Sando combo medium heat. Great quality chicken but definitely would say it's more hot than medium
Kaitlin B.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. I was nervous bc the most recent reviews haven't been very good ones. My only complaints are that (in my opinion), the spice levels are a little misleading. I ordered medium spice and it was so spicy I only ate 1/2 of my sandwich with the fear of a stomach ache. It could have used a little more coleslaw & we asked for extra pickles but only got 2 on our sandwiches. Otherwise, this place is very good! The fries are a mix between cataldos wedges and wingstops fries. I definitely recommend trying it! We will be back!

Went today for the first time. Placed my order online and was told it's be ready in 20 mins! Great since I was on my lunch break! Well that was not the case. Order was to be ready at 12:18, it was not. I got my food at 1245! I was almost 30 mins late from my lunch break! It's not completely the fault of the guy in the truck as he was the only one there. Definitely need more people in there! The medium spicy was beyond hot! Nose was running after the first bite so I couldn't finish it! The fries were decent not a fan of the sweetness of them. Tried the Bucky sauce but it was so acidic and tart that you could only have a few bites of it too! Best thing was the lemonade! Even after being watered down by the melting ice it was great! Won't be going back again anytime soon. Was highly disappointed!

I have been wanting to try this place for quite a while now and I finally got a chance to beat the line by being the first to order. A sando combo is what caught my appetite. Overall I see now why there is always a line at Bucky's Hot Chicken. This place is legit! You get a whole freshly fried juicy chicken breast and it is season breaded to perfection. Covered in coleslaw, pickles, special spicy sauce, fresh soft toasted buns and complimented with delicious sweet seasoned fries it is a meal that will make you say, "Wow! That is a pretty good chicken sandwich." By far in my opinion the best chicken sandwich you will find in Bakersfield. All these franchises have nothing on Bucky's! Also be aware, the spicy level is no joke! I went with medium and I was sweating!

A 15 minute wait -WELL WORTH IT!!!! However it was at noon so maybe there's isn't always a long wait. I order the sandwich combo mild. The fries are THE BEST in town and so is the sauce it comes with. So glad I tried them out.

I'm starving!!!! It smells insanely good out here Lol

Bucky's you naughty little hot chicken!!!!! Hehehe had to put the Tina twist on it ;)....I was resistant a while ago as i'm an angry chicks fan but i kept seeing food porn worthy pics and posts and i could not resist anymore dammit! Also i can't lie I'm a bit of a smartass with this i wanted to hate it i wanted something to bitch about LOL...So i set myself up for this one and it's ok to laugh at me that's what i'm here for don't you know that by now??? I got myself all purrrty threw on my leather jacket and bitch boots grabbed my son that's been salivating over their pics too and we hit the road. Now the leather jacket and bitch boots were all part of the act the act of me being serious about this comparison i was about to make with the other hot chicken place in town!! We placed an order for 2 "Sando" combos and 2 blue raspberry lemonades it is a food truck as you see in my pic so you order and wait for your number to be called and while you wait you will become even hungrier because the smell is insanely delicious so you grow even more anxious lol. I actually enjoyed standing out there people watching and car watching and idiot watching hahaha...Anyway i did it true food truck style set it up on the back of my car in a random parking lot near Bucky's hell no i wasn't driving all the way home i was going to eat this the second i got it no limp fries for me!! ....So i will touch on that drink i'm not a sugary drink girl even my cocktails i like tart with a lil sweet my son he loves sweet drinks... We both hated the drink it was wayyyyy too sweet and just gave that weird throat affect from too much sugar so we both tossed those. I'm not deducting anything for that because i don't usually order crap like that it was literally just a last minute decision we shouldn't have made and this is about the food for me. So as i opened that container my mouth dropped and the juices started flowing ;). That was a big ass sandwich!! Like a damn Pterodactyl chicken Lol This pleased me like you wouldn't believe definitely massive compared to the other place. Each sando has their special sauce, slaw and pickles on a buttery brioche bun. The fries are battered in something like a tempura and sprinkled with this addicting seasoning with this dipping sauce i call crack because i can imagine people trying this sauce and loving it so much they turn into a Bucky's special sauce crackhead!!! So as you can imagine we're in the parking lot that was busy, people staring at us, me grabbing this giant sandwich trying not to drip on my precious purple beast hahaha that was a challenge to say the least!! I opened my mouth as wide as i possibly could and just went for it. OMFG i bit into that baby and it was the Juiciest, seasoned to perfection perfectly balanced hot chicken sandwich i've ever had the pleasure to put into my mouth!!! That slaw is amazing as well. My son spoke no words as he moaned and inhaled his with pure joy written all over his face :) Those fries are a very naughty treat dipped in that sauce. They were crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside not greasy not over battered and addicting as hell. I've no clue what's in that sauce but i could drink it if i'm honest hehe. This was epically delicious and completely worth the parking lot eating adventure and stares we got!! I will return i must try those wings i LOVE wings! But this time i shall do it freaky and go to the gas station in the same lot grab a big ass 40 of beer get those fries and wings and back to the parking lot for another exceptional meal ;)

