We stayed at 7 hotels during our trip and this was everyone's favorite!! The room was HUGE, with a spacious kitchen and bathroom. The wonderful owners even dropped off a basket filled with delicious breakfast items. We were told that if we wanted pot roast at the restaurant, we should get there around opening, because this is a popular spot with the locals. The food did not disappoint!! At the end of our trip, we had a bracket ranking and the pot roast came out on top! My husband and I checked in to "The Hunters" cabin which is a stand alone cabin with no attached neighbors. Out front there is a little lawn, a porch with a picnic table and 2 chairs. Once inside, there was a kitchen, a dining/living room, 1 bathroom and 2 bedrooms with closets. This cabin was so comfy and welcoming! The staff at Wapiti Lodge really thought of everything when it came to their guests. They had ice cube trays in the freezer, games in the cabin, a little breakfast basket in the fridge with snacks, bagels, cream cheese and orange juice. Plus they had a travel cooler that you could use during your stay. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Wapiti and we highly recommend you stay here! read more

we stayed at Wapiti Lodge for 11 days. it is the perfect little cation on the Shoshone River between Cody and Yellowstone park. the cabin was fully furnished and had everything we needed. Due to our long stay. we ran out of paper products and coffee. Beth was quick to get us some more. We stayed here for one night. The grant cabin was so cozy and cute. The room and bathroom were very clean, the kitchenette area was nice, and the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant was right down the hall and made for a very easy stay. The food was better than expected, they had a good selection of alcohol, and the views were wonderful! The breakfast was a basket of yogurts, apple juice, muffins, and apples which was nice but could have been improved. The fridge did not have a freezer which was slightly disappointing. Not a good experience! We paid $225 for a room because we knew they had a restaurant and bar. It was a long day of traveling...to be told the restaurant and bar were not open was very disappointing. We were told there was another restaurant 6 (six) miles down the road. It was actually 30 miles! We could have gone to Cody faster. No cream and sugar for coffee, no paper towels. My family held our family reunion here over the Fourth of July. With my large family, we filled up the entire place and many of the RV and trailer spots. Newly remodeled dinning room and full bar were great. Corn-hole, fire pit, and a horseshoe pit were outside. Breath taking views from all the parts of the property. We arrived here late at night just before they closed the front office. I'm amazed that they dont have 24 hour service but I guess things are different here. The service was good and the room was pretty perfect. The decor was very rustic and it gave a very "at home feeling." The room was small indeed, the beds were very comfortable and the everything was very clean. Heater and AC worked great, the shower had great water pressure. We felt great staying here. Stopped in on our way home from town and a day at the museum to see about the restaurant and bar. Great bar food, and tried a new beer that went over well. Great views of the mountains and wonderful warm people that run the place. Indoor and outdoor seating but it was a little chilly for outdoor. Would highly recommend this place. We had preplanned to stayed here upon exiting the YNP through the East Gate. All I can say is, we were not disappointed. They are working on opening up a bar and grill, which will only make the place better than it already is. We were quite surprised as the front of the lodge didn't seem like much, but looks can be deceiving. We can tell that the owners, Kenyon and Beth Kyle paid attention to details. We stayed in the "Hayden Room", which was like a small but very adequate apartment with all the amenities that made one feel like they were at "home away from home!" Every effort was made by the family members to make our accomodations quite enjoyable. The Kyle's two kids, Dakota and Courtney, we're always available to ensure our stay was warm and friendly. Now we know where to stay when we return to visit the Yellowstone area. I would definitely recommend the Wapiti Lodge to my family and friends. Oh! one more thing , the food was great and the bar had a sufficient stock which made the beautiful background mountain ambiance even more spectacular. read more

