This place felt a bit ghetto with all the shops nearby gated or having barred windows. The mango cup (cut pieces) were good, corn cup wasn't that good. I got the mix white and yellow version. Thought it was just ok. The sauce seemed fine but not a fan of the corn... still on my quest to find better tasting Mexican style corn. The mango cup was fresh so maybe trying their fresh juice or smoothie would be a better option. read more

So we were looking for a mangonada in the area.. random craving.. and fortunately happened upon this place! It is a small store in a strip mall with a fair amount of parking. They have soooo many options (look at the menu pictures!) But, we went with our initial goal of getting a mangonada, and then of course couldn't help but get elote, too. The mangonada was good, and the first time I had one here it seemed to use a lot of fresh mango for the drink. The second time I went it, while it was still very good, it was maybe a bit too sweet for my taste, and without the same amount of fresh mango. The elote was also very good, and quite a deal for the amount you'll get. They offer the option of having a mix of yellow and white corn, which we opted for and recommend. Give this place a try if you're in the neighborhood! Given the amount of options I'm sure you'll find something refreshing and delicious that you'll want to come back for! read more

I walked in and was punched with a foul smell. I looked around and thought hmm maybe I should leave. The lady had already greeted me and was standing waiting for our order so we stayed. The menu is huge, I went straight for a fruit cup and seen they have corn cups. I got the smallest of each. It was under $7. It was ready very fast. When I got back to work I took the lid off the corn for a yelp pic. The corn had a thick wall of cheese covering it. The aroma punched me in the nose and I attacked! I didn't even get to take the picture of the beauty before the beast got to it. It was delicious. I love that they actually mix the ingredients instead of having it all sitting on top and no goodness half way through the cup. They did the same with the fruit cup, the chili was evenly distributed. Everything here taste great! With that said, the problem here is with the people who run the place (owners), and the ones that take the orders. It's mind blowing how people own a business but hate working... Not only are they rude, they take down orders wrong-don't get me started on over the phone orders. The older male worker(I think he's the owner) gets snappy when you try to correct him when they get the order wrong. My recent order was bad. My family and I ordered four large agua de piña, well what we got were four large agua de azúcar. There was no pineapples nothing, just water and sugar! When I approached the young lady about it she thought it was hilarious, not even an apology was said. Pretty much I'm disappointed at this place, I had higher expectations specially after reading everyone reviews. First I grow up in Mexico and work in two different Mexican snack bars so I know how real Mexican snacks taste like . I try the corn in the cup and it was horrible the corn was super hard to chew on, the added that smelly feet powder cheese and valentina hot sauce instead of the chile powder "chile preparado". No bone china, no fine crystal, no ambiance or decorations. Nope. This is just a small, little, narrow insurance shop in a little shopping center, east of 35. Did she just say 'insurance shop?' Yes, I said "insurance shop." Just go past the insurance cubicle to the fruit counter in the back. Apparently this place has a female identity because it can multitask. So why put yourself through this effort? It's all about the fruit, man! They fill up a large (read "monster" sized) cup of fresh fruit and sprinkle the fruit with spicy pepper and lime juice and off you go with your cup of cool in the Austin heat. Fruit cups were a new discovery to me a few years ago. When we first moved into our new home, our lovely neighbors welcomed us with a fruit cup from F & F. Yum, it was such a wonderful treat on a hot summer day. It's basically a big cup of fruit sprinkled with chili powder, which seemed an odd combination to me at first, but tastes oh so good. This place always has a line because it's so popular (and awesome), but is soooo worth it. I haven't been to any other fruit cup establishments, but from what I understand from my neighbors, this place is the best one around. I'm not sure what the "F & F" stands for, but my husband and I like to think that it stands for F***ING FRUIT!!" :) I usually get the large cup with 5 fruits: pineapple, coconut, cantalope, strawberries, and kiwi. read more

My favorite place to get elotes! The area that is in is pretty sketchy, but the fruits and elotes are superb! I love, love, LOVE elotes. I come here so often, the older guy at the counter remembers the way I like it..that or maybe because I'm literally the only asian girl that ever goes there! I usually get the large elotes in a cup, mix (white and yellow corn, white corn is more traditional), and ask for a little bit of chili powder and cheese (depending on who makes it, its usually too much powder or too much cheese). You definitely won't regret trying it, it's way better than the ones at fiesta! The fruits are also fresh, therefore it'll take a while for them to complete your order. I love coconut and surprisingly, they have fresh, still in shells, waiting to be cracked coconuts here! All for a very low price. When I repeated to the lady who came back up (the one who originally took my order), she printed out a receipt, and the other one looked at me perplexed, saying, "It's 3.79," seeming to wonder why in the world I wanted a receipt. *The receipt did not clearly communicate all aspects of my purchase. Look at the picture below to see what I mean. *I asked for no cucumber or watermelon, the lady taking my order repeated it back to me, and about 1/3 of the cup was filled with cucumber. The mess-up wasted my money. This is one of the few times when I didn't go back to correct them though, because the customer service was so uncomfortable to begin with. *For the fruit cocktail, i.e. fruit cup, mangoes, strawberries, and kiwi cost extra.
