Both the meals we had at the restaurant were great!! I think Nick was our waiter for both dinner and breakfast. Service was excellent!! The kids were bummed that we didn't see any buffalo in Yellowstone but that was fixed this morning when there was one just wandering around among the cabins. As locals in Cody, we enjoy driving up to Pahaska Tepee for lunch. What a beautiful fall drive today and a great lunch from the crew at their restaurant. What a tourist trap. Check-In: FYI - The "front desk" is located inside the gift shop in the far left back corner. Not sure if it was just us super tired, or this place has no instructions/signs where to check-in. The restaurant server pointed us in the direction of the cabins and after a wild goose chase, we ended up in the gift shop looking for anybody to help guide us to where to check-in! A little frustrating when running on 3 hrs of sleep and after a long day at the Park. Lodging: The OUTSIDE of the cabins look cute (which tricked me into staying here thinking oh cute, that's Instagram worthy of a picture), but the inside is small, outdated, and needs maintenance. Microwave and Fridge are NOT in the room, but you do get 1 free bag of ice per night. They only have paper cups too FYI, so better drink your beverages fast or it'll get soggy. Also, the wifi does not reach the cabins, so you will NOT have any service whatsoever. It's basically camping with a bed and roof over your head. Restaurant: Disgusting. Please try to eat somewhere else before you check in or go back to your cabin! My bf ordered his steak Med-Rare and it came out Well-Done. My burger was just OK, but the Fries were a huge disappointment! The inside of them wasn't even cooked! I had to ask the server to re-fry them and he ended up bringing a new plate out. Ok...so after reading some of the other reviews. Be careful when booking at this place. We were in a cabin with 2 queen beds. The beds were ok...not super soft, but not terribly hard. The bathroom was not really clean. The shower gel was empty, so we had to dig ours out. The heater in the corner was COVERED with dust bunnies. I cannot imagine the first time it is turned on for the winter. As we settled in, we realized that there was no AC in the room. We were very glad that we had a portable fan to put in the window to help with airflow. Then the people checked in above us...we misearbly listed to the AC unit in thier space run all night as we sweated trying to get some sleep. When we checked in, I waited at the counter for 10-15 minutes as the person to check me in was on the phone. The customer on the line was trying to reserve a room for the night but her credit card was in the trunk. The rest doesn't really matter, I just wish that the person checking me in would have asked the to hold on after a few minutes rather than leaving me hanging. That being said...I would definitely CALL this resort before booking. The location is amazing! But seems that there are many different types of rooms. Even thought I hate calling to talk to someone...I would absolutely CALL AND ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BOOKING! read more

Just about 5 mins from the east entrance. The cabins are log and very cute. The surroundings are all green. We had a view of the mountains from our cabin. They have a restaurant that serves food starting 7 am in the morning upto 9:30 pm at night. The food is your regular American fare, big portions, meat, potatoes, and a fish. Their clam chowder was quite decent, which I enjoyed immensely. They have a gas station which opens at 7 am. The gift shop is interesting. Overall, this is a good place to come and chill out. If you plan to hit all the major things in Yellowstone, then start at 6 in the morning as it takes about 2 hours to get to old faithful. read more

I visited at the beginning of October, end of the season and really can't complain. The resort is nestled in the mountains, 2 miles outside of the east entrance of Yellowstone. The cabin I stayed in was small, but cozy. No tv or wifi in rooms, but that doesn't really matter if you're spending all day at the park. I was able to use the wifi while dining at the restaurant to touch base with family during my trip, which was good enough for me. There is a restaurant, gas pump, and convenience store on site. There are more activities available in the summer months, but I didn't spend too much time roaming around outside in the dark, as there was also a black bear on property when I arrived. If you're looking for a luxurious place to stay, this isn't it. If you're planning on spending your entire day at the park and need a comfortable bed to rest your bones at the end of the day, this is for you. Great deal and location and I would definitely stay here again next time I visit. read more

