We were thirsty so stopped by! Can order at kiosk or counter; be aware an extra fee for credit card transactions under $10. Space is ample to enjoy inside; on a Saturday afternoon there were several students hanging out working on their laptops. You can order sandwiches and other hot snacks but the stars are the drinks! We took a chance and got a cheese foam strawberry slush and fruit tea. Great tasting and freshly made.
Was craving some Hong Kong style egg waffles, so my lovely husband took me to Bubble Puff & Tea. We ordered an original bubble puff and a matcha bubble puff filled with mochi to share. It took about 20 minutes for them to be ready. Both were delicious, but I did like the matcha flavored one more. The egg waffle crust was perfectly crispy and delicate. For the original one, the inside was light and chewy with a nice sponge-like texture. For the matcha one, adding mochi as a filling was an amazing decision because it created a wonderful chewy interior that was so mouthwatering to eat. I highly recommend eating these bubble puffs as soon as you get them, while they are still hot and fresh. As I looked at the menu, there were a lot of beverages that caught my eye. They have a wide selection of milk teas, fruit teas, smoothies, fresh teas, house specialty drinks, and coffee in addition to a sizable selection of toppings like boba and jelly. Many looked like great options, so it took me a while to decide which ones to order. Ultimately, I had the Taiwan Alpine Milk Tea and my husband had the Osmanthus Green Milk Tea. These both tasted refreshing, not overly sweet, and were great to drink alongside the egg waffles and helped wash everything down. I even loved the quality of their lids and cups. The lids have a special space for you to hold the straw, which is not something I've seen anywhere else. From the outside, I expected this store to be quite small. To my surprise, it has a decent amount of tables and seating - great for hanging out with friends or even just visiting on your own. There is a small parking lot in the back as well as some street parking. Definitely a solid spot for grabbing drinks or snacks if you are in the surrounding area of Pasadena.
Shared this wonderful tea spot with my lovely wife because I was craving egg waffles and this is one of the best spots to try them. Upon entering, the store was moderately busy, staff said that their kiosk wasn't working due to power outage, no Wi-Fi, thus their entire system wasn't working. For this specific visit only, it was cash only which was understandable because it was a super hot day. Regardless, this time visiting was even better than all the other times I've visited despite the small obstacles. My wife and I ordered the Osmanthus Green Milk Tea & the Taiwan Alpine Milk Tea along with two sets of egg waffles, one original & one matcha filled. Total wait time was about 20 minutes as the egg waffles were made fresh and came out later than the two drinks which came out in about 5 minutes. One thing I never really noticed until this time around is that the staff would occasionally bring you the order regardless if you're dining in or taking it to go, a nice gesture by the staff. The two drinks were perfect on a super hot day, super refreshing and could definitely tell that the tea is freshly made, not too sweet with the right sugar adjustments, we usually default to 50% sugar. I absolutely love the cups, one of the better cups around as it's super sturdy, and non-spillable. Best part is the cute design that displays the texture of the drink extremely well. This is the only tea shop that I visited that has a straw holder section on their cap (SEE PIC) for reference. This is unique and very much a nice gimmick to the cup. EGG WAFFLES WERE AMAZING. Couldn't tell if it was my egg waffle craving or it was just that good. Freshly made, super crunchy and soft, and each piece savored was another step to amazing quality on such a popular style of snack. Absolutely love the portions, very much a shareable snack. The matcha egg waffle is a must try if you like matcha, it didn't overpower the egg waffle taste itself and had that balance between the egg, matcha, and the waffle itself. Super tasty and highly recommend the original and the matcha. Overall, one of my favorite tea shops to go to with plenty of tea options, snacks, and seating as many visit here to study, hangout, and enjoy quality snacks. Love that I was able to share this place with my lovely wife.
