Mac n' cheese to-go order and slice of tasty cornbread.
Oliver B.

Take-out order of mac n' cheese was decent and included a very tasty and moist piece of cornbread. Mac n' cheese rating on a scale of 1-10 is a 7 for interesting use of Penne pasta instead of macaroni and decent taste, although not worth a special trip. The corn bread, which I usually don't like because it's way too dry and sweet, was actually the best cornbread I have ever had, on a scale of 1-10 it's definitely 10.

Over the years, I've probably been here dozens of times as it was nearby where we used to live. Also a quick walk to the House side of the Hill, it's popular with young government professionals for after work drinks. On the after we stopped in, it was filled and just got louder the longer we stayed. They have a lot of outdoor seating along the sidewalk, which is great for warmer weather, or under heaters if it's cold. Inside along the left is a big wooden bar with stools, and high top tables. To the right is the dining room with tables of various sizes for a more sit down experience. You can also order from the bar if you want appetizers to go with your drinks. The bartenders were super fast and attentive, being busy is clearly the norm here. I remember their food being okay, maybe good in a pinch. The bar has all manner of hard drinks and a respectable beer list. Glassware was clean and cold as well, prices reasonable with drink specials available as well. If you're exploring the Hill and in need a respite, this is a fun local place for some drinks and food.

Strawberry Feta salad

After checking out the Botanical gardens (and a long day of travel), we decided it was time to get lunch. Looking up different places near us (on Yelp ) and Bullfeathers fit the bill. Lots of outdoor seating and plenty of room inside too! We always like seeing what others have ordered so while walking to our table, we saw lots of salads. The strawberry feta salad was so delicious! The honey-basil vinaigrette was perfectly paired with the arugula and strawberries. My sister got the black n blue salad which she enjoyed quite a bit. If you're wandering around Capitol Hill in search of food, hit this place up!

Honey Sriracha Lime wings and Crab Cake.

Holy Hole In The Wall!! This place was amazing--my server, JC, was prompt and friendly. His recommendation: crab cakes and honey sriracha lime sauce totally worth it!! Trust me, not a disappointment and definitely a be-back spot!! Mark this as must visit location in DC...a true foodie must stop!

Closed at 8:30 for no reason. No reason to not update your hours if you're gonna close at 8:30 on a Friday night.

The spot to be in Capitol Hill. All the locals come here for a good time. It's not the best food but a fun experience.

Another old-fashioned pub on the hill. Nice place to get a drink at the bar after work.

After visiting the tidal basin to enjoy the cherry blossoms, we walked to the Wharf area and…read morestopped by Willowsong for some local cuisine. Really enjoyed the local bass which had a crispy skin and was cooked at the perfect amount of tender. The cocktails were good and our server was friendly. The black squid ink pasta was good. The sweet potato pie was okay, potentially lackluster compared to the rest of the food. Loved the indoor / outdoor seating especially on a day that had beautiful weather.

I had never been before, and he was seemed curious to try, so we stopped by. They have outdoor seating, but there was no service at the time, which was too bad because the weather was outstanding. The host is said we could take drinks out there, but not food. So we just opted for the bar. Thankfully, they eventually opened one of the doors real wide so the outdoor air was coming in and that was nice. Happy hour was going until 6:30, and I have to admit that some of these happy hour prices are regular prices at other places XD, but remember it's the wharf. And there was a time when happy hour there wasn't even a thing. So I got a glass of wine and yellowtail tacos with salad. I wasn't expecting the yellowtail to be fried, but it was fine. The salad was way bigger than I thought it would be. It was good. My cousin got the burger and fries... I tasted it and I think I enjoyed the burger more, haha. That smoked cheddar, whew! I found the fries to be pretty average. The ambiance of the place is very nice and I could see myself returning. Some other people at the bar got some amazing looking dishes too, but I know they were expensive XD.

The process was secure, the food and beverage minimum was fair, and once everything was confirmed, I felt completely set. When we arrived, our tables were already arranged and set up nicely. The space looked great and was perfect for a large group dinner. The only hiccup happened at the start. Our server briefly tried to seat another party at our reserved tables. They were part of a large group as well, just not nearly as large as ours. Once I let him know they were not with our party, he immediately moved them to their correct smaller table and everything was resolved quickly. Another small disappointment was that they were already out of the lasagna and the sangria, which was surprising since we arrived right at the start of dinner service. After that, the night went smoothly. Service was good, drinks came out fast, and food timing stayed consistent even with such a large group. If they have the braised ribs, you absolutely need to get them. Hands down one of the best dishes on the menu. Generous portions and full of flavor. The blood orange mule was decent and refreshing. The spicy margarita had great flavor, though I would have loved a little more heat. Still very enjoyable. Overall, Makers Union handled a 22 person reservation extremely well. Great atmosphere, solid service, and food that delivers. I would definitely return for another group dinner or celebration.

There was a wedding AND a bridal shower occuring at the same time. There is upstairs to the restaurant and the wedding was happening up there. There is also an outdoor porch area where the bridal shower was occuring. Most of the seating inside was high top seating. All the wines are made in house and there was a large selection! Our server (who may also be the manager/owner?) was very kind and explained some of the wines for us. We got 2 of their flights and they were all excellent. The Library Collection has some unique drinks. They do sell most of their bottles to go (pic of pricing in this review!). They also make food and they all smelled great. I would love to go back and try more wines and some of their food!

We got a Chef's Whim board which was fun and filling. We also got the Winemakers and Library flights. Our server was very knowledgeable about the wines. I'm not giving them 4 stars for a few reasons. I wish I could build my own flight because each flight choice had wines I didn't like. I also wish there were more menu items. And, the bench seating cushions were worn through almost to the stuffing which was really surprising that they would let them get that bad at a restaurant like this. That said, we had a great meal with a great server. I don't think we'll be back though.