This review is for the restaurant and gift shop only, not the cabins. Drove out the East exit of Yellowstone park late one evening and ran across this place right when everyone was hungry for dinner. Stopped in about 8PM, about an hour before they close. Ryan the waiter was excellent, very prompt and checked back in multiple times. We tried the Grizzly Burger and the Buffalo Bill Burger. Both burgers and the accompanying fries were fantastic, best burger I've had in a while. Now the burgers are around $15, so definitely on the expensive side, but it's right outside Yellowstone and everything is expensive in the park and just outside of it. Gift shop was alright also, ended up buying the kids some T-shirts. Also to mention that the history is kind of cool, in that it was Buffalo Bill's hunting lodge back in the day. I would definitely stop and eat again if driving through. read more

We didn't stay here, but wish we had, as they were booked solid. Their prices, however, were very reasonable, just outside the park (about 10 mins from the east entrance )We stayed a few miles down the road, but came here every day for breakfast and sometimes dinner for our full visit---- albeit, there isnt much else as an option The breakfast and dinner were all consistently amazing, the staff was so friendly and accommodating, free wifi (which was rare in the area, so take advantage when you find it). There is a gift store, with similar items you find in the park, a small convenience store for limited food, and a gas station (also rare).... I noticed they had laundry facilities on site, which would have been valuable if we stayed there, which I found that many places around didn't provide or the facilities were broken. read more

Stayed at the pahaska lodge Thursday and Friday night back in June. Check-in done inside the gift store and was easy. Gift store has many neat things and seriously there are plenty more stores if u plan to go to Yellowstone. Housekeeping done daily. There were 4 of us along with 2 dogs. We got the 2 queen aframes, cabin 30. Thought the room was okay, good for sleep. Space very limited, 2 queens. Enough room for one person to walk between the two beds. A small bathroom with shower and closer. Duplex style. No grill area, microwave, or fridge so plan accordingly. A representative told us on the phone we can use the microwave at the convenience store/gas station. When we attempted to heat up some leftover food. A bigger lady with brown hair rudely told us it's not for heating food, it's only for heating up their store bought sandwiches. Even when we asked if we can buy some noodles and heat it up, still said no. Of course we just didn't go back to that gas station but still took advantage of the free ice/day which comes with staying at the cabin. Horse back riding was amazing! Loved it, Dakota was great!! He was our guide and was able to tell us a lot of the Wyoming outdoor. of course we were able to see a grizzly bear and her cubs from afar, and I mean it was far, a football field far and I was okay with that. The view was fantastic. Would do it all over. Only thing I would suggest is offer helmets? I work in the medical profession so having no helmets made me feel a little strange. Our room was nine feet by fourteen feet. We had to wait for each other to cross the room since there were just two feet between the foot of the bed and the wall (well, I guess I could have crawled across the room on the bed). This establishment had a lot of 'no' energy. No lobby or place to sit and organize your day. No coffee unless you purchased it in the restaurant. When I asked for extra hangers the answer was no, even though we were staying five days. How about a lamp for the bedside table? No. I offered to play soft acoustic guitar in the dining room during dinner. No, because "we already have music" (referring to the piped-in country-western music). The bartender cheerfully told me that if guests ask him for anything (pillows, cots, blankets) after 9:30 p.m. he always tells them no, "because I'm the bartender. The other staff have left, and this is not a 24 hour operation". In fairness, it's much harder to run a motel/restaurant in a rural, isolated area than in an urban area -- and this is very rural. And when we decided to leave a day early (in search of better lodging) the manager did give us a refund. He wasn't curious why we were leaving. Happily, we arrived at Yellowstone Lodge at 10:15 that morning, found exactly one room available, and took it, for only slightly more than we'd paid for the sad little room at Pahaska. Yellowstone Lodge was great and gave us the perfect end to our trip. read more

Review for the restaurant - This resort is a couple minutes from the east entrance to Wyoming, which makes it a great location. The decor in the restaurant is very cool and we enjoyed reading the history printed on the menus. However the food was disappointing. We ordered the buffalo burger which was dry/bland and boring. I always know the food is bad when my husband has to put extra salt on it. He also said the clam chowder taste like MRE food. The taco salad was depressing too. And the worst part, they DO NOT give you the wifi password in an area with no service for miles, unless you are a "paying" guest at the resort, due to their "limited data". But whatever, it stopped me from being hangry before entering Yellowstone. read more

