Mike was super fast with a quote and helped me figure out how many movers I may need - didn't try to "upsell" me anything and even suggested I send a video/pictures of the space to see what would really be necessary. I ended up using their packing and moving services with three movers - one helped finish packing and the other two began loading my already-packed boxes and furniture to the truck. They had all the supplies to help get everything safely packed up including an heirloom mirror and some fragile art pieces. Even though they were fast, the packing was safe and sturdy. I budgeted for an eight hour move and these guys got it done in 5 hours! Super reasonable pricing, friendly workers. Highly highly recommend! read more

Best moving service I had ever used! Fast, friendly, efficient and very safe. Zero damage to the stuff or to the house. I had a 3 person crew come in, and they had loaded everything (all furniture and boxes) -- taking half of a box truck -- in 1.5 hours. Same for unloading (for reference, size = townhouse). Anecdote: I still had couple of boxes to pack/tape and I had realized that in the time it took me to finish one box the crew had already emptied the whole room. My TV wall mount was stuck/broken -- the guys had the tools and had safely removed the TV off the mount & off the wall. Mike (owner) had been very helpful in coordinating the move, helping me with parking permits and accommodating a last minute change request. read more

Mike and his crew moved me twice in a short period to and from a temporary unit. I have no qualms with their speed, communication, or other deliverables that we typically judge a moving company for. During the move, a brand new pair of headphones that were in their original box seemed to have disappeared. I cannot say for a fact it was anyone on their crew who may have accidentally tossed them or if it was me who had tossed them; however Mike was very good at having his crew check the entire truck and following up with me on the missing headphones. He even offered to write a check to offset (most of the) cost of a replacement pair. I really can't complain one bit about these guys, and I feel very confident in calling them again when it comes time to moving again. read more

We used Budget Moving for the second time in 2 years. We think the price and service and easy communication is worth every penny. They wore masks were fast and careful. The charges were about $600 for two men to move a one bedroom apt from Capital Hill to Eastlake. Furniture was appropriately wrapped if needed. Respectful and efficient. Really have to say that Mike the owner is super great. We had Budget Moving help us with our move a few years ago and they were fast, efficient and safely handled everything- especially a HUGE armoire that need to go up three levels of a twist and turn townhouse, without a scratch. Recently called again for possible out of state move and Mike recommended all options to reduce the cost as much as possible, including how to move ourselves if we chose to do so. Mike and his moving crew were referred to me to help with my mom's move from a Seattle area condo to an assisted living unit near Sacramento, CA. Skipping ahead to the actual move date, Jared and his moving partner got there earlier than expected (Mike had just returned from a long-distance move so had someone else do this one) and on their own put each furniture piece in its intended spot, set up the bed as requested and made the new smaller space as convenient to move around in as possible. (They had also broken down the bed, and packed some larger wall art. Mike was there on the loading up side.) They were very communicative throughout the whole process. Mike himself was very friendly and no-nonsense when he came over to do the estimate, and even later when things were settled more specifically, the modest price increase was expected and very fair. This was with an extra drop off location along the way. Everyone was also really lovely with my mom, which in any situation would be important, but given that her life was being turned upside-down was very important to me. We had neighbors refer us to Mike and Budget Moving after having used them several times with great results. We were not disappointed! Mike was very responsive in getting an estimate together (same day) and questions answered. He worked coordinated with the packing company we hired - they work together often. Moving day, the guys showed up with two trucks and 4 guys for a local move. And dare I say it was borderline enjoyable. These guys like their jobs, they listened to us and were very professional and efficient and conducted our entire move with no damage to our household goods or either house. We really couldn't have asked for a better experience and would use them again in a heartbeat. We would also recommend them to anyone who asks. I am of two minds with this experience. Today is moving day (as I type this). They were super quick and friendly which was great - but they damaged 4 of my 6 book cases. I have dark colored wood cases which now have giant long exposed white wood scratches and they are REALLY hard to hide since they are on the both sides of most of the shelves. I take really good care of my stuff and half of them were new in the place I just moved out of so I know for a fact the scratches are not from a previous move. Even though they were fast and nice, I won't be using them again because I can't afford more damaged furniture. read more

