This is our first time trying Buko Resto Bar, and we honestly didn't expect the place to have such a fun and lively atmosphere in person. It definitely gives off a true resto-bar vibe with a DJ and karaoke that make the experience even more enjoyable. The food was amazing. we loved the BBQ skewers and grilled liempo. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The service was also excellent; the waitress was very attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our visit. I went here for a soft launch of their brunch specials: for your choice of: ube waffles and chicken or ube french toast or omelette station (ala carte of add on to the other menu items), you also get either coffee, tea, cranberry juice or some other juice. Since it was soft launch there was a DJ at brunch, not sure if you'll get that every time. The venue was dressed up for the brunch with white linen table cloths, gold chargers, all place settings including salad fork. Nice lighting with booths with a view to the bar. Wait staff was polite but felt like they are still new or are still tentative to taking orders. I chose to have coffee and it wasn't served to me even after asking for it a second time. This place could be easily missed if you don't know where to look since it's co-located in a gas station parking lot. You can tell that this place is a popular weekend hot spot because they had a dj, offer karaoke and have a patio outside that has a ton of TVs for sports. The service was prompt and the food was good. I ordered the crispy pata and it was delicious as expected and came with garlic rice. The lumpia was tasty as well. I don't remember what drink I ordered because the food stole the show. Just know that if you choose to sit at the enclosed patio, it's smoker-friendly, that's the only downside. It was a vibe but it stunk so badly because of the smokers. They didn't tell us that it was smoker friendly and I'm surprised that they allowed it in an enclosed area. Me and my partner love trying different filipino restaurants in the area and when we found out about Buko we were excited. The first time we walked into Buko they were decorating for an event and no one had greeted us at all despite there being someone behind the bar who obviously worked there. One of the major things we noticed were the floors, they were extremely sticky. We had to approach the bar ourselves and get the worker's attention only to be told that they were out of all pork products... as you may know a huge part of what makes Filipino food is pork.. so we decided to leave and try again. Now our second time walking into Buko roughly a month later we were unsure if it was even open. No one was there to greet us no one was in the kitchen and once again the floors were extremely sticky. A couple had arrived after us and just walked into the back kitchen and we weren't sure if they were even open or if they even had pork products that day so we decided to leave only for someone to come out of some door and asked us if we needed help as we were getting into our car. Unfortunately I didn't have the chance to even try the food, but after further discussion with my fellow filipino friends who are well versed in Filipino cuisine, in the area recommended against Buko. read more

We went there specifically for Filipino food and its so far the best I've had (compared to the ones in MD) Food and drinks are prices right! And the non Filipino food from the menu also looked great. Went out here late at night to grab a bite with Lanni. The parking is pretty sketchy but not too bad. We sat at the patio which was pretty chill and I ordered us some food. To my surprise, they were serving Silog (Filipino breakfast) very late at night! I ordered spamsilog and an order of tokwat baboy. Came in for what they posted on Fbook "Taco Tuesday". When we walked in there was nobody in the establishment. We sat ourselves at one of the booths. I noticed a bartender standing at the bar on his phone. I went up to the bar and he did not look up until I said hello to him. No greeting by him but a rude "Are you with them in the back?" Clearly I was with my family since once again we were the only people there! He then gave me dirty menus and I took them back to my family. A few minutes later he walked to the table and said "You guys ready to order?" It's amazing how a simple hello or welcome would have gone. But clearly customer service is not a priority. We were excited to try the Filipino dishes and dollar menu advertised on Facebook. My mother began ordering. The man then cut her off and said he needed to go check with the kitchen to see what they actually had available...... He then came back and told us the many things on the menu that were unavailable including TACOS for taco Tuesday! We still tried to give the establishment a chance and ordered what we thought we could. A few moments after placing our order he came back and asked us what were the Hangover Noodles. We told him it was something on their menu and he said "Show me." How does a worker not know their own menu? Anyways, after we showed him we walked away only to come back to tell us "yea we don't have that." That was the final straw and we decided to leave. Paid for our drinks and went elsewhere. I came here for the night life experience. While the DJ was playing lit tracks and the transitions were good, no one was dancing. And it's definitely not the bar's fault, they deserve more publicity because I know more people would come out here if they knew about this place. Drinks were fairly priced and they were generous with how much alcohol they put in our drinks. They got security that wands down women and pants down men but it's no big deal. The alcohol taste was not overwhelming, but it was a generous enough pour that you knew it was there. We came in before the club crowd, so it was quiet, and the service was friendly. Our meals took awhile to arrive and didn't come out together, but we were enjoying a date night and not in a hurry. As other people have mentioned, there is a 20% gratuity added to the check regardless of party size, which we didn't mind as that is the minimum we usually tip. So to satisfy her pallet we went to a place new to us called Buko Restaurant. The place wasn't busy at all so we thought our order wouldn't take too long. We placed an order of the fried treat to go and waited patiently by the entrance. 