Nothing good about it. Rooms are tiny. Cellphones do not work in the room. No WiFi in room ... and I had trouble using Verizon from the check-in lobby. No eating alternatives to the Pehaska dining room for many miles. I recommend you plan not to spend a night outside the East entrance to Yellowstone, as there are multiple hotel and dining options in West Yellowstone, which is closer to park venues. (And West Yellowstone has an interesting historical walking tour along its Main Street ... self-guided.) We're just back from a 12 day car trip to Yellowstone and Sun Valley. Our worst and most expensive hotel was Pehaska Tepee. read more

Hey, its an older facility that offers cozy, warm cabins just 2 miles east of East Yellowstone entrance. Its 53 miles west of Cody, WY, so why does it have a Cody mailing address? Hard to say, but since they offer lots of Wild Buffalo Bill memorabilia, and everyone thinks he's from Cody, that's one reason. Enjoy the outdoors! We found the cabins comfortable and roomy, restaurant food good, and service very friendly. Since there aren't any other restaurants close by, we were glad that the food and service were good. Sure, there is limited WiFi (limited to the gift store and restaurant only), but you aren't there to stay connected to the outer world. Yellowstone is a vacation - take a break! Would I stay there again? Yes, if cost is an issue. Its significantly less costly than any accommodations inside the park, and its an easy drive to Yellowstone Lake from Pahaska. If you leave prior to their 7 am opening, drop the key in a box outside the gift store door. read more

We stopped on our way to Cody after leaving Yellowstone. I had the Buffalo Taco Salad. It featured ground Buffalo and all the fixings you would find in a Taco Salad. This is THE closest that you can stay to the East entrance to Yellowstone National Park. We toured the park and stayed one night after we left the park. The cabins are sparse (no TV, not real WIFI, no cell service), and nothing fancy, but adequate for a night's stay. The restaurant food is excellent! 5 stars! If you have the option of eating dinner either at the Yellowstone Lodge cafeteria or at Pahaska, choose the Pahaska restaurant. The breakfasts are excellent! Also, be sure to tour the historic Buffalo Bill Lodge. There is a guide in there who gives little tours on summer weekdays. It's amazing. This is bear country, so be aware of that. They also have a wild buffalo that lives on site, so be aware of that in the morning. We really enjoyed the Pahaska! read more

This is a really cute, small place to stay very close to the East entrance of Yellowstone. They do not have any cell reception so it forces you to have a chance to unplug which was surprisingly great! All the staff is super helpful and friendly, we stayed in an A frame cabin, while it's small it's very cozy and the bathrooms are updated. Overall a great stay for the night! read more

(8/17/2016) Pahaska Tepee was William "Buffalo Bill" Cody's old hunting lodge and hotel opened in 1905. It's now a convenient rest stop if you're traveling between Cody (50 miles to the west) and two miles from the east entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Log cabin structures have been maintained, but the main building is now primarily a gift shop, a little disappointing in its commercialism. Bottled water was cheap, public bathrooms were a little rustic. read more

Poor attitude ! If you need wifi to locate GPS, contact your family or deal with business, definitely that you cannot pick this hotel ! There was no wifi in your room and we understand it because the hotel locates in the mountain area. So the hotel receptionist suggested us to use wifi in their lobby. However, in the morning we stayed in the lobby for 15 minutes to use the wifi, they disconnected the wifi by unplugging the cable. (We know it because there's a message showing something like "wifi cannot be connected because cable is unplugged" on our phones) We asked them why we could not use the wifi and they explained this 15 minutes have used up their whole day data. (They did not know we could see that message on our phones) So if you have to rely on their wifi for locating GPS, contacting family, following up business, this hotel is not a good choice for you because they will unplug the cable if you stay in the lobby using the wifi for just 15 minutes. read more

We were over by the eastgate of Yellowstone on 9/16/2016 and had reservations to stay at another place which turned out to be horrible. We left the other place and after driving a few miles, came across the Pahaska Tepee. Went in to see if they had a room for the evening and they did have a nice cabin available. The cabin was fairly priced, very comfortable for two adults and a dog. It was way up in the back of the property so it was very quiet at night! The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful and the restaurant staff were all also very pleasant to deal with. We were very happy with everything about the Pahaska Tepee and would definitely stay there again next season. read more

