It's Monday, the week has started and I need a little pick me up tonight because the past few months have been hard for me. I don't know why, but I have always loved ice cream in the winter, but not the summer because Dairy and hot weather, for me, just don't mix well. This Illy Philly was in Robinson and saw Remember When Ice Cream and a little happiness started glowing inside me. I walked in to a well lit, and very large and open seating area. There were cute Ice Cream Cone measuring signs around the store, and it was really bright. I was greeted with a smile and a hello, and that made me smile a little more. I asked if they had vegan ice cream and lo and behold they did!!!!! It was Oatmilk vanilla and they also have Dole Whip!!! They told me the Whip always changes and this week it was Watermelon. Yummmm!!!! I ordered the Vegan Oatmilk Vanilla and the Watermelon Dole Whip, which she also let me taste first and both were absolutely delicous. I also ordered some regular Butter Pecan for my friend and it was really good. Creamy, buttery, and delicous. I Remember When Ice Cream tasted this good and obviously they do, too. If you're in Robinson go check them out. They're right across from Ikea and they're open till 9:30!!! I have been looking for a place that offers soft serve ice cream that was close by. I was so delighted to see vegan options on the menu. Pro tip: they give out samples so if you are like me and can't decide go this route. I tried samples of the oat milk soft serve and the dole whip. I ended up getting the "kiddy" size of the dole whip in a dish and it was amazing. Hubby got twist soft serve and he loved it. I will start this off by saying I am not anti-religion. I am not anti-Jesus, or anything of the lIke. However, when I take my family out for ice cream, I do not expect to feel more like I went to church than to an ice cream shop. I 100 percent respect that businesses can run their business and operate however they see fit. I wish this particular business would've represented itself more honestly on social media. I'm posting this in case someone else does not wish to have this experience, maybe they will see this and think twice. When we walked in the store, there was religious music playing, multiple signs promoting a church and other advertisements for Jesus. I thought the shirts hanging on the wall had the business logo, but in fact they had Jesus on them. We ordered or ice cream and sat down to multiple pamphlets and advertisements for church on our table. In addition, we were given a code on our receipt and instructions for how to use the bathroom. And also told not to share the code with any non-customers for "our safety". That was weird in and of itself. I would rate the ice cream itself not a great value, but not too bad. It's definitely not the cheapest ice cream in Pittsburgh as they advertise. The flavor was good, and my kids did like their ice cream. There was a good variety of items from which to select. Our order consisted of one small blizzard type item, a medium cone with 1 topping and two small cones with dip. The portions were generous. New location-new review. Remember When Ice cream has now reopened at Robinson Towne center and will be open throughout the entire year. They now offer indoor seating if you wish to consume your sweet treat on site. They retained the large portions from their former roadside stand and prices are based accordingly. You can still sample their offerings before purchasing. They make their own ice cream in house. Currently however, they are not making hard ice cream but hope to have that resolved in a couple of weeks. Ice cream sizes range from kiddie then small to large so plan accordingly. They also offer pup size portions for your pet that consists of vanilla soft serve and a dog treat. Also they offer oatmilk based soft served if you are vegan or not consuming dairy. Your standard ice cream choices are here which include banana splits, Sundaes, and parfaits. On this particular visit I was interested in the Dole whip. The Dole whip is a non dairy option that isn't quite as filling as regular ice cream and serves a perfect treat if you don't want too much. I learned from Mike the counter helper that you cannot choose which flavor you want since they rotate them weekly and you must go with that week's flavor. During my visit that flavor happened to be strawberry. After tasting it I decided to go with the strawberry and was asked if I wanted any toppings. You can choose anything from jimmies to nuts or candy, or their Remember when blend which is a mixture of everything. I went with that and when I received it for a kiddie portion it looked generous and the topping was all over it. Indeed it was very good and very filling. They have their rewards program online with every dollar counting towards a reward. Once you reach $50.00 then you receive $5.00 off. As I was registering my account and entering my receipt I noticed that I was charged $.75 for the topping. I don't have a problem with that except the toppings listed on the menu don't state that they are extra. I went back and gave them my suggestion because it is easy to think that they are included when nothing is noted on it. I learned that same thing is true with the Sundae toppings. Only the first Sundae topping comes with your purchase, any others are charged an additional fee. It's great to have an ice cream shop out in the west suburbs where there is a lack of good places to go. Being able to eat indoors is also a plus. Hopefully when I come back they will have their hard ice cream ready. Located in Robinson Towne center there is plenty of parking throughout. read more

My wife had a turtle sundae, that was large, and delicious. Should of asked for a kid size or a small. I got a small soft serve twist. The soft serve was so creamy, and delicious. Much better that DQ soft serve. And the small seemed mor like a medium anywhere else. Now in saying this, your gonna pay for quality, which is fine when you get quality. And the staff, I think it was the owner, was very helpful and polite. We ll definitely go again. Try it. Its worth it. And the Christian radio station in the background was great also. read more