20 minutes later we get our order and head out. We wanted to munch on a few pieces while in the car so she opened the container and was shocked at what we got for $8. It literally looked like 1/4 or what a normal order would contain. So I have to update my review. Buko Resto made it all happen and they helped make our baby shower event top notch perfect. I last was here to check the venue and to taste test what would've been good for the baby shower event. We coordinated how we would organize and decorate the room to fit our theme. I last gave them 4 stars. To my surprise... after all was said and done, they really hooked us up with all we needed. We had videos of the mommy to be on the big screen. Having it showcased on the TVs all over the room was a big plus. The spotlights and the Dj booth was an even better addition. We were given full control to make the baby shower our own. When it came to game time the sound system and Dj booth was put to use and made the baby shower more lively. We had music running the whole time. We even had our photo booth to fit perfectly on the side of the room. They also have their own photo booth featured at the entrance for when customers come and go. You can email your picture taken at buko's.. another cool element to this restaurant/bar. The winning part of our venue was the superb staff that helped partially with our setup and uncle Lito who made sure we were 100% satisfied. He said he wouldn't be there for our event but he showed up there from beginning and made sure in the end we had a good time. Price wise for this venue, I thought we would have spent a lot to accommodate our guests but for $15 per head and food provided.. it's a good deal for everything given to us. It's spacious and because there isn't so much traffic of people coming in and out of this restaurant, it's an ideal location. With Other Filipino restaurants that are more known in the area as competition this is a secret gem. The food really tasted on point for our event. They really took it up a notch when I knew the Pancit I tasted this Time was flavorful. Compared to my last review, I wasn't to impressed last time with trying the Pancit initially. I guess the review and our feedback helped because we were not going to order the Pancit. But thanks to uncle Lito for working his magic. The food selections of choice was a hit. The bbq skewers went fast and the lumpia did not disappoint us. The sisig although it wasn't on a sizzling platter because we had to have a big batch for the party was great too. My favorite but of course is the buko pandan drink! It's with the pandan jellies and coconut strips, milk, topped with a cherry and whip cream.. boy I'd come here just for this any day. Sadly being out in Chesapeake, puts me on restriction. I have to give the whole team 5 stars and I recommend this place for the perfect venue and service all around. It's not a Grand Affairs but for social gatherings and small events this is the place. Food is good but the service needs some work. Had to flag a waiter down to get water instead of the occasional checking in at your table. Maybe the servers just don't care how good their service is because the restaurant charges 20% right off the top for "gratuity". It takes at least 40 minutes to get our food. We had to send the crispy pata back as it took an hour to get it and we were done eating already and are ready to go. They always got a bunch of gimmicks going on that it gets too loud to enjoy the food or even have a conversation. My first visit here on a Saturday night with my coworkers was quite a regretful one. If you don't want to read my trail of complaints of everything that could've gone wrong that went wrong that night....then take my advice. You may want to try somewhere else. A riend had suggested that we try this place out. However, I guess we must've visited them on a bad day, a VERY VERY bad day. Arrived a little after 8pm, in which there was only about 3-4 other tables being served at the time. So not a busy time yet. The setting is dark with loud music playing, flashing strobe lights, and a giant projector on the wall. To start off we were given 3 menus for the 8 of us that were present. Yes, let's just all share the menus and try to read them in the dark. The server advertised to us an alcoholic drink called "Bananas Gone Buko" which was supposed to be in a "huge fish bowl". It came out in a glass smaller than the standard water cup. And she said "oh they must be smaller today". And to top it off it tasted like straight banana juice. My fiancé gets serious Asian glow from even the smell of beer. She drank nearly half the thing and even said "is this supposed to be alcohol??" I also ordered the Sizzling Chicken Sigsig and Chicken tacos. After sitting around for a half hour, only 2 out of the 6 dishes came out. Sat around for another half hour and she brought out the "chicken tacos". Unfortunately, we had to find out the hard way that they were pork. And my fiancé can't eat pork.... At this point the rest of us had been waiting for over an hour for the other half of the food to arrive. And we continued to inquire about them, but the server just continued to blame everything on the kitchen and failed to do anything about it. At this point we just wanted to get out of there. When my friend and I tried to go up and pay. They seriously tried to make us pay for the food that we NEVER GOT. We were instead met with unfriendly attitudes and rolling eyes. As the server spoke to the mananger right in front of us, all he did was shake his head and said "this is not good for business". THAT'S IT. Didn't even want to make eye contact with his own customers. As we paid, not a single apology for sitting waiting till 10pm for absolutely nothing but the worst service and a terrible experience. AND YES, I had to pay the full price of $9 for my fake drink. And $6 for my PORK tacos. (I ordered chicken) Sorry, but you couldn't PAY me to step foot back in here. read more