If you're looking for a Seattle moving company, look no further. Budget Moving is amazing. We hired Budget to move us from a top floor condo into a house on the opposite side of town. Mike, the owner, came to meet with me for the estimate. He sat down and explained the process, how his team works and gave me recommendations for certain pieces of furniture we had. His recommendation on number of movers needed as well as time was spot on. The day of the move, they were early and worked all day without stopping. His guys literally ran up and down our stairs and only paused so that we could point them in the proper direction. Fast forward a few months and we were having new carpet installed. I sent Mike a text the night before because we had to move our treadmill out of the workout room and realized we couldn't do it ourselves. Mike sent his guys over the next day to take it apart and put it back together for us. They even moved the furniture back into the rooms for me. Disappointed in the moving speed. Here are the things we had to move from an apartment with elevator to a 3 story townhome. queen bed (already disassambled) mattress and box spring (bagged up) one dresser mirror sectional couch (3 pieces already disassabled) coffee table end table Small office desk + one chair 36" bar table 2 bar stools one piece wood TV Stand (less than 50lbs) 5 suitcases 15 bins/boxes (packed and tapped) The primary reason for us considering using movers are the big items that we can't fit in a car so we thought if we get everything ready and the movers only need to load and unload, it should be a quick job. Google maps gives 15min to drive from their office to our apartment and 20min to drive to new house, and then 15min to drive back to their office. Including all transit time and load/unload, it took 2 guys 4 hours total to complete the job. Load/unload count for 3 hours, and they charged a whole hour for from and back to their office. They may be cheaper for the hourly rate, but their speed is nowhere close to fast, so I'm disappointed that they took longer than a reasonable expectation. To load/unload the above listed items, it should not have taken more than 2 hours and especially we got absolutely everything ready. We asked them to unload all boxes and cases in a first floor bedroom so unloading was easy too. We also asked them to leave everything disassabled too so the job was purely loading and unloading. If friends and family ask me for opinion about this moving service, I'd rate it average in quality and below average for speed. I don't know how other reviews had fast guys, I'm disappointed with mine. read more

I dont recommend budget moving at all! they are super slow, talk with their phones for more than 30 mins and then talk with each other. Show up without mask and when I asked them, they said we dont need mask! they also damaged my property while moving furniture. Dont risk moving with Budget as you end up paying much more!! read more

I used them today and could not believe how fast they were going. They come with full supplies and are ready to go. I hired Budget Moving for a move into a new house last summer. We had 2 10x15 storage units with all of our stuff from the condo we had moved out of, and needed to move everything to the new house. We had used 2 Men and a Truck to move into the unit and had a great experience, but Budget gave me a good quote, so we went with them, though I now regret that choice. To be honest, day of the movers themselves did a good job. They were friendly and they worked hard. My issue with Budget is the owner, who made rude and sexist comments, and the terrible customer service. I would not recommend them to anyone after having dealt with them during this ordeal. The full story: While the movers were moving things from the storage unit to the truck, they moved some items in the storage unit that caused a stack of boxes to fall over. To the credit of the movers, they came and told me right when it happened. I took pictures of the labels for the boxes that fell so that we could later assess the damage, and 1 box was very visibly damaged. Once we got to the house, the boxes were mixed in with everything else. I opened the one that looked damaged, and the item inside (our printer) seemed okay, so I didn't make a fuss. Similarly, the bill at the end was a bit high--they had charged me for a break the guys had taken, and charged more than we had agreed on for the time it would take to get to/from the job (we had agreed on a flat rate, but they charged more). The guys had worked hard, so again, I didn't say anything about it. Fast forward to the following day, when I was unpacking a box in the kitchen. It was a box of carefully packed assorted glasses--they were in the Home Depot divider cubbies, wrapped in packing paper, and bubble wrapped. I started to notice that everything on one side of the box was damaged, include some fairly hardy items (everyday glasses that were smashed to smithereens, a really thick beer stein that would have seemed unbreakable but was in shatters, etc.). I then began checking more carefully the boxes that had fallen--sure enough, our printer no longer worked, and the other boxes that fell also contained kitchenware that was now broken. We had a couple of boxes that had been packed with extreme care and lots of packing materials (bubble wrap, blankets, foam packaging, etc.) because they included all of our wedding china and a very nice wine decanter--sure enough, these were now in shards (a value of at least $1000). I called the owner, Mike, to explain what had happened and see what they could do, but that call was the single most unpleasant phone call I've ever had, particularly with someone you'd think would be in customer service. He vehemently denied that his crew was to blame at all, and instead blamed the way the storage units were packed. I calmly explained that I would have expected them to handle stacks of boxes, as that is how storage units are often packed, and that I would expect them to be cautious when moving things of what may shift around. The owner was very rude and continued to yell at me, even as I tried to calmly explain my point. The last thread was when he said, "Listen lady, I don't know what you aren't understanding here, so maybe I need to call and explain it to your husband instead." At that point I had so had enough of being yelled at, and couldn't believe how belittling he was being that this could be a gendered issue of not understanding how to move boxes, that I told him we had nothing further to discuss and hung up. As weeks went by after the move, I continued to find more damage to boxes that were otherwise packed very well. The small amount of money I saved by using Budget was absolutely not worth all of the damage they caused, and I would not recommend them to friend or foe. I wouldn't recommend women to deal with such a misogynist either! I couldn't believe that the owner wouldn't apologize (or even stay calm), particularly given the sentimental value of the items that were damaged--that really says to me that this is not a good person to deal with. read more