This place is off the charts. Shoutout to the new ownership team - they're friendly and professional, along with serving some wonderful food and beverages. My server recommended the special - Poblano Mac n Cheese - and said I should add in some brisket. When someone asks brisket or no brisket, I think it's pretty simple. He was a wise man! The perfect balance of spicy and rich, I could've eaten that till the cows came home. Draft beer selection is a good blend of local heavier and lighter with some fan favorites sprinkled in. Charming rustic decor, the creme brûlée in little mason jars with fresh berries was some of the best I've ever had... and the best part... the people. I stayed here, the night before driving to Yellowstone. I wanted to find a place that would get me close to Yellowstone as possible, as I wanted to drive in the next morning and get a campsite that was first come, first serve. On the East side, most who want to enter Yellowstone stay in Cody, WY. Wapiti Lodge is a little CLOSER than Cody. So, location was wonderful. It probably took us 25 minutes to get to the park. I almost wished we weren't camping in Yellowstone, but coming back to Wapiti instead because it was such a cute place. We stayed in the sportsman cabin. Behind the lodge and its cabins twists the Shoshone river. Behind the river, are beautiful mountains. Out back, there are benches to admire the scenery and games for the kids such as horseshoes. Inside, there is a game room with foosball, pool and ping pong. Our cabin was clean and the beds were very comfortable. I read a review that said something about Wapiti being right on the road, thus being loud. It is right on the road to Yellowstone. But, it's a small road and not very busy and I didn't notice any traffic noise during the night (and our cabin was probably the closes to the road). We left at 6am the next morning, thus not having time to enjoy the breakfast, but the breakfast room looked really nice (great views) and I've seen photos of the breakfast buffet which looks yummy. The lodge's owner was very helpful to us. I contacted him a couple of times before our trip with questions and he responded quickly and was very informative. I assume, most who stay here are heading to Yellowstone. In the other direction (and VERY close) is Cody, WY and Buffalo Bill State Park (which is beautiful). If I didn't live 30 hours away, I would definitely stay here again, and stay longer. I really loved this place. read more

We stayed at their Riverhouse in August as a home base for our day trips into Yellowstone. Absolutely loved the cabin. Two stories, 2 bathrooms (one full and one just a toilet and sink which is perfect). Unbelievable view of mountains from our private balcony. Big screen tv, pretty fast internet, tons of space. If we didn't live so far away, we'd rent it more often as a home away from home. Just fantastic. Absolutely loved the location, the people, and the house. My wife and I had privacy from the kids in the downstairs master bedroom and our one son stayed upstairs and the other had his choice of three beds in the very large second bedroom downstairs that has a bunk bed and a regular size bed. The breakfast was very nice, too. If you are thinking about booking the riverhouse, book it! It also has its own private washer and dryer if you are so inclined. Full kitchen and dinning room table and family room upstairs which was perfect for playing games, watching tv, and relaxing. read more

Walked in and it smelled great. Great decor & such too. When we sat down the waiter came to greet us & said he would be right back with the menus and water. He brought us our mason jars (empty) with a pitcher of water, then said, "I don't know how many are in your group, so here ya go." We thought it was weird that he said that. But we went ahead & looked over the menus. The lowest price meal is $13.00 (burger & side). There are no options for kids. My daughter ordered an appetizer & is still hungry. However at $13 plus per meal for 7 people, we couldn't order more food. We asked how many chicken strips we get & the waiter said 5, so my kids ordered that. It only came with 3 chicken strips. The waiter said they only have one fryer so our food won't come out all together (which we hate that when we all go out). We want to eat together. When the waiter brought our food out, he didn't bring an condiments & just started talking to some other guests at the bar. So I got up and got my own condiments. (They have some to go packets). The customer service we got was not the greatest, but we left a tip anyway. The burgers are the frozen ones. (I know a lot of places have that, but for the price I expect it to be a homemade burger. They are just OK. The chicken strips were dry so my daughter had to douse them in ranch in order to eat. We were all so starving after a full day at Yellowstone, so we were hoping for a nice burger place. I would not visit here again. There was an older gentleman that seemed nice, but he wasn't our waiter. read more
