Three different people from around Cody Wyoming, recommended this place. looking for lunch, it was a bit too early, so we walked around town for about an 1 1/2 hours waiting for the door to open at 4. We were greeted with a wonderful smile and seated, then Olivia was quick to introduce herself as our server. The dining area was very comfortable with plenty of soft light and the walls displayed what looked like wonderful artwork from a local artist, nicely presented. Olivia started to take our drink order but we were hungry and ready to go to the next level. We asked about local favorites, After highlighting some things on the menu, she described the special of the day, a bacon wrapped sirloin. I was sold. I asked her if she would recommend a pairing from the bar, a cocktail. She suggested an Old Fashion with my steak and explained why. In short, my meal came eloquently plated with my steak perfectly seasoned and cooked ( HOLY SMOKES!! GREAT BEEF, PERFECT SEASONING AND PERFECTLY COOKED!!) My Old Fashion prepared with Woodford Reserve, was by far the greatest Old Fashioned i've had in a long time, probably the best ever, and it paired perfectly with that steak. OK this was our 5th visit over the past years and we expected an affordable yummy steak dinner as usual with great drinks. Drinks are still awesome, service is still amazing, but gosh did the prices go up from last year. 40% or more, unfortunately, we took a couple that isn't rolling in cash and we felt super bad. We decided to pay for all of us, since we all got hit by sticker shock. I totally understand inflation, the need to pay better wages, if this would have gone up 10-20% I'd understand, but that's big city prices. I unfortunately have to call it out, otherwise, people with a smaller budget hoping to get nice value again might be stuck with a much larger bill than anticipated -like us. Good solid steak place. Service is friendly and efficient. The food is tasty. Ordered the pork chop and it's massive. Charred just right so you can get that smoky flavor in each bite. It comes with three portions of veggies - pureed carrots (which is so yummy. it reminded me of a sweet potato casserole during thanksgiving, but it's carrots), sauteed red cabbage and broccoli florets. All good! I ordered fries as my side and they were crispy and potatoey - perfect! We also ordered the chicken fried chicken and it was good and hearty! A solid restaurant. I came for dinner & it was busy inside. I ordered the bison burger with sweet potato puffs. I LOVED the sweet potato puffs- they were extra crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Wonderful lively atmosphere. Server Jossette was friendly and efficient. The calamari was lightly breaded and tasted fresh. The side salads were good. I was a bit disappointed with my T-bone steak. I ordered it medium rare and it came out a bit tougher and more done on the edges. (I did try my companions' ribeye and baseball steaks and both were great.) The sweet potato and broccoli veggies were great. Love the taste of the sweet potato. The garlic mushrooms were fantastic. Companions' ribs were good. We had dinner here after driving from Yellowstone and this place does not disappoint. Our server was so attentive and friendly throughout dinner and always making sure everything was good. Me and my husband both ordered the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. The ribeye was so tender and flavorful. The puréed carrots on the side were excellent and I don't even like carrots. My husband and I ate at this restaurant for our 20th anniversary. Our anniversary is the only time I get to order steak as it is my favorite meal but ordinarily expensive, so we don't eat it otherwise. That said, I order my steak medium well every time. My experience is that medium well orders are not done correctly most times. Thus, when they brought it out, it was charred on the outside and well done on the inside, hard to cut and very tough. I still ate it as it wasn't bad, though I ended up giving it to my husband. I also ordered the garlic mashed potatoes with all the "fixins"; the potatoes were cold so I sent them back. The waitress brought back a fresh plate with the fixins separate as she claimed the potatoes were cold because of the coldness of the fixins. They were not cold 2nd time around, but not hot either, even with the fixins separated. Overall, food presentation is beautiful, with 3 extra veggies on the plate. The ambiance of the place is nice and we were seated by the owner who is very nice and a pleasant conversationalist. He offered us a free dessert (owner's homemade bread pudding which is very delicious) for our anniversary which I thought was generous. We noticed the place filled up as we were eating so it seems pretty popular with the menu having numerous options from which to