I get excited when I see just one flan on the menu somewhere, so a farmers market stand with four different flavors is just awesome. They all had a nice firm custard texture with a sweet liquid underneath. Their tastes varied, but most were pretty darn good because the base is so good.
El Tradicional Flan: A classic, done well. Definitely my favorite. Creamy and jiggly. A strong vanilla taste. Manages to avoid tasting "eggy" (a telltale sign of lesser flans). Really love the nice reservoir of sweet brown liquid on the bottom to make your spoonfuls even sweeter!
Pecan Almond Flan: Probably my favorite here. All because of the extremely strong almond taste. Almost like you're eating marzipan, but in flan form. Wasn't a fan of the gritty nut bits on top though, but the layer was so thin that I could easily get past it.
Coffee Flan: The most intense flavor I tried. It really does taste like coffee. Strong coffee in every bite. A bit overwhelming for a light bite, but is good first thing in the morning.
Coconut Flan: Didn't care for this one much. It's flavor was very mild. Plus the dried grated coconut on top added a weird texture to the flan base. read more