This place makes the best chicken in Bakersfield. Best fries I've ever had as well. It's spicier than you'd expect so whatever you normally get I'd get one step back. I usually get hot but with them I get medium. The bar you can walk into from the truck is also great and you can take your food inside to eat.

Hot diggity Damn!!!! Let me set the scene... it's 5:06 and 102 in Bakes today soo when you see a line standing outside of Bucky's they must be putting it down.... Ordered two of the Sando combos with two lemonades came out to $36... wait was reasonable for the amount of ppl like 30min or so..... so let's get to the good stuff... Ordered both sandwiches in the medium flavor and if you like heat and can handle the sniffles this is just perfect.. anymore heat and I think it would kill the meal... big sandwich and it could be shared but who does that anyways? Comes with a nice slaw not the creamy kind which I appreciated and the pickles give it a kick. Overall good sandwich made me happy and sweat ... idk if it was really a brioche bun ... did not have the buttery taste a broche bread has... the Fries were okay... a bit too much seasoning... possibly the saltiest fries I've had.... and by the time you get your meal not as crispy... Both my daughter and I didn't finish them and it would of been way too much salt for us.. Overall great sandwich would come back....

Finally got to try Bucky's! Stood in line. Placed order with the guy sitting outside the truck. Walked over to get lottery tickets while I waited. Huge line had formed. Was so glad I had arrived when I did! My order was ready. Took it home to chow down. I ordered the sando...chicken sandwich with fries. I ordered mild. I was admittedly afraid of the heat. The sandwich was huge! Very fresh and hot. It had a nice flavor and I was happy I got mild. It still had good flavor and a touch of heat. The sweet fries were a bit of a surprise, but definitely a nice balance with the heat of the chicken. I will definitely go back and am kicking myself for waiting so long to try Bucky's.

Holy moly all I can say is my mouth was on fire but I couldn't stop eating !! I ordered the medium flavored Sando combo and ordered my husband the hot flavored , of course he didn't break a sweat so next time I'll get him the extra hot !! Everything had so much flavor , the chicken was perfectly cooked and the slaw and pickles were so good .This place is a gold mine and I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to try it !

Karina M.

The food at Bucky's was Superb. We had the chicken sandwiche and it was delicious. It was surprisingly big as well I couldn't finish it. The chicken was flavorful and the sauce was great. I really like how they make their own style of cole slaw this one isn't very sweet. I personally prefer my creamy sweet coleslaw but I still enjoyed this one. We were disappointed because when we arrived they were already out of many items from the menu but it could be because we did arrive about 30 minutes before it closed. Aside to that food was delicious can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

How could I not come here before?? It's a hidden gem! First off, I'm the type of person who can't handle spice so I was pretty nervous and wasn't sure what to expect. Ordered the sliders combo and tenders combo in mild! Boy, my nose was runny but it was soooooo delicious! The fries are deeply fried and seasoned in sweet cinnamon? I could be wrong but it tastes like a sweet potato fry except it's not a sweet potato! The sauce it comes with is good, not the best to rave about, but it was still good! Highly recommend! :) It's located in a gas station area so you won't miss it!

