" area, too. I am a big fan of Cheba Hut and it always hits the spot. I introduced my mom this week and she now has fallen in love. We walked in around 6:30pm on Tuesday and it was fairly busy. Almost all tables were occupied inside and there were some tables available outside. We waited a few minutes to order and the cashier rang us up quick. We ordered: One 8' White Widow with garlic bread One 8' Chronic - no BBQ sauce, garlic bread One 8' G-13 - with garlic bread Two bags of chips One drink Total with tip: $56 We luckily found a table inside and it was clean. One of the workers was stocking up the chips and she kindly handed us our 2 bags. We sat down and waited about 20 minutes for our food which did seem a little too long... The wait wasn't an issue as our food came out hot and was just made. My white widow was toasty and the cheese was gooey. We all very much enjoyed our subs as they were all delicious. There was a worker going around cleaning up tables and also offering to take peoples trash which was nice. The TV's were playing cartoons and the music was gooood. The bar was pretty busy and the pick up area stayed busy with to go orders. We finished eating and as we were about to walk out, we were thanked and told to come back again from the worker who handed us our chips. It was such a small gesture but we felt appreciated. My family and I love Cheba Hut! We usually go to the Chandler location, but so glad to see one open near us. I was on my way home from running errands and desperately wanted a Cheba Hut sandwich. Fortunately for me, this location was on my way home. I placed an order online before heading over. My go-to is the Pacific Blue (Tuna Melt) on a garlic herb bread. It comes with tuna salad, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and Shake & House dressing. It's so good and loaded with tuna! They made it just like the other location did! I got the Kali mist which was alright. Not terrible but not the best like how this sandwich used to be. What is really annoying is ordering on the app and getting there at the exact time the app tells you the order will be ready and it's not and the employees kind of just don't care and will let you wait around. Don't get me wrong if it's busy and it takes a few extra minutes I totally get it but it wasn't. I've seen this location waaaay busier. The guy that I talked to at the mobile order window told me that they would call out my order so I sat down in the lobby for 10 minutes. I'm happy to have a new sandwich option in this area, especially one that toasts their creations. It always seems to make them taste better. I had the French Dip and my husband had the Kali Mist - both great sandwiches. They come in 4, 8 or 12" sizes but I found the four inch to be filling enough. It was a bit of a wait for our food but that could be because there seemed to be a lot of people waiting for takeout orders that day. The dining room was also crowded - we sat on the patio- so it's a promising sign that they're doing well. Be aware of the restaurant's overall theme if you plan to take your grandma or little kids. Place is welcoming, clean and good amount of parking. We came on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy. We waited for 35 minutes or more for our sandwich and nachos. Very frustrating watching people get their order before us when they got inline after we did. Once we got the food, the nachos had been over backed. We had to really pull it off since the cheese was stuck to the paper. The sandwich was good, we ordered a white widow that had a great amount of meat and lettuce. I went on 420 and they had great deals that day and they always have some certain deal if you sign up for email and what not but this place was good. My Apollo 13 sub was pretty gross. For starters it had guacamole, and I HATE avocados! But fine whatever, I just scraped it off. Then I had the most bitter taste at some point while eating, and realized it was full of rotten mixed greens. It had so much i don't know how they missed it!!! Then realized I had mushrooms and green peppers too. Where on this order does it list guacamole, mushrooms, and green peppers under the Apollo 13?? Cannot thank the staff here enough. My wife talked for 10 months about craving and wanting nothing but Cheba Hut. She was dreaming about it. I'm notorious for screwing up her orders, so I walked in nervous as hell now that she has given birth and is able to have her craving.