choose. The food was 5 stars i had the chicken Marsala and my husband the ribeye. We loved our salads, my husband quoting "This is the best salad." Our appetizer was the pot stickers. Beautiful artwork on the walls. A bit cramped in the establishment. That might have been because there were a few larger parties here tonight, but it seemed to me that a place which is $$$ should have better space between the tables. Atmosphere is good, though. Not too rustic, just enough. Ordered no appetizers. However, I got the chicken fried chicken. Wifey got the Ribeye. I got a "Snake River Zonker". A nitrogen stout brewed in Jackson, Wyoming. Just a bit down the road. It was actually pretty damn good! The nitrogen carbonation worked well with the heavy malt. For my soup I had the lobster bisque. It was good, but not great. A little too much "fishy" taste to it. The staff are all pleasant and effective and attentive. Food should be coming soon! Food arrived. The dinner was way above average. WAY. The CFC had a great Cajun flavor. The veggies (broccoli, cabbage and sweet potato) were super. The cabbage mixed into the sweet potato (discovered by me) was exceptional. The second beer was good, but a little disappointing. "Jeremiah Johnson Mountain Man" was a great black ale, but couldn't stand up to the earlier offering. Adrienne's ribeye had GREAT flavor. I came here to say that the tri vegetable, specifically the CARROT SOUFFLÉ was a delectable treat on top of a great meal! I'm counting off a star because they ran out of the evening special (beef tips plate) by 8pm, and there were a couple of us really hoping to have it with our group. I am thankful they could seat the seven of us as we walked in the door, thanks to a cancellation. But since it was rodeo week (July 4 week) and tourism was heavy, they were requiring reservations from everyone. I'd say always call ahead or make a reservation for this place. It was tasty. I'm surprised that more establishments don't practice this approach. We ordered the shrimp scampi with a side salad ($24). The side salad was more than expected including croutons, cucumbers, tomato, red onion, and shredded carrots. The scampi came with approximately eight medium size shrimps. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The overall taste was good but not amazing. We also ordered the meatloaf platter with a soup (potato beef) ($18). The soup was delicious. I enjoyed having the Chicken Gorgonzola at the Cody Steak House. It was a good portion size and I enjoyed the rigatonis and chicken in that special cream sauce which was delicious. This restaurant is located on Sheridan Rd in Cody, Wyoming. It was very busy at around 5:30 when I arrived but I was seated immediately and the waitress took my order and food arrived in good time. The waitress & waiters here work like machines - but they were very polite and very attentive. I appreciated their work a lot. When I said something to the manager, she told us that the server forgot to turn our ticket in, then the server came up with a BS excuse that she wasn't trying to rush us. It's not often that I've found a place that EVERYONE in my family enjoys. This time we did. My daughter ate off the kids menu and her portions were pretty large and prices were amazing for what she got. My son had a bacon cheeseburger that he scarfed down and he's one of the pickiest eaters. My husband got the baseball cut sirloin(name may not be 100% correct). It came with a salad(or soup), a side (he got fries), and the veggies were mashed sweet potatoes, broccoli, and red cabbage. The pricing for the meals made perfect sense after seeing everything that came with it and to top it off the steak was perfect in almost every way (he let me taste it lol). I think Cody Steakhouse ruined restaurant steaks for us. They SET THE BAR. I had the fried shrimp meal. The sides were the same as the other main meals. The meal came with eight shrimp (I always worry they are going to be small) and the shrimp were more than large enough. The service was very attentive and very professional. All of the waiters were young gentleman that looked like they may have been working summer jobs but their professionalism was very impressive. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. While observing the comings and goings it appeared that there was people who frequented the restaurant regularly and staff knew their names and where they liked to sit. This steak house doesn't open until 4pm. I would recommend getting there early. Cody is a tourist spot for the Wild West so there are a lot of people running around and only so many places to get a good steak. Service was spot on. I was by myself this evening so I sat at the bar for food and drinks. Bar tender was friendly and great service. Steak was prepared perfectly! It was moist, tender, and great flavor.
