    Thai tea boba
    Derek M.

Cute spot in the arbor walks shopping center, offering ice cream, boba and various desserts. It's decorated to cater towards children very well, and they also allow pets. Service was friendly, and overall it's a solid spot to bring your kids while having a day out. I'd say that outside of the niche of being good for kids, it may not be contender as a general go-to boba spot. The pricing is on the higher end at around $10 for a standard boba, and the details of the drink didn't really match other places that charge that price point. I'd recommend using a different oat milk as a dairy-free option as well. Kirkland brand is very watery and not generally used as a creamer, and is diluted further when used in tea, making paying an upcharge for it feel not really worth it.

Bella Vita is THE MOST ADORABLE LITTLE SWEETS PLACE in North Austin. Located in a little shopping strip just under the Domain, there is ample parking and the center is easily accessible as it's just off Mopac. The boba drink selection is good + there is also a plethora of ice creams, cookies, and coffee. What makes this place magical is the owner - she's the sweetest lady in the world. I was perched up here to work on a Friday afternoon and saw several regulars come in to chat and converse. This place screams neighborhood and community and after several hours of playing mahjong inside, the owner gave us extra cookies with the utmost motherly vibes. The amount of seating inside is relatively limited since it's a longer / skinny space, but definitely worth swinging by for some sweets and local chats with the friendly owner!

Staff here is super friendly, but I didn't like my ice cream very much. It's too icy (I tasted more of the ice particles than the actual creaminess), and the colors scream artificial coloring and flavors. I ordered the mango and strawberry, and both tasted incredibly artificial. I didn't finish more than 3 bites before the sweetness got incredibly overpowering. I do want to give them another try because they offer sorbet and boba, and they have a lot of interesting flavors!

I love supporting independent small businesses and I just had to jot down this quick review for Bella Vita Ice Cream at Arbor Walk in North Austin (just opened in October 2024). They offer a surprising array of unique flavors in ice cream, gelato, and sorbet, plus boba teas, smoothies, and flavored coffee drinks in an adorable shop that's situated conveniently on my family's regular shopping/dining out rotation. We walked in after a "teen's choice" Sunday lunch burger feast at Mighty Fine next door to find Bella Vita empty of customers. There was a cute little toy ice cream truck at the door playing that irresistible ice cream truck music. We were full from our meal but we couldn't say no to giving Bella Vita a try. Everything about the shop is simply inviting. Happy little plushies adorn the shelves, vibrant murals are on the walls, board games are on the tables, and the friendly staff are so welcoming, offering samples to taste and explaining any unfamiliar flavors. After tasting a few new-to-me flavors (mamey, something else starting with an "h"), I went with a cup of rose petal and pistachio ice creams. They were both delicious. My date went with traditional milk tea with boba, specifying his preferred 25% sugar, and the tea came out perfectly, not too sweet, and with plenty of chewy bubbles. I'm looking forward to making my way through their menu of 150+ rotating flavors of frozen desserts, as well as trying their waffle cones and bowls. Welcome to the neighborhood, Bella Vita!

Came in while in the area as I wanted some boba tea. Colorful shop with lots of options. Reminded me and a shop you would see in Japan with the decor they had. Very kid friendly. Boba tea was okay- I did 1/2 sweet like usual but it was quite flavorless (Thai tea) the boba texture wasn't amazing either, but the lemon bar was spectacular! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their product and teas. Would come back if in the area.

    Unique game-looks hand made too!

This is beyond the cutest shop for ice cream, Diana makes it like a warm sanctuary where you can feel at home, even if you have "flaws" like that you want to get a "healthy" bar, but there are bars that taste more delicious like the salted dark chocolate Kind Bar, lol....there are so many cool things around the shop like games, plush things, and random tennis shoes that are really hipster looking like they look like they are from someplace in Europe inspired by the 90's, and of course boozy ice cream too, ssh to the nay sayers. It's. All. Home. Made. All of the ice cream is home made!! This is the most balanced, friendly, awesome place in the universe! Glad we all found it, now let's support this awesome woman Diana that created it, and enjoy some treats! You're worth it!

I love everything about this place. The friendly folks who own and run the place, the obvious love and care that goes into their ice cream creations, and the ice cream of course. They make everything in house, they have some wonderfully unique flavors, and they are happy to give you samples. It's super cute and happy feeling inside too. Can't wait to go back.

One of the best and most festive ice cream shop I have been to. Their coffee is great. Ice cream is homemade. Menu includes milk tea and hot tea. If you have kids they will love the games and plushies! Highly recommend. Great quality and great service all around!

