Our server appeared promptly with my ice water. The booths are larger than many and it would have seated four without crowding. After a day hiking, and after sticker shock of eating in the town of Jackson, we decided to go to Bubba's because it was next to where we are staying. The food was outstanding. I got half barbecue chicken, which was delicious. My wife got a Cobb salad and my son got brisket pulled pork. Everything was wonderful. When we decided to come here with a party of 5, we were pleased to find that they had call ahead seating. When we arrived at the restaurant, their was no wait since we did call ahead. Immediately after sitting down, a waiter came by and immediately served us water. I ordered the 3 meat platter with brisket, pulled pork, and the barbecue chicken. I also got baked beans and French fries as a side. When the plate came out, it was full of food and it was piled high with meat. The brisket was tender and flavorful and had a terrific crust. The pulled pork was also very juicy, and the chicken was very moist and cooked perfectly. The French fries were crispy and the baked beans were flavorful and hearty. They have COVID precautions in place like hand sanitizer available and no one is allowed to wait in the front of the restaurant to avoid crowding. I'm not sure if some people realize that we can hear you quite perfectly even with the mask on... We placed a takeout order on the spot and it was ready in about 20 minutes. Ordering a lunch special was actually a great portion size for my husband and I. We got the brisket with mac n cheese and fries for sides. The brisket was fantastic! Super flavorful and juicy. The mac was a little too runny for my liking, but it tasted fine. The lunch comes with a piece of Texas toast too. Overall a solid BBQ joint if you're looking for a more affordable option in Jackson. Ii got the $21 brisket dinner incl two sides takeout here on March 10, for my first meal in Jackson, after arriving at the airport at 10 pm the previous night. I love smoked BBQ brisket and Bubbas was 3 blocks from where I was staying in town. I asked for extra fatty. I asked what kind of BBQ sauce they have, and I told John the manager, that I do not like SOUR BBQ sauce. I like sweet. He told someone to get me something, but i did not hear what it was. What I didn't know was if I had arrived an ouhour earlier just before 4 pm, I coulda ordered same 8 oz brisket with 2 sides for only $15 in the "lunch" section of the menu, served till 4 pm. I was told the amt is the same 8 oz as dinner. 1 hour difference woulda saved me $6 for same sides and meat. I did not eat my takeout until 4 hours later, at 9 pm. When I opened the BBQ sauce container, I saw it was ketchup and tasted just like ketsup! Wow someone made a mistake! Ketchup is kinda sour, cos it has vinegar in it. I did not want to walk the three blocks back in 4 degree temps, but I called John and told him I was so blown away that they put ketchup in my brisket takeout box! John said that I said that I didn't want spicy, and ketchup is not spicy. I said I never said anything about the word "spicy", what I said was I don't like SOUR, like a lot of vinegar. He did say that the BBQ sauce for the baby back ribs was mostly catsup. I would think that a BBQ specialty restaurant can come up with a more original and creative BBQ sauce than catsup! Anyhow, we debated the ketchup and "sour" vs "spicy" for quite a while, till John finally said he was working the next day, and if i came in, he would make it up to me. So i went there Fri and he gave me another brisket dininer including the two sides. This time I picked mac and cheese. Last time I picked coleslaw, but they only give you 2 tablespoons in a sauce container, same aas BBQ sauce round container. I thought the cole slaw amt was kinda stingy, especially when cabbage isn't that expensive. But the mac and cheese was put in a larger 6 oz plastic container, like chip dips come in. The mac and cheese was soooo delicious, like it was made with evaaporated milk or butter. If it weren't for the catsup BBQ sauce, I would give Bubbas a 5 star, because the brisket meat itself was really soft and smokey The sides were pretty tasty, too, beans were good! The lunch prices for same quanity as dinner items, give extra value. If it weren't for me staying in a timeshare unit, I woulda had my own sweet KFC Original BBQ sauce in my home cupboard. Really didn't wanna ruin my meat that I paid $23+ for by putting ketchup on it. I even went back to Bubbas a forth time to get more of the BBQ sauce they didn't give me the first time, which was sweet enough, they use it on the pulled pork. read more