Well eating there is definitely an experience. If I was rating the food, 5 stars. Delicious soft serve and hand scooped. Absolutely massive menu. If I was rating the atmosphere, lowest stars possible. This place is churchier than an actual church. From my seat I saw 5 signs saying they are closed on Sundays because of their lord and savor. They have a worship room. There is homemade jesus shirts on the wall. Jesus music is BLASTING. I mean I am not exaggerating here when I say this place is a church that sells ice cream. Not impressed! Ice cream tasted like it was made from sugar water instead of dairy. I noticed there was an ample amount about the owners personal history here. Usually that is a sign of overcompensating for a bad product. Certainly seems to be the case here. Too many business now a days trying to sell nostalgia with crappy commercial products. There food is beyond expensive for getting barely any ice cream in a bowl the give 2 small scoops for an outrageous price. I will never eat here again they don't give a good amount of topping or anything it is a very gross place to eat. And after I made this post the owner came out and walked up to my fiancé and I in a very rude manner and asked us to better themselves and we said it was a conversation my fiancé and I were having that they shouldn't have rudely walked up to us and interrupted our conversation without saying excuse me first. I love this family friendly and great quality ice cream shop! I have been working my way through their many homemade hard ice creams. The "Peach Cobbler" is like it came right from my grandma's kitchen. The "Death by Chocolate", well no need to explain. Very fresh flavors and no fake tastes. I have had the soft serve as well. It is a creamy soft serve, not ice milk and is so satisfying. The place is bright and clean (I love the hot pink). The mother and son owners support the military and police, since they are veterans of each. They even have a party room so you can get some of your friends together for an ice cream party! This is a cute ice cream little place. If you blink you will miss it.. its small but still good. There's always parking on the street - easy in and out. I only stop when there isn't a line because sometimes the wait is a little too long for me. Browsing the menu - nothing seemed to jump out at me just the typical options. I went with a medium sundae - nuts - hot fudge and bananas. It was $5.50. I was a bit surprised it was over $5.00. It wasn't huge or anything but not small either. It was just a typical ice cream sundae. Its all the convenience you pay for. You can get a tub of ice cream or $5.00. On a hot day - ice cream sure hits the spot. I am grateful for this establishment existence because its the closest one to me but feel the prices could be a little bit more average. This ice cream shop was located near a store that I was visiting, so I, of course, decided to stop in for ice cream... For several minutes, I stood in line, and I had no idea what products were sold. I think that the store should put a large menu on the wall. Once I reached the cash register, I saw that paper menus were available, but I was not ready to order yet and had to step aside. The menu lists hand-made hard ice creams, soft-serve ice creams, frozen yogurts, dole whips (which are non-dairy), oat milk-based soft-serves, banana splits, sundaes, chills (which are soft-serve ice cream mixed with add-ins), parfaits, milkshakes, floats, slushes, ice balls (which are flaked ice with flavoring), and dog treats. I ordered one scoop of black cherry ice cream, and the employee served me a different flavor--black raspberry--in two scoops. The cashier had typed the wrong flavor into her computer and charged me for it. I did not say anything and just ate the incorrect ice cream. That flavor would have been my second choice and did taste good. My husband ordered hard ice cream in the banana cream pie flavor, and it was extremely delicious! Don't eat here if you love our military and this country. Walked in to a miserable and rude staff. My husband asked if they give a military discount upon checkout, which they claim to give. He had his federally issued PA drivers license with the his veteran icon only given to vets. Older woman denied him a potential nominal discount, stating it wasn't "good enough". Then proceeded to further humiliate him by calling over the manager and in front of other customers calling his service to our country into question. I guess you need your DD214 and Purple Heart to save 0.30 cents here. Rita's, Cold Stone, Scoops, and Bruesters all within a mile of this garbage place. Please give your money to those that respect our military. In response to the overly verbose, inaccurate, and very defensive response by the manager. I would have to say the comment about trying to "trick" staff into believing some one about a military status says it all. I was present and in the entrance when this occurred and my jaw was on the floor. Maybe you missed this while losing a customer. To be given or not given a discount was not the issue. It was the questioning of some one's service in front of others. The ID he presented to you was good enough for Deihl automotive to save him over $1000 off a vehicle. Somehow not good enough for respect from fellow military. "I Remember When" fellow military gave each other the respect they deserve. He is retired although I'm quite unsure why retirees deserve more respect than active duty??? For this who live in Robinson area. Many reputable businesses give military discounts(most don't even ask for your ID because who would lie about that!) are a available such as Central Diner, Downey House, Mission BBQ. Even Lowe's although you have to register and YES the PA ID with military signification is enough for them ! My family makes an event out of going to Remember When to see Doo-wop Dan on Saturday nights during the summer. I usually go for the small cone, which is comparable to most other ice cream place's large. The large cone is so large that is doesn't fit out of the window, they have to bring it out the side door! The ice cream is good, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere (almost) makes you forget you are in Windgap. Since I was a kid, I would always go to remember when multiple times in the summer and always order a flurry with chocolate ice cream and cookie dough.
