I wasn't very impressed by Brusters. This is not to say the quality was bad, but simply it just didn't stand out in any way. The ice cream tasted only slightly better than what you could buy at the grocery store for a much cheaper price. I decided to try out their milkshakes and got a classic Oreo shake, small size. The biggest benefit to Brusters is that their portions are quite good. For a small, this is more than enough. And, the prices are too bad either. A small shake is around $6.25. My main issue is that this shake was mostly flavorless. It wasn't sweet, or at least not in the way other shakes are. It was very basic, and just didn't impress me in any way. The Oreo chunks were somewhat clumped together and almost had a waxy consistency that was unpleasant. The vanilla itself was fine. All in all, if I come another time, I'll try one of the more unique flavors they offer, such as peach melba, sea salt caramel toffee, cheesecake, cold brew brownie, or something along those lines. I regret not trying one of them on this last visit instead of the Oreo. read more

After devouring dinner, we wanted something sweet afterwards and decided to stop at Bruster's on our way home! I had no idea that they released their Christmas ice cream flavors! They have a peppermint stick, peppermint Oreo, eggnog, and gingerbread man. I opted for a small cup with gingerbread man and peppermint Oreo. The gingerbread man was so delicious, as the gingerbread spice was throughout the entire ice cream and it had pieces of gingerbread cookie dough throughout, which was an amazing surprise! The peppermint Oreo was also delicious, as I am a sicker for anything containing peppermint and chocolate! I highly recommend getting both of these flavors, but I am definitely interested in trying the peppermint stick and egg nog flavors next time I'm here! read more

I'm excited to see a Bruster's in the city. We came on a week night, and it had such a good vibe. Kids and families were sitting outside enjoying their ice cream. I had the New York cheesecake and chocolate raspberry truffle cone. It was delicious. I kind of expected cheesecake bites in the scoop, but it was actually a cheesecake flavor with a little bit of crust. The chocolate raspberry was good, but maybe there was a bit too much truffles. I didn't quite enjoy having to chew and bite so much. There was ample parking and seating. We'll be back for sure! read more

I usually prefer to patronize locally owned establishments, but I'll make an exception for this franchise, where they mix their ice cream flavors fresh on location every day. We juuust managed to beat the mid-afternoon rush on a warm summer day. Careful driving through the one-way parking lot if the line gets long! The "small" cones are very generous, and the small 2-scoop cups are sufficient too. We tried the mint chocolate chip (so minty!), black cherry chocolate chunk, vanilla, and caramel apple (so aromatic I could smell it in the cone). I have been going to Brusters since I was a kid. I love their different flavors and creations. Recently, I tried their oat milk ice cream. I have a new favorite! It is softer than their dairy ice cream, but it still has a creamy, sweet taste. The Chocolate Raspberry Truffle was so good! So much raspberry filling and the perfect amount of chocolate pieces. Yea, I was rather disappointed. I ordered a turtle sundae and it was really a hot fudge cream sundae. What do I mean? When I first saw this thing, I was like: that's huge! It was really just tons of whipped cream, like an insane amount, like too much. Lots of chocolate syrup to go around and nearly not enough caramel which is part of what makes the "turtle" sundae. Lots of salty pecans though. I was excited to eat Bruster's ice cream again after so many years; that excitement has dissipated. read more

OMG this place is Ahhhhhsome, as they make an untraditional Banana Split which is out of this world, I've never had one so plentiful, well made and delicious. Rather than having the usual Chopped Nuts, I opted for the Pecans which were unbelievably plentiful. Their Banana Splits are excellent and well worth the price, I'll definitely be returning again soon! read more

We rushed to get here and arrived at exactly ten pm and were not served because they closed at ten. There were literally kids in front of us that they served but then said to us that they were now closed. If it had been after ten pm then I would have understood more but to turn people away who are there right at your closing time isn't putting the customer first and I will probably frequent one of the many other ice cream spots around from now on. read more

I've been excited about having a Bruster's back in the neighborhood since I saw the sign go up. I have been there a frankly embarrassing number of times since they opened and every time it has been wonderful. The ice cream is made fresh every day and you can really tell. It is creamy and delicious. The staff works hard to get the lines through as quickly as possible during rushes so we have never had to wait too long for our ice cream. They work hard to make sure you are satisfied with your order and are always pleasant and friendly. In addition to their dairy ice cream they also offer a few vegan ice creams, and a few Italian ices for those who are dairy free. We have a number of family members who are allergic to dairy and are grateful to have a single place we can go that makes everyone happy. We will definitely keep coming back. read more

I felt grateful to even be waited on after being ignored and having four different people be tended to before me, although I had been waiting patiently before them. The ice cream was average. What I ordered was a peanut butter cup sundae with fudge. I may have had two tablespoons of fudge against a lot of ice cream. I wasn't impressed. Staff is pretty rude any ice cream average. It just isn't worth it to be traded that poorly for mediocrity. read more

Pandemic and short staffing has been tough on the restaurant business. It can be frustrating to get subpar service compared to a just few years ago. But that isn't the case in my experience with Bruster's at Squirrel Hill. Employees have been some of the best I've seen and most importantly the quality of the ice cream is as good as before the pandemic. I'm happy! Ice cream is so good read more

I am already planning to order the peanut butter soft serve with warm fudge and a warm cookie after being inspired by their chocolate chip cookie sundae advertisement and will need to ask about what the strawberry shortcake situation is all about as well. For years, I watched the long lines outside and wondered what all the hype was about. Sometimes you don't get it until you "get it" - and now I get it. Fortunately for us, there was barely any line when we arrived even though it was a hot summer day. Even better, it's only about a one-hour walk from my house. The service was also fast and friendly and the employee who helped us was pleasant the whole time which added to the overall experience. I was especially impressed by the peanut butter soft serve. The flavor was rich and pronounced without compromising the smooth, creamy texture of the soft serve. It was everything I would want peanut butter soft serve ice cream to be. I was also surprised by how many soft-serve flavors they offer. Most places have only a few options, but there was plenty to choose from here. That said, it's hard for me to order anything other than the peanut butter soft serve now that I know how much I love it. One thing to know is that they do not offer free samples because the flavors are made to order. Something else to know is that the small sized cone held noticeably more ice cream than the small cup despite being the same price - so if you can I suggest the cone over the cup if you want more ice cream for the same price. I originally chose the cup because my hands weren't clean, but I later realized the cones come with a plastic protector around them anyway. All in all, this is one of those places that lives up to its reputation, and I highly recommend coming here if you are an ice cream aficionado.

Amazing flavors. My daughter got the croissant avocado toast which she loved. I also got a pistachio latte and was pleasantly surprised to see the used pistachio butter and not a syrup. It was lovely. I had to keep my child from drinking it all! While the wait was long, it was definitely worth it. The space is smaller than I imagined. The food came out fast for how packed it was. It's worth it!

While I waited in a slowly moving line of other customers to order from the bakery, I browsed the shelves in the market. I saw cheeses, bottled beverages such as wines, packaged foods such as grape leaves, and chocolates. I could not find price tags on all foods, so I recommend that those be added. I purchased three baked goods for a total of $15. I rate the croissticky as 5 stars, the cinnamon roll as 3.5 stars, and the raisin-oatmeal cookie as 4 stars.

My number 1 for hard ice cream for sure!! It's much creamier than Millie's or Cold Stone (and much better prices too). I usually get the raspberry chocolate truffle. The only thing I'd suggest is maybe the employees not wear their AirPods while waiting on customers... I don't know, it just doesn't give off the best customer service in my opinion. read more