Between the three of us, there was a little bit of everything--from classic comfort flavors to things I never thought would work in ice cream but somehow absolutely did. (Don't mind the F, E, D--that's just to remind me who ordered what). Roasted Beets & Fresh Mint (F, E) - the absolute winner of the night and my #1 flavor. I never thought I'd describe an ice cream as refreshing in the way a sorbet is, but somehow this pulled it off while staying rich and creamy. Delicious, subtly minty, unbelievably smooth, and surprisingly refreshing. The beet flavor was mild enough that it didn't taste earthy or overpowering--just mellow and creamy, while the mint made all the difference in brightening everything up. I genuinely never had such a refreshing ice cream that wasn't sorbet. Such a unique flavor that somehow works perfectly, and absolutely something I'd get again. GOAT Cheese, Thyme, and Honey (E, D) - my #2 and a complete 100% hit. Tangy, creamy, slightly savory, sweet, and incredibly unique while still tasting approachable. It somehow tastes exactly like the name promises without feeling too "out there." If you're nervous about goat cheese, trust me and try it. Easily an instant reorder. Dark Chocolate, Olive Oil & Sea Salt (E, D) - rounding out my top three. Such a good balance against the sweetness of the rest of the ice cream options. Rich, deep chocolate flavor without becoming overwhelming, while the olive oil and sea salt round everything out and keep it from tasting too sugary. A flavor I appreciated more and more between bites of sweeter scoops. Hill Country Honey & Vanilla Bean (E) - one of the smoothest vanilla bean ice creams I've had. It reminded me of a traditional ice milk soft serve in the best way possible: creamy, nostalgic, and incredibly easy to eat. A deceptively simple flavor done really well. Very Strawberry (F) - a clean strawberry flavor that leaned a little artificial, but honestly? Still really good. Bright, fruity, and easy to enjoy. Cookies & Cream (F) - this one hit HARD when you got a full spoonful. I never liked cookies & cream before this, but this one genuinely changed my mind. Probably the only cookies & cream I would willingly eat. Chocolate Chocolate (F) - love chocolate? Get this. That's all you need to know. Coffee & Cream (D) - oooh. This immediately reminded me of a keto coffee ice cream I had once and really enjoyed. Rich coffee flavor without tasting too bitter or overpowering--would absolutely get this again. Sweet Cream w. Strawberry (D) - unfortunately, a miss for me compared to the others. Too creamy for me and not enough strawberry flavor to justify choosing it over the Very Strawberry. Overall, the adventurous flavors completely stole the show here. My tier list by far: 1) Roasted Beets & Fresh Mint, 2) GOAT Cheese, Thyme, and Honey, and 3) Dark Chocolate, Olive Oil & Sea Salt. Unique flavors that actually feel intentional rather than gimmicky, and all three are instant repeat orders for me. Atmosphere-wise, the place was pleasant, parking was surprisingly easy, and while it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded, the place is definitely more popular than it first appears. I never thought I'd be a fan of Americanized ice cream--usually it's way too sweet for me--but Lick completely proved me wrong. Somehow, the flavors felt balanced, intentional, and actually let the ingredients shine without drowning me in sugar. Touché, Lick. Dangerous spot for indecisive people because suddenly you're convincing yourself that yes, maybe you do need another scoop.

While we were there, it was always a packed line so it definitely gets really busy from 8-9PM! We got three larges for a total of twelve flavors, a little bit of overlap: Mine: Dark Chocolate Olive Oil and Sea Salt - Really liked this, the bitter saltiness offset the creaminess really well. Coffee with Cream - A very light but roasty coffee, like a light coffee. I liked this!; Goat Cheese, Thyme and Honey - The herbal flavor is more subtle than I expected! Not too sweet, liked this one Sweet Cream & Strawberry - this one didn't stand out much to me Others: Roasted Beets and Fresh Mint - I really liked this one! The beets and mint hit on the back of your tongue, yum Chocolate Chocolate - Very intense chocolate, not too crazy about it though Cookies & Cream - Surprisingly good! I liked this one Very Strawberry - way more strawberry than the sweet cream. I'd recommend this over the sweet cream and strawberry Hill Country Honey & Vanilla Bean - Pretty light, a classic. Thought it was okay. If I had a tier list it would be: 1) Coffee with Cream 2) Goat Cheese 3) Dark Chocolate Olive Oil 4) Roasted Beets and Mint 5) Cookies & Cream 6) Very Strawberry 7) Vanilla Bean 8) Chocolate Chocolate 9) Sweet Cream & Strawberry Overall, a few hits, a few misses, but it was a fun tasting experience. We paid via inKind with no issues, which made it a pretty solid value.

A milestone. A monument. A celebration of a man whose legend looms over Austin like a slightly tipsy bat. Nate Gardog & Co bravely ordered what was advertised as an Oreo cake meant to serve 4-5 humans. What arrived, however, was not a cake. It was not even a mini-cake. It was... a cupcake wearing platform shoes. A baked good masquerading as something it clearly was not. The bag was on us, literally and spiritually. Shane--who, need I remind you, is an Austin icon, a man whose culinary preferences are practically carved into the walls of Barton Springs--was forced to confront this fraudulent pastry. And let me tell you: no man deserves this. Not at 38. Not ever. If the staff at Amy's were the true clairvoyants we believed them to be, they would have inherently known Shane's one, true, universal flavor: Funfetti. Classic. Chaotic. Confetti for the soul. Yet here we stood. Funfetti-less. Candle-less. Hope-less. As the final insult, there were no candles. Not even a sad, melted tea light from the back. Nothing to blow out except disappointment. In conclusion: the vibes were off, the cake was tiny, and Shane--our dear, beloved Shane--deserved better.