You can hear underground house, techno, and drum and bass one night and salsa or karaoke another! Just awful. The only thing good is the food I've tried but the service just SUCKS. Taking ten minutes plus to get our drink order and another 20 for our drinks? Not busy. Bartender too busy chatting up one lady sitting at his bar instead of making drinks or the server was just too slow. Or both. Her attitude sucked too, the server's did. Came for karaoke night. Seems some people get to sing over and over and over and some folks get to sing one song every three hours. Won't be back. Not to mention, nobody from the business has responded to any of the negative reviews on here or FB for the last year. I asked for the menu to order food and the bar tender told me that they don't have any of these 6 items. Mind you, this is Saturday and you would think they'll have the bar food in stock. Unfortunately this place did not meet our expectations... Not even kind of. We have been here a couple of times before to have some drinks. This was the first time we came early during 'restaurant hours'. The other times it was later when there's a DJ, dancing etc. This visit we decided to play pool and grab a bite to eat. The place was empty with the exception of a couple of other people. At first, someone came to greet us immediately and gave us a couple of menus. He said he would come back to check on us again in a little bit. He never did. After waiting for what felt like forever for someone to check on on us...another worker came in the back to get something and we asked her if we could get some change because we didn't want to get $20 worth of quarters from the change machine. We let her know we were also planning to order some things off the menu. She told us we could get change in the front and didn't bother to offer to get change for us or take our food orders? Anyways, I went to the bar to place our food order, get some change and order two drinks- A Bacardi and coke and a Jameson and ginger ale. Not sure if this place has an assigned person to serve people in the pool area? Or if it's the norm for you to have to go to the bar and place your own order. If that was the case I'm fine with that but it wasn't really clear in the beginning since somebody said they would come and check on us when we were given menus. First round of drinks were okay probably because I had to go to the bar and order them myself and I watched her make the drinks... The second round of drinks was a huge mistake.... Barely any alcohol in them! These drinks were not worth it. Dave drank his without complaining but mentioned it was 'weak' - probably less than an ounce of liquor. I sipped mine and decided I didn't want it. Tasted like there was no liquor in it. I'm not even sure we would come back... Terrible service, terrible. I didn't have a warm feeling when we left. So i ordered the actual sisig entree but it does not have your traditional sisig taste so i had to put salt (they can't even afford a salt and pepper shaker).The lumpia is a rip off because even though it's 15 of them but they're actually 7 because they cut them in 2 inches to make it 15 count. This was my first time here and it was a good experience up until I had a run in with the manager. First off let me say to anyone whoever has to talk to the manager rather you are wrong or you are right, you are not going to win with her. So it's pointless to talk to her. I think they should find a better manager who knows about courtesy and talking to people. I never met her before yesterday, so I don't know what reason she had for sending me negative energy but ok well. As the night goes on I'm having a good time up until I take a seat and sit down with my cup of ice. I take a sip of my cup of ice then place it on the table right in front of me and not even a minute later she walks past picks up my cup and takes it to the trash. I yelled hey but she didn't hear me cause this is in a loud music setting so I ran over to her and told her I was drinking that and she says a cup of ice. And then asks me repeatedly I'm drinking a cup of ice in a tone that was unnecessary so then she gets a little atitude and then goes to get me another cup. Hen she comes back I had to ask her because I didn't understand why she was the one with an attitude when she threw my cup away without asking me if I was done with it. I could see if the cup was left unattended or if she had cleaned up all of the cups on the table but why would she just grab my cup that is right in front of me and leave the test of the unattended bottles and cups on the table? To make all of this even worse some guy who knew nothing about the entire situation jumps in obviously taking her side and asking me the same question why am I getting mad over cup. Then by this time bouncers are in our area and she pulls the same petty stuff that people who know they are wrong do which is threaten to throw me out and trys to deny me water because of the cup of ice thing. read more
