I've had the burrito, which wasn't wrapped so much as it was swaddled like a newborn prize-winning livestock animal. It weighed more than my first dog. Then there's the tacos...I took one bite of the taco and instantly forgave my landlord for raising my rent. The flavors are so vibrantly authentic they will make you forget you are standing in northern Wyoming.The service is fast, the portions are borderline aggressive, and the food is pure magic. We came here for lunch. This place is authentic. The decor is Mexican and there is Mariachi music playing in the background creating the perfect ambience for a good Mexican meal. Of course there were chips and salsa as the complimentary appetizer. I ordered the fajita burrito. This is basically a fajita wrapped in a tortilla. It had carnitas, green peppers, onions, and cheese wrapped in a large tortilla. It was smothered in red sauce. Green and white sauces were an option. Additionally this burrito was topped with a sour cream sauce. It came with red rice and refried beans as sides. The order came out in a reasonable amount of time. This burrito was large. I ended up taking half of it home for dinner. The meat was tender and the vegetables were frilled perfectly. The rice and beans were what you'd expect. We were referred to Michael's a several locals and by reading yelp reviews. First, I would tell you that the food taste it OK. Restaurant was clean and the staff was as pleasant as they could be for as busy as it was. The locals told us this was the best Mexican place in town. I'm glad I didn't try the others. And I do have to say when we left, there was a line out the door. Now the main reason for my two stars Quantity of food in value . I ordered chicken enchiladas, with beans and rice. I'm 61 years old and those were the two smallest chicken enchiladas I've ever seen in my life I'm fairly confident they were made on flour taco shells. As for the beans and rice side dish, the smallest portion of beans and rice I have ever been given. Food was served hot in a timely fashion, and it tasted OK. I moved to Powell this summer, and I was really missing a good Mexican restaurant. After asking locals and lifelong residents of Cody, we went to Michaels. My oldest son was visiting, so I took him and my three younger sons. Honestly, some of the best Mexican food I've had in quite a while. The fajitas were excellent, my son's burrito was enormous, and my other son said it was the best torta he ever had. My youngest is eight, but he can really pack away the food. He ordered off the kids menu, and it was adequate for a light lunch for him, but next time I will probably order him a full sized entrée. I took home a to go box home with some fajita meat for lunch the next day, and my son had about 1/3 of his burrito left as well. The salsa was very fresh, and they even had white cheese queso, which has been hard to find since I left the south. The atmosphere is casual and fairly busy with lots of families and of course a few tourists, but it felt like mostly locals. We were served by an older gentleman who may have been the owner. Well all the reviews are spot on - The food is delicious and the service is not. The workers are all working very hard but it's still a bit slow. Long story short, if you want to sit outside you have to order "to go" and you don't get free chips. We stopped in at 530, not realizing they close at 6pm everyday. Even though we were there fairly late, we never felt rushed. I had the carne asada and had asked for it medium rare, and it came out well done. I mentioned this to the waiter, and they replaced it quickly with no hesitation.
