Finally made it to Verdugo's I live in Temecula so it's almost a 2 hour drive. We came for dinner on Sunday Nov. 5th and it was great! The level of service is outstanding! From the host to the butcher to our waiter Bryant WOW! The drinks are great the appetizers Wedge salad and sweet and sour shrimp were delicious. We shared a tomahawk it was very flavorful and juicy! Little overcooked but still tasty. Asparagus and lobster mashed potatoes good. The place is nice and airy. TV wall playing soft old school jazz videos. Thought that was weird but didn't bother me. My wife and I first time here and the owner made our experience great. The restaurant is nice and clean looking, and the waitress and the bus boys where very friendly. My wife steak came out wrong and the owner took care of it so quickly which surprise me. He corrected the steak and it was really good. The Mac & cheese I suggest you get when you come add the lobster and thank me later. My ribeye steak which was awesome and my wife had Filet Mignon. We enjoyed all the sides and all drinks. I had a disappointing experience took my sister to celebrate her birthday, my party and I were the only ones in the restaurant when we ordered our food, yet they still managed to forget our food order. We asked for a drink menu since we never received one and it took 15 minutes to receive one. Customer service was lacking. Food was brought out and fried calamari was missing, waitresses never came back to check if anything was missing till everyone was done with their food, was still charged on the bill and when asked to remove she was hesitant. Had the privilege of coming here the night after the grand opening. Parked at El Taco since parking is a lil tricky, but they didn't seem to mind. Making a reservation on Opentable was a breeze and they saw who I was and sat me right away even though I was early. It is apparent there is a lot of thought in the dishes and they are very flavorful. The lobster bisque had nice chunks of lobster on top. It was a slower night so the food came out super quick which was a pleasant surprise for something like a high quality steak (it was very thick). All the sides held their own and the desserts were on point. Service-wise it's obvious there's a lot of heart here. The owner Ralph checks in more than once making sure everything is good with all the tables. The server Jailene is very amicable and passionate about the menu. Sam comes in every half an hour or so to sing and adds a nice show to the dinner (we're talking powerful notes). The duet she sang with a little girl was extra touching at the end. This is a place to take someone you care about and have a nice time. The pricing is upscale because of the ambience and quality. It is definitely a special occasion worth having. read more

It's a decent place. It is overpriced. They were attentive to our party's needs. We were a party of 6, the gratuity was included in the bill. The menu is a bit weird. I asked the waitress if the scallops come alone? She said it did so I ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes. When I received my plate I noticed the 4 scallops came with risotto. The plate was $49 for scallops and $13 for the garlic mashed potatoes. Nothing special or memorable about their food. They have music. The other issue was parking. They have plenty of parking;however, a uhaul 20 inch truck parked in the middle of the parking lot preventing cars to be able to get out without hitting the truck. It should be the parking lot for the restaurant but appears it is being shared with other business. The establishment is attempting to be a high end but the food does not meet the standards. The people are great. They were courteous and accommodating. However the service itself needs improvement. This place is suffering from an identity crisis. It's a family restaurant, club and sports bar. The music was nice and the gentleman singing was great. The feedback sounds at times were unbearable along with the volume. If they could just lower the volume and fix the feedback it would be very pleasing to have the live music while eating with your family. It took about 45 minutes just to order our food and took about the same to get our order. Which wouldn't have matter if the music wasn't blasting the whole time. To give you an idea of how loud it was our Apple Watches kept alerting us that it was too loud. The food wasn't good either. At least it wasn't good enough to return. I feel bad because I think that if they would just make a few changes this place would be nice. This restaurant is excellent. I wish I could give them 6 stars!! My family and I went there to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary and had the most wonderful time! The food was amazing and cooked to perfection! Wide variety of prime steak cuts and sides. The owner personally greeted us and gave us a special