I like to eat here on our annual motorcycle trip to the area I really enjoy their great burgers. Today the burgers didn't disappoint, Unfortunately the service or should I say lack of service from our server has us questioning a return. I will say the tables around us were getting very good service from the other servers. Our server seemed put out to take our order and gave us a " I heard you" when we added something to our order a second time because she didn't acknowledge it the first time. Our sever then brought us our drinks and that was the last time we saw her, another server brought us our food and ours finally showed up with the check and said "done" took our food baskets and left. So a meal that I was looking forward to was a bad experience. So if you like a good burger go and are a gambler by heart and want to take your chances and roll the dice on not getting our server have at it, but if the older heavy set what use to be blonde is coming to your table you just rolled snake eyes. read more

Used to be decent. Good burgers, though there isn't much else on the menu of note. However, although I've been coming here off and on since 2010, the service has really, really suffered. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Outside of the first ~15 minutes when my beer order was originally taken, no one bothered to see how we were doing, let alone refill my beer, and we were there for almost two hours. When I finally got tired of waiting and went to the bar to pay for the one beer I was lucky enough to have gotten. I complained about the poor service. The staff's response? To complain they were short-staffed with only two servers/bartenders. My response? "That's not my problem, that's yours, and no one should have to wait for ~40 minutes to get a beer refill." My one beer was $5.50. I paid in cash and left the $0.50. The server told me they didn't want even that, though it was, in fact, a 9% tip. Terrible these days. Restaurant/bar owners and managers really need to train their staff better. The fact is, when I'm a happy customer, I do tip really, really well, (minimum of 20%-25%), especially when I know I'm taking up a table that could be used for customers who will also order food. Additionally, 10 of us came in Sunday, August 3, 2025 for lunch when the service was also absolutely terrible. The owner/manager really needs to do something about the awful service. Otherwise, the only thing that will keep them afloat will be the unfortunate tourists in the summertime. I really wish The Local was still open. I never got bad service there. read more

Service is pretty rough even for it being pretty dead on a lunch time. Servers aren't really attentive not even just our table but everyone's. Reason we walked in because it was voted best burger and they even had a speciality where they called it blacken where the put Cajun seasoning on the burger. Who knew that one of the best burgers I've had in recent memory would come out of a random bar on Cody Wyoming's main drag? After spending a lovely day up the street at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, we decided to head out for a late lunch. After spending the better part of the day on our feet, we wanted somewhere comfortable and easy- and we found that in spades here. It was still a bit cold when we were in town, so we opted for indoor seating. Although, there are plenty of options for indoor/outdoor seating. I'm imagining that at peak hours it can get delightfully raucous in here, but on a casual weekday afternoon, we were able to eat in complete peace. Inside you have all the makings of your typical haunt. A pool table, a jukebox, a massive bar featuring any drink your heart could desire- and plenty of places to sit. You can sit directly at the bar, or at one of the many large, risen, wooden tables. It's a fun atmosphere, with United States flags strewn across the ceiling. Approachable and lively, but not overly kitschy. **Now- when it comes to food- it's all about the burgers PERIOD. I'm sure there are other great items on the menu (some of them we sampled including the mozzarella sticks & chicken tenders- both very good, albeit standard bar fare) But it's those burgers, those big juicy- succulent- rich burgers that you MUST try. We were told by our waitress that the burgers are hands-down THE must-have item, and she was correct. While everything else was great, you just can't beat those burgers. I didn't personally have mine blackened, but my dining companion did- and his words pretty much-mirrored mine "this is the best burger I've had in a really long time" And so there you have it. While The Silver Dollar may appear inconspicuous from the outside, they're churning out all your favorite bar specialties in a surprisingly comfortable and spacious setting. Bonus points for the staff, perfectly hospitable and clearly veterans in the game. If this kind of haunt appeals to you, it's definitely one of the best of its kind. Silver Dollar make ya holler! This is a fun place- it was hopping when I went! They had a live country and western band going, beer specials, and shots! This place offers slot machines- they're 'games of skill,' not chance, so it's not gambling. Right? They have a few at the back, but I couldn't figure out how to get any money out of them. They have a variety of local beers and stuff made from Huckleberries. They claim to have the best burgers in the west, but I dunno about that... The staff was friendly and talkative. I enjoy the decor- there's dollar bills sunk into the tabletops and silver dollars around the place. It's kinda cool for a numismatist! There's pool and darts in the back, and an ample smoking area on the patio. The whole place is ADA accessible. This place has some of the coolest carpeting I've ever seen. It looks like it's a 90's cowboy boot motif that must've been salvaged from a casino somewhere. read more

Having a drink at the bar and went to restroom. Biker was sitting next to my spot when I returned. Then a guy came in and started flirting. Woke up several hours later in the emergency room. Anytime I am in Cody visiting family was always head to the Silver Dollar. They have the best burgers in Cody. I am especially partial to the black and bleu burger, which my aunt and I usually split with some onion rings on the side. I had originally came here on a geology trip back in 2008 and this year I happily made my return on June 24, 2011. Once again my brother Chris and myself drove on a geology trip for Pasadena City College. This was day 7 of a 13 day field trip and today we first did laundry in Cody and then we had about 3 hours of free time to spend in Cody. The two instructors (Bryan and Martha) of the field class plus my brother and myself decided to eat at the Silver Dollar for dinner. Now Bryan, Chris and myself were hungry as bears so the three of us ordered the $12 Silver Dollar Burger. This burger comes with a full pound of meat. Two patties, bacon, your cheese of choose, toppings of choose. I ordered my burger with grilled onions, pepper jack cheese and jalapenos. The burger came with fries. This burger was a beast and it's made with prime cut ground meat. I had to cut my burger in half before I could start eating it. The prime meat really made a difference and was very juicy and packed with flavor. I think they make their own fries because they look and taste homemade. Not greasy. Believe it or not the three of us ate all of our burgers and fries. Martha order the half pound burger. This is a great place to come to for lunch. They have pool tables and a full bar. On the window of the bar it reads "The best burgers in the west" and to tell you the truth I can't disagree. read more
