My go-to place for a heavy but pocket friendly lunch! Bubble Waffle is located in City Square mall. I usually get their chicken nugget and Taiwanese rice combo but this time I decided only to get their chicken nugget. They added a spice mix on top for me which made it even more tastier! I also tried their shrimp dumplings which were so delicious, they were made fresh and came with chilli oil on the side. It was perfect for a rainy day! Lastly, I got my fav drink from there... their lemon iced tea! it's so refreshing even when it's cold outside! I'll probably be visiting them again very soon! read more

With many locations around Vancouver and Richmond, the online ordering system is pretty streamlined. Basically, you pick a noodle soup, a broth base, noodle type, 2 toppings, and a drink--this generally comes to $11.95 plus tax (often 10% off online). I was hunting around for vegan laksas and noticed they offer a veggie noodle soup option and a laksa broth option. So I phoned to make sure the broth is vegetarian/vegan -- it comes default with chicken broth, but they have a veggie broth option, so that worked out great. For toppings, I got cabbage and bean curd skin, and selected the spicy option. The portion is extremely large, especially for the price--I was stuffed and I'm a big eater. The broth quality was really good, quite complex, and amply spicy (though not too much). For laksa, not too oily/greasy. It may not be the finest laksa in town, but I was really impressed. First off the bubble waffle was pretty tasty in flavor, but kinda soggy and not crunchy. I really liked the fish ball because of the sauce flavor and how well it was cooked. As for the main dish the fish soup noodles, it was good and well cooked, but the noodles didn't fit the soup style in my opinion and the portions for mushroom were very small. The presentation also wasn't that good, but my expectations weren't high since it wasn't like a fancy restaurant type of deal. The Homemade Squid on their screen was fried but the actual item was sauteed; they misled customers with the wrong picture. Also, the squid was cold in the sauce; it was gross. We checked off the combo price for the Salty Chicken Nugget but they charged us the regular price (we found out after we paid) and asked us if we wanted any drinks from a special menu. So we thought those drinks were part of the combo but they actually charged us half price without informing us. They should have told us that those drinks were half price for the combo snacks (side order) when they asked us if we wanted the special drinks, and they should inform us that in order to get the combo price of the side order, we needed to order the other food on the menu. This Bubble Waffle Cafe is totally unethical - they lied to customers in order to get our money. P.S. The size of the side orders was not worth the price; it was a rip-off. read more

Came here with my mother recently due to a medical appointment I needed to go to near the mall this place is located in. Honestly I had found a gem. This place isn't really the best place ever, like a place you'd go out of your way to go to, but their food definitely is pretty tasty for food court standard (which is normally a major hit or miss in my experience). The prices isn't special when compared to other places but it definitely damn their chicken rice combo is really something special. Their rice I believe is cooked with chicken broth (most food court places doesn't do that with their rice), so it tasted really tasty just on its own. Also the chicken it came with is also pretty decent, tho the green onion oil sauce that normally goes hand to hand with this chicken does enhance the flavour of the meat a little bit to be honest. Seriously, if you happen to be in city square mall, this is definitely a place you need to check out at least once in a while. read more

Bubble Waffle Cafe is one of the latest editions to the Harbour Centre foodcourt probably making a lot of the other restaurants jealous of their good business. I've come to this food court often for lunch and I can say that their meals are definitely one of the better ones you can get here - if they get your order right! My favourite dish here is the Laksa chicken noodle soup because of the amazing broth and the actual Hainan chicken itself. My only warning however is that this place does get pretty busy during the lunch hour so be sure to order online (and get $1 off) or go early so you're not waiting too long. Also, be sure to check your order BEFORE you leave. So many times they have forgotten the soup, utensils or a drink and it's too late to go back once you're gone. Oh, and there's also a stamp card where you can get a free bubble waffle after 5 purchases. If you do decide to go online to complete your order, you have to pay in-store. Nobody told me this but DO NOT line up if you have an online order, go straight to the self checkout kiosk and pay first. Then your order will be put into queue. They will not take your online order if you try to line up in person (but they don't tell anyone that either) and they made go to the new-at-the-time self checkout. Overall, good food but maybe not so quick service on rush hour times. Be sure to check your order is correct! read more