This was some really damn good chicken. I highly recommend stopping by. Got a few plates. Be forewarned, the hot has ghost peppers, medium has habanero, mild has cayenne pepper. I have a pretty good threshold for hotness and the medium was pretty spicy. That hot, was some spicy stuff. I'm sure we'll feel it later. Ha! I do think they should open a little earlier, but either way, good spot.

Delicious chicken sandwiches can't go wrong with any option. Try to start off with a lower spice level when picking your sandwich.

Founded by co-owners John Aliwalas and Jeneryn San Antonio, it was local food truck favorite and now it has it own home. The owners left healthcare careers during the pandemic to share their family recipes and bring traditional Filipino comfort food to the local community. The dining room has a homey atmosphere with great cultural wall murals and rattan accents. All of their food is great. Our favorite is their chicken and they make a great rice. Later, when I checked the receipt, I discovered that I had been charged for an item that I did not order. The charge was significantly higher than what I expected to pay based on my actual purchase. What bothered me most was not the dollar amount itself, but the fact that the receipt did not match what I requested. Customers should never have to worry about being charged for items they didn't order, and I would strongly encourage anyone visiting to carefully review their receipt before leaving. I moved out of Bakersfield but every time I visited, I had to make sure I go to this place. This time I brought my friends who also live in bigger cities, but everyone ended up falling in love with this place and couldn't stop talking about it. I'm so happy that they moved from the food truck location to a nicer place and more central to the nicer part of Bakersfield (near riverwalk) . My friends who I took to this place, still rave about the food they had here. It's so authentic, delicious, and just special. You ordered at the counter, and during lunch time there are options to get the lunch combo which are two types of dishes with rice or naan. I usually chose the usual, either tikka masala, butter chicken, or curry. But this time I wanted to try something I never got from the menu, which is the Shahi Matar chicken. Oh.My.God, it was the bomb! It's sooo good. The other thing that I always got was the veggie pakora. It goes sooo well with the curry dishes. Amazing. Services were pretty fast, around 10mins of wait during busy lunch time. If you didn't finish the food (which they give you really good portion), they have the lids for everything and ready to take home. Everytime I go back to Bakersfield, I always ensure to come here and bring my visitor friends here too. I already miss all the food here.

I'm glad another business has moved into this location. The Asian fusion restaurant that was here previously was also very good, so it's nice to see another great dining option in the space, I can visit right after my doctor's appointment. On this visit, I ordered the 16-ounce goat curry.. I wanted to make sure I liked their goat curry before committing to the 32 oz beast.. Personally, I recommend ordering it with no added spice if you really want to appreciate the individual ingredients, the flavor of the goat, and the delicious curry sauce served over the rice, but I don't like spice so that's just my opinion. The goat Curry was great my only beef... pun intended was that they were just as many bones as there was meat. Also there were tiny bones almost too tiny which I did not expect. 3.5 out of 5 stars This time, I also tried the garlic naan, and it was very good! It had generous chunks of garlic throughout, with the perfect texture and softness. It was excellent for soaking up the sauce 5 stars The people I dined with ordered the butter chicken and chicken curry both 5 stars The rice here was good it seemed as if it was freshly cooked I wish it was a little hotter to the touch but overall really good 4 out of 5 stars Everyone I at the restaurant was friendly and courteous, and funny. The people here are real and we were able to talk about food in other countries, they were also happy to explain the menu items when asked, which I always appreciate, especially when exploring a cuisine with so many wonderful dishes, I have never tried before. The operating hours for Punjabi Dhaba in Bakersfield seem to be every day 1000 am to 8:30 pm. This means they're open on both Saturdays and Sundays, which is a plus. I visited on a Sunday, and although the restaurant wasn't empty, it had just enough customers to create a short wait for the food. My order was served in a timely manner, and just a pleasant experience. Apparently, this restaurant started as a food truck, but I never had the opportunity to try it back then. I'm glad I finally got the chance to visit them at their brick-and-mortar location! If this visit is any indication, I have a feeling there's a lot more delicious food waiting for me to discover.I'll definitely be back to try the butter chicken and some of the street food items on the menu 4 out of 5 stars