Mike and his team were fantastic on my recent move. The team was there on time, communicative, and hard working. They worked efficiently and quickly, and the job was done with no issues whatsoever. Pricing was clear and definitely a great value. We had placed some clothes and other items in garbage bags, and they even had additional boxes and items to make sure that these items were packed efficiently, even if we didn't. Mike and his crew have personally moved us 7 times, since 2006. We usually pack up most of our items in boxes/totes ourselves, but I understand they do offer a packing service. Every single move has been seamless and efficient. I know this may sound like a hype review, but truly I've never had issues. I'm a Realtor, and I've also recommended them to clients for moves, never a problem. That's the way a move should be, no issues, as there's certainly enough stress! I used Budget Moving to move from a ground floor condo in Seattle to a nearby condo in a mid rise condo. I highly recommend them! They showed up on time and worked at a fast pace. They were careful with my furniture and boxes, no damage incurred from the packing/moving process! They brought and used furniture pads, extra boxes and packing material, and were very friendly and professional. They had to transport my stuff from the street, down a ramp, through a gate and up an elevator- I was dreading this part thinking that it would take a long time to accomplish this. I was pleasantly surprised that it was not an obstacle for them. And I don't think they took a break the whole time. They brought my stuff in my new place and placed items exactly where I asked them to. And reasonably priced! I will use them again! You should use them, you won't regret it! read more

Recommended by coworkers. I initially gave 5 stars but upon reflection of a few points I find that 4 stars is a better fit. Just today (8/9/2014) moved from a 2-bed, 1200-ish sqft place to splitting between two 1-bed places, one in Kirkland and one in Seattle (with the 520 closed, which didn't make things any easier). I hired them to do all the packing (4 guys, 2 trucks), and unloading/assembly at the new places (not unpacking, though, since that's going to take a LONG time to figure out where things should go :P), and while I wasn't given a specific quote, the overall price was within 10% of my expectation (I expected about $2000, came out to $2200) but do note that you ARE paying for their time and any materials they need (which I felt were reasonable prices all around). It took about 8 hours from start to finish, starting at 8:30am, and I was charged for 9.5 hours (they include commute time). I know the guys were frustrated at first because we hadn't done a good job of sorting out some areas as far as what was going to which location, but they got to work packing up what had already been split up while we worked on the rest, and were communicative during the entire process to make sure that things got on the right trucks. (Which, as we're unpacking, they did a great job helping us separate things.) I could ding them on anything it would be that they left a number of materials at our old place (shrink wrap, door wedge/stop, packing tape, a couple beverage containers) and the attitudes of a couple of the movers at a few points during the move: 1. Upon realizing that some areas (just the kitchen, really) hadn't been split up yet (even though if they had to wait around it was me who was paying for it) 2. Upon seeing my rather embarrassingly full closet (but they did manage to make quick work of it in the end) 3. I think they'd allocated less time than it actually took for this move and they were trying to wedge in another job in the afternoon/evening, but I didn't feel like I'd been dishonest in the amount of effort the move was going to require and there wasn't anything I could really do about it at that point. 4. There were a number of times I heard complaints about having to wait around (as we sorted out some stuff, or because I couldn't get the service key to the elevator so they had to wait sometimes for the elevator), which I found extremely confusing because I'm paying their for their TIME anyway, so if I'm fine with it going slow due to circumstances beyond their control, what's the problem? The work was good (pretty fast, careful, and again they did a good job of communicating with us throughout the packing process), I know we weren't the easiest customer(s) they've ever had and they dealt with that pretty well. Slow movers with sticky fingers. I've used Budget Moving many times over the years and recommended them to countless people. I'm not sure what's happened but things have gone way downhill and I'd warn against them. We had several items stolen during the move. The owner sent us a check that covered the cost of one hour of the move, but we're still out the items that were taken, which included medications. The were very slow, took five hours to move a one bedroom apartment. They charged for an hour and fifteen minutes for "travel time" before they arrived and after they left though we live maybe ten minutes from their business. read more