Parking at Bubble Puff & Tea can be really difficult but the short walk from the neighborhood is worth it! You order at a kiosk and if you don't want a chocolate drizzle, you'll need to tell the person preparing it on the other side of the counter. The portion size is ENORMOUS. You'll be getting a really large waffle with a hefty scoop of ice cream. I would really recommend coming here is you want to try a bubble waffle!
I really like this little shop and I will return! I am always scared of the sweetness level when I try a new bubble tea.. "Too sweet" is so subjective.. To be on the safe side I ordered a 16 ounce Jasmine milk tea(they small size), 75% sweet with Boba. They have a touch screen where you can order. I assumed they wanted me to use that, since the worker behind the counter was making drinks alone. I do not prefer to use automated systems... My fingers fumbled on the touchscreen and I added in lychee jelly... Which I did not enjoy When I asked if it would be possible for them to remake my drink, the server asked her boss to make sure, and it was not a problem. Vivian was very cordial and helpful. She remade my drink 50% sweet, with only Boba. The shop is clean and very conveniently located across the street from Pasadena City College Parking isn't easy around here during high traffic times but that's LA for you. All in all I am always impressed when a. Establishment can work with the customer to help us find our preferred drink, vs deal with what you get, even if you hate it. I'll be back!
I have been passing by this tea shop for quite a while and was intriqued by the cute name. Recently I finally stopped by. I did not try their puffs or other Hong Kong style snacks yet, but enjoyed some teas. They have some jars on the counter with the loose teas so you can see how it looks and smell the fresh aroma. I really enjoyed that. Service is very good and friendly. The boba is firm and just right to withstand soaking in the tea. They have a good variety including "messy boba" which is coated in brown sugar. I really liked the crystal boba. The jasmine and osmanthus green teas were delicious and strong enough to taste in the milk tea. I would definitely return.
Grabbed drinks here on a hot day. Parking was tight, but they thankfully had a few spots in the tiny back lot. Ambiance (3/5): Pretty nice in there. There were plenty of seats and it seems nice for some midday studying. Service (3/5): I ordered from the kiosk, but the worker seemed attentive and quick with the drinks. Food / drinks (2.5/5): I ordered an Uji matcha latte and my husband ordered a watermelon slush. Uji matcha being one of my usuals at boba places that offer it, this was not my favorite. The added foam topping could not save it. It was earthy yet weak in flavor, almost bland. It was the oddest thing. My husband's watermelon drink, by contrast, was much more enjoyable. Their boba was okay, but tasted like the lower quality kind (if you know you know). I'm not sure I'd be back, and I'm a little confused by the good reviews, but maybe I just got the wrong drink. May try again if I'm in the area to give it another shot.
Best boba & tea shop in the Pasadena area run by a couple of boba gals! (I think sisters). This little shop has the best quality tea, boba, and Taiwanese menu snacks of all the places in the area. Nice large seating area with free wifi. Parking lot in the back of the shop. The two boba gals who run this place are super friendly and quick. Their boba and tea drinks are made from real tea and they have a lot of fruit tea drinks plus all the toppings and add ons. Support this women run business! They also have shaved ice desserts, bubble puff egg waffles, rice dishes, popcorn chicken + lots of other snacks, and even coffee and espresso based drinks. They are open late until 10pm on saturday nights especially for Asian desserts, waffles, late night snacks like mango drinks, curry crispy chicken rice, minced pork rice and other delicious food. Best thing is that they are still reasonably priced for the high quality tea that they serve. As other "high end" boba shops using tea shots, etc. have gone to around $8 - you can still get a better quality tea or boba drink here for around $6! Plenty of street parking too. Right across the street from Pasadena city college.
One of my favorite dessert spots in pasadena. I've tried their boba drinks and they too are good but the my guilty pleasure is the bubble puff pastries. Red bean with bananas. Ice cream and whip cream. Yum! It's always about a 10 minute wait because they make it fresh, it's always warm and crispy on the outside. Soft and fluffy on the inside. Almost like a pancake with all the goodies baked in the inside. The ice cream and whip is served on the side to keep it from melting. This one's a must try if you're in the area. Super casual spot.