Totally misrepresented by Nat'l Park Reservations. This place is a dump. I almost cried when I saw our room because we had to stay there 2 nights. If we had known, would have just driven on to Cody. A dark, unpleasant room (#3). Walls paper thin. We stopped playing a dice game because we didn't want to offend our neighbors, then had the unpleasant experience of being able to hear their sexual romp. We almost applauded when they were finished. YUK. Glad we weren't traveling with kids. While the waiters and staff are friendly, the menu is way over-priced and not enough choices. Have been traveling for many years, and decided this was the 2nd worst place we have stayed in along with being way over-priced. read more

For the area, the price is fair. I don't think any accommodations close to the gate, or in the park would be cheaper. I stayed in cabin 9 with my two boys. We were there for, four days. We didn't have any issues with the room. I beds were comfy, and made everyday. We had fresh towels everyday too. The room was clean, and had a small table, and desk. There is no AC, which wasn't bad for us (we were there from July 30-Aug 3). For the most part we left at 7 am to start our day. When we came back to our cabin it was later, between 7-10:30 pm. We slept with the windows opened and it was very comfortable. They have their own horses for a trail ride. Do yourself a favor, RIDE WITH THIS LODGE. The view was SPECTACULAR!! The Wrangler, William was polite and informative about what we were seeing. Make a reservation. One day my Son wanted to go horseback riding so bad and this place was booked.. So we went to another place. Not the same scenery at all. I plan to come back for a visit. I plan to stay here again. It's like 5 minutes from the East entrance. If you are looking for wifi.. Stayed here for one night and it was OK but left us feeling a bit disappointed. Great setting in the mountains just outside of east gate of Yellowstone - so access to the park is great. This is a one stop gas station, souvenir shop, convenience mart, lodging, and restaurant. A variety of different buildings house various types of lodging opitions - most in older type cabin like buildings that are showing their age - this place has been around a long time. Housekeeping needs work, the place needs some basic repair. The restaurant was OK but nothing to write home about, and the cost for what we got was a bit high. This is specific to the restaurant we visited, our last option for dinner when everything within 25 mile radius around East Entrance was closed. Being a gourmet that I am, their Steak Au Poivre and Elk Medallions simply floored me! Good choice of beers, friendly service and 2-3 good pasta options for veggies. When researching staying in Yellowstone this was the cheapest option with the best location. Right outside the East Gate, with beautiful views. However, it was very expensive for what you got. No wifi in the rooms, only at the main lodge, or TV (I get it you're in Yellowstone and it's beautiful, you should take in the atmosphere and not need technology) this is all fine and dandy except you don't have wifi or service anywhere in the park so wifi at night would have been nice to call or text family back home. Also, there was no breakfast. I know many places are shying away from this, but for what we paid there should have at least been coffee. The cabins were TINY with one bed. It was just me and my mom so we didn't mind. At the end of the day if you're looking for great location at an OK price this is your best option. read more

We loved the character of this place. Real locals' bar, nice people, friendly and authentic (if not absolutely delicious) breakfast. We hung out in the bar late into the night to absorb the atmosphere. It's not for you if you expect the wireless to work -- the Teepee really shouldn't advertise having that capability -- or any amenities beyond the basics, especially after 9 pm. There's no late night food, so make sure you take that into account. We saw one "soft" urbanite get pretty obviously dismissed by the (otherwise chatty) bartender when he asked a bunch of dumb city slicker questions, so don't show up here if you're high maintenance. read more

Our room was one of four in an A frame cottage. We were at the back and the view out our door was a maintenace truck and building. The rooms were small, almost claustrophobic. There is no cell service in the area and the only WiFi is in the main building and it is really poor. There is an overhead light and a table lamp that doesn't give off enough light to read. There is no TV. In front of the room is a small "patio" area with a couple of cheap chairs. Our price was $170 + tax, in high season. I wouldn't stay there again. read more
