Cutest little place to go horseback trail riding, with dinner included in the dinner ride.
It was my first time ever riding a horse and I was scared shitless, but everyone was so nice and I got the sweetest little horse ever. Her name was Lady and she was beautiful and the smallest horse in the bunch. They get your height and weight ahead of time, when you reserve your spot (I'm guessing cause Mama Bredahl booked it) and then they pick a horse for you based on that and your riding experience.
It wasn't hard to get used to the way a horse moves, especially because the instructors and guides were really helpful. They made sure you were comfortable in your saddle and showed you how to turn right, left, stop, and go with the reins.
The weather was nice that day, kind of drizzling when we started off, but as we continued up and down the mountain trails, the sunshine peeked through the clouds and we had a good amount of sun for a while, then back to overcast (thankfully because I was wearing leather).
At one point, I remember going down a really steep hill and the guide said to be ready for our horses to slide down, and Lady just ran down the mountain and I almost freaked out, thinking she was gonna unseat me, but I held onto the saddle and we got through just fine. Everytime we went on a particularly difficult part of the trail and made it through unscathed, I gave Lady a love pat and rub. She was sweet.
By the end of the ride, the guide stopped us all at the dinner site and she cooked dinner for us. It was really nice and outdoorsy. We had beans, potatoes, steak, and toast. The garlic toast was amazing, I'm definitely gonna try grilling toast next time we barbeque. Bless her, she tried to grill medium steaks; we all got well done. The potatoes were just ok, underseasoned but they tasted good just because we were all starving. The dessert was strawberry shortcake, but it should've been named "pound cake with macerated strawberries." Oh well, still yummy.
I had an amazing time at this place and I'd come back anytime. And I now know why people love their horses so much. read more
