I guess I need to find out more about this. Such as should you drink it everyday. If I don't like the taste can I mix it with regular tea. Are you supposed to drink the whole bottle at once? Just read Christine's review and she says a shot a day. I can handle that. I bought the grape flavored after trying the ginger one at the farmer's market. I've always bought Buddha's Brew at Whole Foods. Because of them my love of Kombucha grew! I love how they have lots of different flavors. I first had the Grape and it was my go too. It tasted like kool aid but better! The Blackberry and Spearmint was such a surprise to me. I'm not a huge fan of Mint things but this was surprisingly refreshing. My new obsession is the Tangerine and Sea Salt. I love the citrus and the salt flavor. It reminds me of when I eat citrus with salt. Such a Filipino thing to do. Haha. Other flavors I've had are Peach with Mint, Cranberry, and Tart Cherry with Melon. The flavors are bold and recognizable and delicious! read more

Love this stuff! I had the original flavor, which was delicious! It was slightly fizzy, tangy, and delicious! The bottles are awesome, I love the fact that when you polish off the last sip, there's a peace sign sunken into the bottom of the bottle! This stuff is brewed locally, along the banks of a local river. It's so great! They have a wide variety of flavors, like pineapple, blueberry, green tea, all of which are delicious! Would Buddha have drunk kombucha? Quite certainly, not just given its healthful properties, but also because it utilizes various different ingredients to flavor it. Now, I didn't have the opportunity to ask the owner why his Kombucha was so mild. Certainly he doesn't need to slowly educate and ramp-up the power for a super-knowledgeable Austin populace: perhaps he just prefers his kombucha mild. The downside is that perhaps it lacks some of the "mother" that strong kombucha so clearly brings to the table through the slight edge in initial taste. I leave it to more knowledgeable kombucha heads to settle the case. As far as the public is concerned, it looked as though Buddha's Brew was a hit, even with the casual passer-by. The key is in educating that passer-by not to simply dismiss it as "tasting like juice." But, that's not my job. :-) read more

I have always appreciated a healthy dose of the sacred with the profane, so when I recently became acquainted with a new kombucha called Buddha's Brew at the Sunset Valley Farmer's Market, I liked it immediately. You may think kombucha tastes like a combination of ass, vinegar, and old wine but I am here to attest that the Buddha's Brew that I have tried thus far does NOT taste like ass, unless of course, you think ass tastes good and in that case, we should talk. My favorite of their flavors is Blueberry which also happens to be their bestseller. I have never been disappointed with the others that I have tried - Cranberry, Grape, Ginger - all excellent. I have bought Buddha's Brew at Thom's Market, People's Pharmacy, and Fresh Plus but you can check out their website for other locations. Locally brewed in South Austin. Whatever *benefits you are desiring from drinking kombucha, I would highly suggest giving Buddha's Brew a try as I have found it more tasty and less carbonated than the competition... tastes great, less farty. . . . *The benefits are reportedly many and varied and the big deal is apparently as a detoxer. Allergy relief, anti-aging, energy boost, weight loss, cancer fighter, overall health, better digestion and relief from constipation, improves skin and hair and nails, increases metabolism, relieves arthritis, improves well-being, reduces sugar cravings, increases libido (sexy), PMS relief, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, stress buster (very sexy), asthma relief, cell integrity and helps alkalynize the blood ... but none of this "proven" by modern medicine because they have yet to test it on humans. Oh, Cher drinks it and at 62 she seems to be getting younger and younger, not that I do everything that she does, but maybe I would like to... Cher means "expensive" in French, but it is only about $3.50 for 16 ounces. Apparently, 4 ounces before meals is the best for weight loss. read more

I typically purchase one bottle at the Barton Creek Farmer's Market and it takes me about 10 days to finish it. Just a shot a day. I prefer the Ginger flavor which has a funky, gingery, vinegary, winey taste. Also available are Blueberry, Grape, and Cranberry flavors. Kombucha, also known as the "tea of immortality" originated during the Qui Dynasty and Japanese Samurai warriors are purported to have carried flasks of the drink into battle. Co-owner and brewmaster Kimberly Lanski creates her brew from a flat mushroom type fungus called a "SCOBY" and it communes with Austin water, tea and other secret ingredients for at least 21 days. The resulting brew is believed to provide numerous health benefits such as a stronger immune system and increased energy. Buddha once said, "The secret of health for both mind and body is to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.....and to drink my brew." Okay, that last bit I made up but I think it fits. If Buddha had shared some of KK's brew at the farmer's market, lo those many days ago, he would still be alive. read more

Healthy and delicious, this is the first time I sampled Kombucha tea today at the New Braunfels farmers market from these folks. I sampled the ginger what tasted like beer and cranberry. It was tart and extremely fizzy and delicious with no aftertaste. Out of the 50 or so booths here, this booth had a line all day long. Because of the yeast and active cultures, this drink tastes like a non alcoholic beer. You can either buy the glass jars, or bring one you've already bought and the refills are much cheaper. There are 18 of these people who go around to farmers markets and fairs. I highly suggest you find one of these people; a good place to do it is in Austin or at the New Braunfels farmers market every Saturday from 9 to 1. read more

Buddha's Brew makes my favorite kombucha EVER. I love the taste, the variety of flavors, and the little bottles with the peace sign on the bottom. My only complaint is that I drink them too quickly -- they're just that good! I brought a few growlers with me on a road trip to visit my parents in Arkansas, and they now regularly request that I bring them more Buddha's Brew every time that I am in town. Look for them at a farmer's market nearby and you can fill up your recycled bottles for less $! read more