Great customer atmosphere and service. This location used to be au79, which was incredible. Bubble Puff's teas are way too strong, they are bitter and too caffeinated. I have bubble tea near daily and i've never got so nervous from a milk tea. Its not only the caffeine which is the issue, but the taste is unpleasant because of it. I will start trying the other boba places on the block. read more

o6.24.2o21 This is where Pencil used to be. Those good old sandwiches! It's sad that it's gone but I didn't mind it having boba here though. I called to order two house milk tea with boba. One with regular boba and sugar for a colleague, another with agar boba and 75% sugar for myself. They said it'll be ready in 5m so I headed over right after the call. When I got there, there was a line. Luckily I called ahead to order! I got my drinks a few mins after paying while everyone else was still waiting. My colleague was a happy camper with her boba drink so it must be good. Mine was good too! The basics can be hard to find, a good one that is. I've also tried the matcha waffle with mochi. It was for to eat it while it's hot. As it gets cool, the mochi becomes hard so it won't be as enjoyable. This will be one of my to-go places for yummy boba. read more
Ambiance: welcoming open space, one kiosk order station so timing is key, location has seating for about 25. Service: food came out to us within 5 minutes of ordering, we went around 5pm and the place was half full. The kitchen crew looked fully staffed so wait was not long at all. Food: we ordered the bublepuff with Nutella and strawberry ice cream. The waffle was super crunchy and Nutella added a balanced sweetness. Came here to try the puffs. The regular flavor is definitely the best, matcha was so-so. Definitely eat it when it's fresh so it's warm and crispy. You get to pick toppings to add for a fee. The regular boba milk tea was 4/5 and uji matcha latte boba was 3/5. Boba was a perfect texture but the tea I wasn't a fan of. I will say I'm not fond of the ordering system- it's a kiosk but no descriptions of the items other than the name. I wish they could just let us order verbally as it is easier for the customer. The waffle is still as good as last time. It always reminds me of the egg waffle I've had when I was in hongkong. I didn't expect that I could get it here. The staff highly recommended their matcha latte. She told me their matcha is imported from Japan and I was surprised because I know that is pretty expensive. And I could tell it is definitely not a cheap matcha powder because of the taste and the color. A fine quality matcha powder is that you can tell from the bright green and fresh taste, without any clumps. Wish they could have a bigger size because small size is definitely not enough! read more
location & parking: located perfectly across the street from PCC / chickfila! there is a private parking lot but it is super tight, old, and has limited spaces. not very convenient but you van always park on the streets. food & drinks: drinks are pretty competitively priced from $5-7. we ordered a osmanthus milk tea and a honey lemon tea! their tea flavors could be a bit stronger, but they werent bad. just nothing special. the popcorn chicken was around $8 and the portion was quite small. great flavor and perfectly cooked tho! service: came on a tuesday afternoon and it was pretty calm and quiet. upon walking in, you order on the kiosk on your own if youre paying with card and order at the register if you are paying with cash! the staff were fast and nice. vibes: the ambiance is chill, seems like a great place to work as it was quiet, well lit, and had ample seating options. note: be careful if you park in the private parking lot! it is just a really tight and small lot, had to move very slowly and carefully to back out of there. also, their lot is marked with the shop name. overall: 4/5 stars, with a combination of everything. its a solid place, and id come back! just maybe park on the street or walk over. read more
My friends and I were looking for a boba place in the area and it wasn't easy to find one that's open after 8pm on a Friday in Pasadena... we were very excited to try this place. I had the orange green tea with honey boba. It was very refreshing. I do wish they added a bit more tea and orange juice because it was kinda bland. Overall, pricing was great, customer service is good. I can't wait to try the bubble puffs next time. Oh, avoid the parking lot at all cost. Trust me. read more