I went to these guys after reading raving reviews from workplace. My place was a 600 sq.ft 1 bedroom and i packed all but kitchen by the time they arrived. They took 2 hrs to pack the kitchen and move out the furniture and another hour and move it in, no unpacking. I asked for 2 guys and mike suggested 3. 4hrs for a 600sq.ft building with 75% packed already is way costly and I would recommend against these guys strongly to all my friends. And the packing was inefficient for utensils (why the heck should every single steel plate should be wrapped with a different paper?) and cooking items spilled all over when i was unpacking (no proper wrapping where needed.). And they forgot to move refrigerator items altogether. WILL NEVER USE THESE GUYS AGAIN! read more

There was no damage to anything, they had to remove a storm window to get my bulky furniture in to the new house, they were were efficient, they knew exactly what order items should go in to the truck, they were efficient, contstantly moving from the first to the second floor, and had full supplies to protect the furniture. I have used Budget Moving services twice, both moments were during very difficult time in my life and family's life too. Their services are so professional and thorough with their work. My dad had a heart attack and our family home sold, so Dad needed his items packed, moved and stored until his health is improved. The Budget Moving team brought materials for packing, packed all items Dad wanted, was able to move the boxes (and A LOT boxes) to the truck within 2 hours and drove to the storage location to unloaded ALL items to the unit (did I mention Dad has A LOT boxes!) within an hour. Second moment that I needed Budget Moving was that Dad, while still in hospital, needed two 8ft wardrobes transferred to the garage. The Budget Moving team arrived with tools and was able to move both wardrobes to the garage and helped me move some boxes that had my childhood memories to my car. Move-In: August 1st. These guys came very highly recommended from a friend of mine who told tale of over-the-top lengths they had gone to to make sure things got done right (they even removed someones window so they could get a couch in). My experience, however, was no where near that good. This was my first experience with movers. The guys showed up on time, great. During the initial walk through, the guy in charge expressed great concern over the amount of stuff we had and immediately suggested doubling the number of guys and getting another truck or "this was going to take all day". While this was initially irritating as when I had booked them, Mike (who I believe is the owner), asked me no questions about the size of our place or approximately how much stuff we had, I tried to roll with the punches because it sounded like they were going to be able to solve the issue. After an hour, we learned we would not be getting the extra truck and only Mike was coming to help. Of the four guys who showed, Mike was the least careful with our belongings and immediately upon arrival began making suggestions about Budget not moving our boxes and instead only moving our furniture (under the pretense of saving us money). Um, I don't know how most people move, but his suggestion of having the movers we hired only move the furniture and us having to go to the trouble the following day of renting a truck, hiring additional movers with no notice (as who has friends that can help them move on a Monday), and paying an additional day's rent to my old landlord was irresponsible. I HIRED MOVERS BECAUSE I WANTED MOVERS. The gents kept making comments that they'd had a very busy week and had a busy week schedule ahead of them. Gee, I'm sorry my move was an inconvenience and that your boss is overworking you, but I still would like to get done what I hired you to do. After going back and forth several rounds with Mike, he called in another moving company, America's Moving Machines (See 5-Star Review of America's Moving Machines I posted), to finish the job. While I hope they were just having an off day, I would not recommend them to anyone hoping to have a pleasant, non-stressful moving experience. read more

Moving our son who has a disability from Ravenna to a new housing situation north of Seattle. Mike extremely helpful in setting things up by phone and always reachable whenever we called. Tim & Tito arrived on time, worked steadily and carefully and accommodated our requests for some special handling (eg. shrink wrapping) of certain items. This move involved picking up/delivering furniture to 3 locations: went off without a hitch. Do yourself a favor and hire Mike. I was shocked at how nice and honest he was. He actually tried to help me understand my options, even when he didn't think he could do the work do to scheduling. I begged him to make room for me and so he did - and he under cut the other bids I got. the movers were 10 minutes early both ways and were very nice/sweet guys. would hire them again in a heartbeat. Mike, Jarad and crew were awesome. We hired them to pack, move and unpack us in Wallingford/Green Lake. They were pleasant to deal with, professional, superfast, and worked hard to make the move as efficient as possible (backing the huge truck into a very tricky parking space so they could make a ramp from the back of the truck to the top of the porch, as it would be faster than climbing up and down stairs). He moved our 8,000 square foot business office space last year and then we hired him to move our family residence (approx 3,000 sq feet) just this spring. I needed to move all of the stuff from our storage unit to our new home and I couldn't get on his schedule given my short notice (although he tried - thanks Mike!) so we hired one of the bigger standard moving companies and the comparison was striking. The guys we're definitely not Mike's guys and in fact I was a little nervous about one and I wondered if they had actually done a background check on him (not what you want from someone moving things into your HOME!).
