For the Marina, I appreciate a place like Bun Mee where I can get my Vietnamese food fix! This café is one of 3 in San Francisco. Great location! Incredibly easy to get a bite when shopping on Chestnut Street or watching a film at the Marina Theater. I ordered the 5-Spice chicken Sandwich. It was good with a special caramel mayonnaise and fresh veggies along with the grilled chicken. The café is very clean with Bright decor. The service staff were helpful in ringing up my order. It was a little confusing to see the order screens on the counter turned towards me but were not operating...maybe self-service ordering will be in the works? Was my Chicken sandwich the best I've had? No. There could been more chicken but then the prices would increase. There are better places around the City and for authentic go to the Tenderloin. Great banh mi! Super flavorful and tender chicken, yummy veggies, and also has a nice mayo sauce. I liked the crunchiness of the bread which didn't (!) hurt the roof of my mouth to eat. Also not too expensive for the Marina area. I also tried the chicken pho and while the soup was delicious, I didn't love the chicken (slightly dry) and the noodles (very al dente). The Saigon Chicken Salad is a must-try! the chicken is so tender and juicy, and the dressing is perfectly balanced: tangy, not too sweet or sour. I'm a big fan of bun mee. I've been going to the location on Fillmore Street and figured it would be the same. Yum. We went there today to pick up sandwiches to take to Moscone. It's the first weekend of spring! The sandwiches are so good. They ask if you want jalapeños and of course, we do! I got the tofu bun mee because it's the only vegetarian option. He got the first item on the sandwich menu which was the five spice chicken. The bread is crunchy and fresh. Yum! I love the ratio of carrots and cilantro. I'm taking one star off my delicious experience because they have beer and wine on their menu, but don't have their liquor license apparently to serve. They should just cover up that part of their menu to be transparent. If you do want beer or wine, go to Marina Deli otherwise, get Vietnamese New Orleans style coffee. read more

I was excited to see another Banh Mi spot open up in the Marina. I got a chicken banh mi and crispy egg rolls. I used to go to Asian Box nearby for Banh Mi in the area and this one was a lot better -- it was packed with veggies but still didn't feel like too much, the chicken was tender, and the bread was a good texture. The crispy egg rolls and sauce it came with were rich in flavor as well! My friend got a lemongrass tofu and enjoyed it as well, and mentioned this would become a go to spot for her. Came across this place near my hotel and got their chicken pho and a lychee vanilla tea. Chicken pho definitely needs more flavor and wish they didn't cook the bean sprouts in my pho. My lychee vanilla tea had short brown hair in it also which is disgusting. Service was fast and the tables outside are clean. I came in on a Saturday at lunch time and I was the only one there. I got a Classic Combo sandwich and some sort of strawberry lemonade type drink that I think they make themselves. They have a good amount of seating (inside only) if you want to eat there. The bread was nice and crispy, but I was underwhelmed by the pork- it was kind of chewy. The mortadella was sliced so thin and there wasn't much so you could hardly taste it. Pate was good but I would have liked more. Pickled veggies were nice and crisp. Drink was good and not too sweet! The green goddess dressing was nice but could use more salt and a greater quantity to better coat the salad fixings. I received a coupon in the mail and decided to give Bun Mee a try. I am really glad I did! I ordered the Mama Tran's Crispy Egg Rolls, the Ribeye Steak Dip, and the Crunchy Saigon Chicken Salad. Everything was outstanding! The egg rolls had a thin, crispy outside and were absolutely stuffed with filling. This is the way egg rolls should be made. The dipping sauce was light and flavorful and really brought out the flavor of the egg roll. The ribeye steak was another delightful surprise! The steak was plentiful, the bean sprouts were super fresh, and the baguette was lightly crisp on the outside and soft in the middle as if it had just come out of the oven. The pho broth was light, savory and the perfect complement to the sandwich. This sandwich was delicious without the dip and next level with the dip! The salad was my favorite. I was a little hesitant to order it because I am not a big fan of cabbage. They changed my view on cabbage. The cabbage was shredded so thin I didn't even realize I was eating cabbage. There were also small slivers of carrot, discs of cucumber, crispy wontons and a nice mix of herbs. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the dressing was unbelievable! This is hands down the best salad in the Marina. What I ordered was more than enough to share with someone else and I could not recommend this new gem in the Marina any higher.
