If you are going to lounge by the pool at the Andaz, this is definitely the place to eat. Aside from being super convenient because they provide the poolside service, the food and drinks were great! Over the course of our week stay in September, we dined here a few times. The service was awesome. The servers were friendly and attentive. The food arrived in covered white plastic boxes with bamboo utensils. Wait time varied. The quality and portion sizes of the food was very good. And the taste of the food and drinks were delicious. My favorite was the vegetarian Coconut Curry Bowl which was delicious. My bf enjoyed his local fish catch of the day sandwich which was Opah. The Bloody Mary was amazing and filled with veggies. Great birthday lunch with my nieces here! Views are magnificent and food is fresh and service is spot on. It is a bit pricy but what do you expect for a place like this outdoors and airy and the cool breeze hitting your smiling face, it feels like something never like before. This is my go to place for special lunches even if it's just a celebration of the weekend. Happy hour has reduces prices too on drinks but no kama'aina rates as of now. There is no need for a reservation for lunch. Servers all super attentive and eager to please and make your meal the best. Try any of the salads or bowls and the Wagu Burger is my fav. This is the pool bar/restaurant at the Andaz Hotel. My mom and I had lunch here one day and also ordered food from the pool one day. The restaurant has some nice umbrella covered tables at the top of the pool area. There is also a bar with seats around it, as well as TVs. They also have live entertainment some evenings. When we actually ate at the restaurant, we had the following: Kalua pork fries: crisp cut waffle fries topped with pulled pork, cheddar, cheese sauce, fresh guacamole, upcountry pico de gallo and onion sour cream. These were like nachos but with waffle fries. These were good but the portion was huge and there was too much cheese sauce. And I did not really like the seasoning on the waffle fries. Lobster grilled cheese: roasted garlic bread, white cheddar, tomato relish. Mom liked this but it was also a large portion and too messy. It had a nice lobster flavor though and lots of cheese. At the pool, I had the fresh catch tacos: local fresh fish (mahi mahi that day), fire roasted tropical fruit salsa, cumin sour cream, sesame-ginger slaw, and sliced jalapenos. These were tasty though the fish was a bit fishy. Loved the slaw. Fresh fish and veggies. Mom had a side of waffle fries. This was a huge portion. Again I did not like the seasoning on them. I also ordered a blue hawaiian drink: white rum, blue curacao, coconut cream, lemon, pineapple. This was really tasty but cost $19. And it was a small plastic cup mostly ice, barely any liquor. Came down here for a lazy afternoon snack in early Spring 2019 and ended up being overall happy with most of our experience at Bumbye Beach Bar. We ordered a mai tai and blue Hawaiian to start - my husband's mai tai was INCREDIBLY potent and stiff while my blue Hawaiian, although tasty, was super weak and unimpressive. We ended up switching drinks halfway due to the sheer lack of alcohol in mine. For the price (high teens), would've like to at least feel a little something, and I'm a lightweight as it is. Also had some sort of decadent fries/nacho thingy. If you're looking for a few extra pounds on your vacation, this rich and tasty dish will jumpstart your journey. Mmmmmmmm!!!! The views! The deliciousness!!!! Go here! I was very hesitant to get the lobster grilled cheese because it said it was in garlic sourdough. I LOVE sourdough bread but not garlic. She said you can not do it without the garlic because it's baked in but that it's not very overpowering. So I tried it. It was sooooooo good! I did NOT regret my choice...at all! Especially when my husband got his fish sandwich which did not look anywhere close to as yummy as mine. He said it was ok but nothing great. He regretted his choice. I got waffle fries and he got straight cut fries. We were both pleased with the fries. The only down side to waffle fries is that they always give you such a small portion. I could have had way more. But they were good! The service was good. A little slow but not terrible. We had to get to a lei making class so I ran to grab our check and we checked right out. The views from the tables are spectacular. The umbrellas keep you shaded. I recommend dining here...especially if you are already staying at the Andaz! There is no lack of pineapples or taros, and in fact we got the katsu sandwich with taro bun, gochujang mayo, and a side of waffle fries. The food was good and delicious, and they kindly split the plate for us when we told them we were sharing. My husband must have tried almost every drink on the menu -- from the mai tai to the blue Hawaiian. Even the "Road to Hana" mango smoothie was delicious. We were also super impressed with their environmentally conscious packaging! Ketchup containers were biodegradable, as were the utensils. And the sturdy white containers were both reusable and chic. While staying at the Andaz, we spent a lot of time at Bumbye the drink options are amazing (but pricey) and the staff is extremely attentive. There were a few times we would have to wait for 10 minutes, but it's usually pretty busy so give them a break. Our favorite and by far best day of service was at the lowest level bar with Bianca and her team. They were all SO nice and friendly and provided great recommendations for food + drinks. Bianca also gave us a lot of general info for the island, and you could just tell the entire staff vibed very well together making the overall experience A+. I would not leave the Andaz without trying the coconut mojitos (frozen) and the jalapeno marg. Vegans: I would recommend getting the spring roll with just avocado. I did have the Soba Noodle salad twice which we were told was vegan but it made me feel very ill both days, so I think they may have had misunderstood + my sensitive stomach. Bumbye Beach Bar is located adjacent to the infinity pool at Andaz. My 5* rating is purely based on the experience and not on the food or drinks. In my opinion, visiting the Bumbye Beach Bar is the best way to take advantage of the best of what Andaz has to offer (the infinity pools) for those on a limited budget or for those who don't want to spend upwards of 600-700$ a night at the hotel. You can valet your car, go right to the pool chairs, and a server from Bumbye Beach Bar will come up to you to take your order. The drinks are pretty expensive....$16/cocktail, smoothies are $8, and food items span a range from $10-$30. You don't have to order much. When I was a hotel guest, I ordered 1 smoothie. Add in a valet tip of $3-$5 and you'll be able to enjoy the pool for ~$15 at a minimum. If too many people start doing this, I can imagine Andaz cracking down but in the meantime, this is probably the best and cheapest way to experience the Andaz pool without paying a lot of $ out of your pocket. In my opinion, the most friendly (and most attractive) bartenders in the string of resort beach bars in the Wailea area. Plus the guys here can make a mean cocktail... Like the coconut wired, which was originally a virgin cocktail, but just get it with rum to make it "wired." I also had their chopped salad, which was kale, mac nuts, avocado and radish. It's a great place to watch the sunset, although the seating and umbrella positions don't quite keep the sun out of your eyes. We had a great server, and both of the cocktails I had were very good -- the Pimms Rangoon and Game of Thrones (I especially liked this one!). Drinks are a bit pricey, even for a resort ($19 each), but it still beats the $26 cocktail I had at a skytop lounge in New York once. And at least the serving was generous and good quality. The views are stunning. Look over the 3 infinity pools and walk down-- all the way down-- to the bar (on the right with cool couches). My son had eel/avocado sushi which he loved. My husband and I had martinis. Pls try the lillikoi martini-- delicious. The staff, from the valets to the bartenders were extremely helpful and friendly. You know they are top notch when they ignore the fact that you still have sand on your legs and feet, and their only goal is to make you comfortable.