This restaurant is located in the food court at City Square Mall at 12th and Cambie. I've been eating keto-esk for a while and I generally ask for veggies instead of noodles when I get "noodle soup". Some places look at me like I'm nuts, while others (like this place!) offer it as part of their noodle options! yay!!! I got the lamb laksa combo (comes with sliced lamb, chicken and fish balls and the soup is rich and flavourful with a slight kick, I got a ton of Savoy cabbage and even some tofu as my noodles), a side of spicy chicken nuggets and their HK lemon tea (no sugar). It was all delicious and well priced. Next time I will get the hainese chicken soup cuz it looked really yummy. If you're eating in, go up the escalators to the second level, it's a lot quieter (less reverb and bounce) and outside the windows is a forest of trees to gaze at. Parking is underground ($4/hr!) but they validate the ticket which is good for 90min. read more

You really can't go wrong with this place tucked inside a mall food court. For $10 + tax you can have a combo meal with your choice of entree and a drink. The food includes duck breast (smoked tasting? Kind of like a duck ham), noodle soups (my favourite is the hainanese chicken laksa), spicy noodles, and other Taiwanese snack foods. The bubble waffles are also very good, not too sweet and bit of crisp on the outside when fresh. Since they've opened I've noticed an increased number of people in the food court during lunch hour and it's totally understandable why! read more

I first tried Bubble Waffle Cafe at the 530 Hornby Street food court but due to the fact that they were closing for the holidays, I hiked it to HarbourCentre to do a pickup at this location. I pre-ordered online and got a Fish Ball Noodle with Preserved Egg & Cilantro soup + a less sweet ice lemon tea. And the verdict is ...Yah! This location not only gives you a larger portion for the drink (thank you for thsi!) but the soup noodle for the fish ball version (seafood) gives you quail eggs. Who knew?! Anyways, the taste was on point, and the drink was a great little cherry on top to my visit. Harbour Centre has ample seating in their food court despite having SFU students and a tower upstairs. I also really appreciated how they had a separate touch screen pay station on the side for online orders. You just walk up to it, enter your order number (** remember your order number for this!) and you'll be prompted to pay by the machine on the side. It's super easy and super fast. I ordered at around 12:10ish and it originally had the time as ready for 12:30. By the time I got there at around 12:20 and paid with the machine, it was ready for pickup within a minute! read more

A regular lunch spot for me and my coworkers. If you order through their app, you get a discount, and with their new self-pay kiosk for pick up, it's really quick. The portions are fairly large, it's a struggle to finish (although granted, I have a small stomach!). Laksa soup is the way to go. Bubble waffles are nice and chewy, and if you have a craving for HK-style drinks, this place will be the right fit. I give this place a solid 3.5 stars. I've been going here since the week or month it opened and I've been getting a bunch of mixed services and food. I have to give this place credits at the beginning where they were able to streamline everything and yet still be able to customize your noodle in soup with drinks. I mean lets face it, that's what we are here for. I remember the first time I was here, there was a long line up but the line actually moved quickly. During the lunch rush hour, I was able to get my food in less than 15 mins is a bonus at a food court that busy. Not only can you order at the food court stand, you were able to order off their app. They offer 10% off making a noodle in soup with a drink cost like less than 10 bucks. Bonus as it's hard to find that in downtown other than if you go to timmys or mcdoanld. My first experience wasn't the best. I ordered through the app, showed up at the time that it stated and waited an extra 20 minutes. Like what? I saved like a dollar but waited for an extra 20 minutes. Ya not worth my time. I should have just ordered it at the till. I noticed it was made but the staff didn't bother to call the online order numbers. I learnt that I just need to walk up to them and ask for the order after I pay. My second time ordering from the app wasn't much better. They gave me the wrong noodles and is was my least favourite from the choices that were presented to us aka egg noodles. Of course, the third time is the charm. Since then I didn't have any problem and now they set up a very simple machine on the side for you to just pay for your order. Yes, you can not pay from the app. Now food wise I have nothing to complain about. It was your regular noodle in soup that you will get at any Cantonese style cafe. Portions are good and you get what you pay for. Drinks are in the 20oz size which is your regular size bubble tea. You can add $1 to your meal for bubble waffle which is always yummy. Gotta say I love their stamp card system too. I think it was purchase 5 meals and you get 1 bag of bubble waffles for free. Overall, a pretty good place to eat if you are in downtown and in need of fast food. I call this type of food comfort food. Good for rainy days.
