Honestly I am not well versed in bun mang vit. I really enjoyed this dish. My bf and I split a large. Good portion of noodles and duck. Second, the servers were so fast. As soon as they took my order, I started getting condiments like fish sauce and spicy sauces. Everything, including the food, came out all at once and so fast that I didn't know where to start first. The egg rolls and grilled pork spring rolls were pretty good. When we asked for more mint leaves, they obliged. The special bun mang vit hay was pretty good. The soup was delicious. It had some liver and bamboo shoots too. The other plate came with some shredded cabbage and all sorts of duck parts. I don't know what I ate, but tbh I only really enjoyed the dark meats. They had restrooms in the back. For non Asian, walking in and the smell of bamboo will be overwhelming. Like the name of the restaurant, they specialize in bamboo duck noodle soup. For the amount of food we got, the price is very low. We even have leftovers! We get this huge plate of cut up ducks on top of raw cabbage with some light fish sauce. In your bowl soup there are noodles and bamboo. You can either add all the duck cabbage into your soup bowl or just eat it separately. There's really not a right or wrong way to eat it. The portions are large and I almost couldn't finish the regular size on my own. The broth is simple but so comforting and flavorful, reminding me of the noodle soups I had in Asia. They speak both Vietnamese and English but the person who served me didn't speak English too well so I pointed at what I wanted and he got the gist. I wasn't offered any water refill nor napkins and he didn't come by and check on me at all so the service wasn't the best. I had a craving for it one day and I'm generally not a fan of bamboo shoots because it can be done wrong in so many ways. The restaurant is in a strip past the big Crawfish and Noodles restaurant strip on Bellaire. It's quaint and has a friendly staff, and it's always full of people. The bun mang vit is a hot soup that is interestingly good to eat, and it comes with a side of Vietnamese salad. The flan is iced on top, soft, and not too sweet, again, interesting.