I first discovered Buddha's Brew about 8 or 9 years ago, when they were still retailing them in mason jars with the simple labels (and slight ETOH content). I've been hooked ever since. Over the years, I've watched them grow and introduce a number of great flavors. When I learned that I could get growler refills at local farmer markets...it was game on! My weekly routine always includes a trip to fill a couple growlers. All their flavors are amazing! The best part is the ability to mix when refilling. My go to is a 70-30 mix of ginger and hops. My absolute favorite is the tangerine sea salt...oh man, I'm drooling just thinking about it! Sadly, it is not as widely available and pretty difficult to find... Health benefits aside, I really enjoy the taste. Crisp, refreshing, and wonderfully effervescent. I've tried Kombucha a few times, but the expense, plus not being thrilled at how it tasted kept me from making it a regular beverage choice. That was until I found Buddha's Brew at the Mueller Farmer's Market. Their blends are much more palatable than other brands I've tried, and they have it on tap at the market and offer a discount if you bring your own containers to fill. Since then, I've become a bit of an addict, and head over to the market every Sunday to get refills. My favorite flavors are the Tart Cherry Melon, Blueberry, and Ginger (especially as an early morning drink) You can find Buddha's Brew at most grocery and several smaller markets, as well as on tap at many Farmer's Markets. As I type and as you read, I am sipping a sweating bottle of the new BB flavor: Honeydew. To date, the only other flavor I've consumed is blueberry, but there is a ginger BB patiently waiting in the fridge. Wheatsville sells pints of Buddha's for $3.19. Now, that is quite expensive given that the energy content is relatively low, but I had the fattest hankering for some kombucha that I walked myself on over to Wheatsville, braving the UV rays, swamp ass, and fixed gearers. Buddha's Brew is a good, locally brewed Kombucha. One thing I'd say though is that it has more caffeine than Synergy/GT's and High Country. The cheapest place I've seen it is Wheatsville. If you drink much Kombucha, you should brew your own though. It's pretty easy to do and is much cheaper. read more

I'm not sure what induced me to try my first kombucha drink. Maybe because the drink my husband likes me to buy was sitting in the general vicinity, and it looked interesting. I imagine I was attracted by the relatively low calorie count. Anyways, now that I've had it a number of times, there's just something about kombucha. Even aside from the fact that it's supposed be really good for you, I'm attracted to the slightly sweet / slightly tart taste. Not too sugary...but then not gross either...and then you just feel like you're drinking something good for you. You can even feel it start to affect you after you drink it. The other day, I was in People's Pharmacy and noticed Buddha's Brew...cool because it is a local version of the drink I had been buying. Yesterday, I saw someone at the Farmer's Market selling it at reduced prices if you bought it in bulk. :) Of course, I couldn't help but buy some. I am not entirely convinced of the health benefits of Kombucha tea; I am one of those skeptics who needs lots of evidence. But I have read enough to convince me that drinking Kombucha (or ingesting other fermented stuff that is good for your gut) is probably a good thing. One thing I am sure of is that Kombucha's bubbles are better for you than soda drinks! Not a smooth segue... but ....having recently moved to Austin from California, finding Buddha's Brew was just one of many reasons to confirm I did the right thing. I've been buying many different Kombucha teas (sigh... not yet brewed my own) form California to New York. This stuff is the best. It is super palatable (I have tried 3 of the, I believe, 8 flavors - all good and I trust the other 5 will be as good). And...the price is more reasonable (at least when bought at the Bee Cave Farmer's Market) than my usual purchases from a retailer. I don't know how Buddha's Brew does it, i.e, make their tea taste better than all others, but wow this stuff is actually yummy. If it turns out to be good for my gut too, well, Yelp needs to give some extra stars to rate this product. read more

BUYERS BEWARE! I just had one of these big glass Kombucha bottles explode in my kitchen! It had been there for about 3 weeks and still was about half full. I was i my bedroom when I heard a gunshot like noise which caused me to go running down stairs to find glass chunks all over my living room and kitchen. There were palm sized glass chunks 8 to 10ft away from where the bottle originally was. You are very lucky that no one was in either rooms, could have easily killed someone. I will be posting a video of the aftermath of what your bottle did. You will be hearing from me again. UPDATE: Took the evening off of work to dig all the glass out of my feet and my dogs paws. Found more glass shards stuck in my kitchen walls. Pulled a few glass chips out of my TV (which was about 8ft away). Cleaned for about 8 hours and still not nearly close to being done. Warning: this stuff will rock your world and you will forever fall in love with kombucha! I first tasted the Grape flavor at a Taco Deli in Austin and then found it in my local Whole Foods in Houston. Not only am I hooked, but my husband loves it, too. I actually prefer it to beer or wine, either with a meal or anytime. Learning how beneficial it is just makes it over the top. Have now tried the Tart Cherry Melon flavor, too, which is equally good. I picked up Buddha's Brew Kombucha at my local Sprouts in Dallas. It was honey dew flavored which was intriguing; however, my past kombucha experiences have not been so nice. But I bought it and it was delicious! However, my tummy and kombucha = not so much. I'd buy it again and probably take a shot a day like Christina A. just because I know how good it is for me.