It's amazing they're still open during this pandemic. They take all of the safety precautions and please, wear a mask. Not to protect others but to protect yourself from idiots. The workers are very nice and kind but sometimes it's only one at the register so please be patient. I highly recommend getting the bubble waffle. It's sweet on its own so you don't need any extra topping. Plus, it's fun to eat! Drink faves are the standard Thai iced tea with boba, messy brown boba, and jasmine milk tea. read more
After a stroll at Huntington we needed something refreshing. Here was our experience on a Saturday afternoon. Parking: Street/neighborhood parking. We didn't have any issues but then again this was around COVID-19, it could be busy when school picks up again. Seating: As of right now for COVID-19, there really isn't any. Maybe about 4 chairs to sit as you wait. Feels: It's not in the most popping place of Pasadena but around the corner as it's close to Pasadena City College. I enjoyed the vibes. Great place to grab and then enjoy the sights and scenes of Pasadena. Whether you're here for a food adventure or friendly date night. FOOD: Honey Grapefruit Tea (Recommend) Deeelicious. The honey really makes all the difference. You get the healthy acid of the grapefruit with an actually slice with the tea! A favorable treat. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Excellent! Props to the employee who held it down during a rush. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Excellent! I dig the vibe, the food, and presentation. Location Small place the corner of the intersection E Colorado Blvd. & Harkness Ave and the door is on Harkness Ave A very short flight of stairs To go set up Plastic bag, drink holder and a sticker over the lid with an opening. I really like that they have that sticker they really thought about spill prevention plus Durian smells awful so that helped with the smell. They treat customers well to make sure you won't have problems to transport drinks. Drink It's not common to have a Durian drink, my mom loved it. I loved my red bean drink even though I am lactose in tolerant. Worth the 4 lactaid pills to try to prevent stomach problems but still got a stomach ache later. It tasted so good! Fresh and tasty. I wanted to get boba so I yelped and found this place. Inside seems very modern and chill. The parking is hard to find but to the back of the building, there is a very small parking lot. 4 stars is for the Bubble Puff. We ordered one with mochi, it was so soft and delicious. 3 stars for milk teas. We ordered 3 different kinds: Tiger sugar, house milk tea (75% sweet) and Hokkaido milk tea (75% sweet). The house milk teas tasted really strong for the sweetness we asked. The Hokkaido milk tea had more milk than the tea, it tasted bland. My sister who is an avid drinker of milk teas didn't finish hers (first time ever). You could electronically order in the store if you are paying via credit card. When we dropped in, there was only one staff doing all the orders. Kudos to her! read more

I love this cafe. I come here to study after class or before class and it's honestly such a cute place to study with your friends. One thing I wish was better though is the space. It's a cute cafe, but it's pretty small and the tables are small too. It's in a way uncomfortable to study with two people. Also, I realized some part of their cafe is really messy like boxes everywhere. Also, It's hard to get a seat if you come late. I also haven't gotten a drink yet that was beyond my expectations where I really enjoyed, but their drinks are okay. Not the BEST, but still good to drink near my campus!:) If you are around, definitely give it a try! read more

Durian!!! This place serves DUrian!!! They have durian blend, durian soy milk and durian waffle puff. The waffle puff was amazing!! You can taste the durian in every piece!!! Of course, they have other flavors as well but you should check it out yourself. The list of fillings was long. They also serves teas. The peach oolong was refreshing. Quality was great but I do recommend it without the cheese foam. Just didnt go well together for me. Popcorn chicken was ok. It wasn't crispy and there was no basil. Simple and pretty good. Inside was clean and workers were prompt in serving the food. I like that there's a lot of individual tables for students to have room to spread out and study. Staff wore masks and kudos for keeping the door open for air ventilation. read more

Good selection of teas, fully customizable sweetness levels, several types of boba, and two different kinds of foam. I definitely appreciated having a screen to order to avoid all the back and forth with the busy boba-ristas. Prices were reasonable considering the price of boba these days. There was a pretty good wait, but the drinks are made to order and the door was open, so very Covid-conscious. The matcha foam did have a subtle matcha flavor and was not too sweet. read more

Absolutely love this place! They take their time to brew each cup and don't have them batched and then reheat their teas like other places. The staff is extremely polite and accommodating. They always make sure I'm aware how extremely hot the teas are bc I usually buy 4 at a time. They place them in tray so I don't drop or burn myself since they are fresh! This place is tucked away so sometimes I forget about it. It's right next to PCC, so I believe it might be a good spot for students. Pasadena has had an uprise in boba places in the last few years. Bubble Puff and Tea is still higher on the list of all these new places. All these shops have opened but few of them have decent popcorn chicken. I would say maybe 4 of them have popcorn chicken and the only 2 that taste good are Bubble Puff and Prolece. I will say that I can't find any place in Pasadena that has popcorn chicken that tastes like true Taiwanese chicken with 5 spice, but these will do. The only reason why I'm giving them a 4 instead of a 5 is because sometimes their chicken is inconsistent. For example, once we got it and the chicken had no seasoning and just tasted like we were eating fried chicken pieces..almost like nuggets. However, when they do get it right - the chicken combo with rice is nice and hearty! The drinks here are really nice. My favorite drink of theirs is their avocado smoothie. There are also many places that can't make a good avocado smoothie but theirs is soooo good! I can't resist ordering it. They also make very tasting egg waffles. They are really big so I would suggest sharing! read more