drink to toast the occasion -- it was the best "old fashioned" I ever tasted. They added special ice to each glass...one in the shape of a flower and the other in the shape of the heart. Oh and, one of the servers performs live music, she has the voice of an angel! LUNCH is Open!!! We were very excited to hear that Verdugo's opened for lunch so we could get a nice lunch date in between work, without the kiddos. I had GRILLED OCTOPUS which was Amazing! Just like served at the sister restaurant Buena Mesa. Husband got the FILET MIGNON which he thought was great. The BEEET SALAD and LOBSTER MASHED POTATOES were different so we had to try them. They were great. Very flavorful! Our server, Zoey, was very attentive and asked if it was our first time here. She went over the menu without us having to ask her. We appreciate that. We are so happy that VERDUGO's is finally open up here in Downey, and look forward to going here for Date Night instead of having to go farther. This was our third visit and plan on making this our regular steakhouse You need to finish the details on the inside like the bar that's in the back. Looks frightening not very inviting and terrible lighting. You need a lighting designer to help you light the bar and back the bar in front. I don't think it's finished either. There isn't any alcohol there Done the wine storage clicks unfinished as well. You should make that wine collection on the wall a wine cooler with glass in front and temperature control inside to hold the bottles. It would be a great focal point for the restaurant. The outside with the white tablecloths and chairs looks incomplete as well would at least plant it or color it up with something I'm sure you're not done with that either I know this all takes revenue but if you don't get off to a nice start, you're going to be in big trouble quickly. read more

The inside looks like it would be better suited for a bar and grill type of restaurant, not a steak house. Mind you, the prices for the steaks are not cheap. They taste really good though. Attended this establishment on Sunday 8/11 and ordered some oysters and NY strips. The oysters arrived and tasted bitter. Did not think much of it so I decided to judge based on the NY strip. We ordered 2 NY strips, one came out right away and the other was forgotten about. The forgotten NY strip arrived 10 minutes later, blue rare. To not risk any more damage, I returned the blue rare steak and opted to share the NY strip that came out first. Currently throwing up and suffering the wrath of this establishment (food poisoning). The Drinks are good, food is good but service needs work. Everything was great from the beginning, got some good recommendations on drinks (Downey girl is fire) and we got an order of calamari and some sides to share along with our main meal. I ordered a lobster Mac and cheese along with mashed potatoes, truffle fries, steak, and chicken piccata. Our waiter repeated the order to us to make sure everything was right. When he brought out the Mac and cheese we realized it was not lobster Mac and cheese, it was plain Mac and cheese. We brought it to our waiters attention and he insisted it was our error? He had repeated the order and confirmed it was lobster Mac and cheese so how was it our fault? Instead of correcting it right away he kept saying that's what we ordered before he ended up taking it back and bringing us our correct side. This caused us to lose our appetite and we couldn't continue enjoying our food. The chicken piccata and sides were delicious but unfortunately I had to take it to go. Our waiter did not try to make the situation right, he delivered our Mac and cheese and disappeared. Christian the busser came up to us and apologized for something that was not his fault. He heard us out and apologized for the poor experience we had. Christian went above and beyond to try to rescue the night. Christian was the highlight of the night. Decided to try Verdugo's for Valentine's Day wanting a quality steak dinner. Arrived to a dining area that was just a bunch of tables in an open area with no table cloths and very basic. It took around 15 minutes for our server to come over and that was ok, we ordered drinks, fried calamari and oysters Rockefeller for appetizers and two Old Fashioned cocktails. The cocktails arrived quickly but we waited another 20 minutes before the calamari arrived. Calamari was over cooked and chewy. 15 more minutes before the oysters Rockefeller arrived which were very average. In the meantime, who I believed to be the owner or manager was walking around vacuuming. The ambiance was very weak, like an unfinished remodel. At this point we decided to go somewhere else. The owner/manager came by and asked how everything was and we were honest with him. When the waitress came by we asked for our bill. $100 for this?? She seemed oblivious to our disappointment.
