Waited for 30 minutes both nights I went when it appeared that there were plenty of open seats. I know workers in this industry are limited, but it seemed like there was staff everywhere. While traveling back to Arizona from Minnesota we decided to take a mini tour on the way home. Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, etc. We stopped in Cody, WY for the night. Wanted a good meal so we checked out Bubba's. The food was excellent, ribs were a little dry but very flavorful. The house BBQ, sauce with the coffee in it is amazing. Great home cooked fresh food. I thought this place was a great value. The food tastes good, the potions are large, and price was very reasonable. I got a sausage, egg, cheese breakfast sandwich and it was probably the biggest breakfast sandwich I have ever eaten. Portions were also very large for the items my family ordered too. I would have given this place a better rating if the service was better. The hostess was very rude. We are a family of 7 and she complained about having to seat 7 people to one of her coworkers right in front of us. Also our waitress just seemed like she really hated her job and did not really make us feel welcomed. So at this place you can expect good food at a good price but the staff will treat you like trash. read more

My husband (who loves BBQ) and I stopped here twice: once for dinner on Sunday 6/12 and since we really enjoyed it we came back for breakfast on 6/13 on our way to Yellowstone NP. We had two different experiences with the service and food quality. Dinner: The place looked crowded but we were sited right away and placed our drink order. We took some time to look at the menu, the server answer all our questions and took our order with no issues. Then she brought us our food right away and kept bringing us drink refills. We order the Brisket sandwich. The brisket was served with a dry rub with the sauce on the side, the sauce was tangy and a little sweet and the brisket had a good smokey taste. The bun was buttery and fluffy. We order cheese on my husband's sandwich and asked to get it on the side since (two slices), like that we each got a sliced on our brisket sandwich :) The fires were crisp and thin/skinny they were perfect for dipping on the BBQ sauce. Overall I would recommend going for dinner and having the brisket :) Breakfast: The place was almost empty there was only one party of 4 next to us. The server took a long time to take our order then let our food sit under the hot lap for like 10 minutes as the cook rang the bell and called her name several times (indication food was ready to go). The gravy on my husband's chicken fried stake was cold and the eggs on my order were also cold. The biscuit was dry I didn't enjoy it. After seeing the ratings we decided to try Bubba's. We both ordered the BBQ brisket meal. The meat appeared and tasted like BBQ pot roast!! Not the same texture as brisket and had a 1/2 layer of fat on all of it. Nothing like a lot of the photos on here. The coleslaw tasted like mayonnaise and overruled any other taste. Have been to a lot of BBQ places and so far this is the worst. At this point I'm questioning their reviews and ratings. After sending in my review: The owner responded that there was a beef shortage and they substituted with what they had. So that means that whatever you order can be substituted and you will be charged the same price and not notified of what you are eating. Good luck with that!! read more

Large portions and sides -- our party of 3 left with enough food for 3 additional meals. French fries were crispy and fresh. BBQ sauces on the brisket and chicken were sweet and tangy. We ordered side salads and were pleasantly surprised the greens were not just iceberg lettuce. Definite bang for your buck! The waitress was super helpful with a pleasant demeanor. The kitchen goofed up our side orders but she immediately noticed once she reached the table and made sure to bring over the forgotten sides. Regularly stopped by to check in on us! We visited this restaurant because we've been told by someone in Montana that it was a great place to eat. I realize that everyone has different expectations but we were highly disappointed. The corn on the cob tasted as if it had been soaking in water all day long. The spare ribs we're very greasy and the ends were very hard and hard to chew. The cheese curds were good and The wait staff was friendly and adequate. It's seem to be a very popular establishment but we were very disappointed. The bbq chicken was on the drier side but had nice flavor. The bbq beans were really tasty and the cole slaw was passable. I was itching to try out the salad bar the whole time, but the options for the salad bar made no sense, seeing as it was tiny and I would have assumed that such a small salad bar would simply be included in every meal. I've traveled America in my 68 years, eaten my way across the country so to speak. I'm not a picky crotchety old woman. I have happily eaten my way from coast to coast eating mediocre to the most superb food, just happy someone else did the cooking. I've never sent food back. We stayed in the hotel next door for 4 nights and watched the crowds come and go. We saw the fairly small wood grill and ricks of wood piled next to it. We never saw or smelled smoke oddly. Not heeding the Yelp warnings but following the crowds we went. The staff consists of very sweet ladies who seem to aim to please. I would call the service good. But I can say I have had the worst meal in my life. Beginning with the wrong order being brought first. The up side, was that my husband enjoyed his short ribs slathered in his baked beans, liked the mixed vegetables and ate the toasted sandwich bread slices without comment. There was only one flavor of B-B-Q sauce on the table, and not the same as on the meat. My meal: mixed veges--some cooked to pulp, some al dente; slaw--good; bread--cold toasted unbuttered sandwich slice; baby back-ribs--could not cut them with a steak knife, pink as roasted or smoked should be, both ends of the half rack dry, tough. I would give this is a 5 for our beef items, but the pork was terrible. It was dry and had an off taste. Neither my husband nor I could eat it. It even looked weird. Some pieces didn't look like meat. They were , also, out of baked potatoes when we arrived around 7pm. I'll give them a break on that though as they had just recently reopened. Worst bbq restaurant I have ever been to. The smoked pork was dry and had little to no flavor, and the Turkey was even worse. The coleslaw tasted like it was a week old. The waiter didn't give us any silverware. When I asked to exchange the coleslaw for potato salad she said ok and then didn't come back for 10 minutes but when she did come back she asked if we wanted the check. Baby back ribs were not very tender, outside was overdone and sauce was mostly ketchup. Bud light came flat from the tap; replacement glass also flat.
