I had some extra time before work so I decided to pop in here and grab a coffee. First thing I noticed is how cute the store is- very clean and neat with a bunch of cool food and snack products. The coffee menu is so unique- and the names are awesome! I got an "oh, miso honey" iced coffee at the recommendation of the barista and it is soooo good, I've never had a coffee with this type of flavor! They have non-dairy milk alternatives as well which is awesome, el the y even had oat milk which is my favorite and not a lot of places have it! The set up was great, service was fast and friendly, and the coffee was amazing. Love how cute this place is. The decor is so great: whimsical paintings of animals in human clothing, geometric designs, deep wood furniture, and bright open windows and doors. The menu is fun with lots of options like hash, eggs Benedict, yoghurt, and flappy cakes. And, on weekends they have a mimosa and Bloody Mary bar. We ordered the BJ Crab Cake Benedict, the Green Chilie Verde and a half order of the flappy cakes. The food took a very long time to arrive. 45 mins from the time of ordering. So the coffee and food here is very good. The espresso drinks are creative and tasty. Our group had the Eggs Benedict, Veggie Hash and the Chile Verde y Papas. Everything tasted good and full of flavor. The Chile Verde was a tad salty, but really good. My only issue with this place was the service. The service was SO SLOW. Coming in at the end of a rush, we were 1 of 3 tables that had just ordered. After we ordered, it took almost 30 minutes for us to get out food. Def made it into my Seattle brunch rotation that's not on the hill. The place has a cute waiting lounge and really interesting coffee options. New fav...the egg coffee! I love the vibe of this cafe...the ambience, furniture and decor makes it comfortable and down to earth. This is a great addition to to the Georgetown area. It's not very big sooo maybe try coming earlier in the morning. Favorite things about this place: decor, coffee! And overall friendliness of staff. I would totally come back to get coffee to go. Their selection of hard-to-find culinary goods is vast and plentiful; I purchased a jar of local Thai curry that I had read about and seen on Instagram and was also tempted to buy many other beautiful and tasty things! However, the coffee and breakfast croissant I purchased were just mediocre. The latte, which was inspired by a horchata, was overwhelmingly sweet, and I couldn't even taste the caffeine. Came here for weekend brunch and it was fine, but I DO NOT recommend the mimosa/bloody mary bar. That thing is crawling with germs. Hygiene issues first, then food: While we were waiting for a table and while we ate, we saw multiple occasions where people walked up to the mimosa/bloody Mary table and grabbed fruit or pickled veggies or bacon with *bare hands.* Due to the lack of implements for picking things up, everyone seemed to think it was okay to spread germs, and the staff who were walking around said nothing. One woman would lick her fingers and then grab more stuff. At some point someone dropped the lid for the fruit juice on the floor, and they picked it up and recapped the juice. I've studied microbiology. The five second rule ain't a thing. As for the food, the brisket hash and the chili verde were fine. Nothing to write home about. There was absolutely no attempt at plating, and portions were small. I normally don't complain about portion sizes, but even I was surprised. That said, the food wasn't bad. To ownership.... please update your hours to accurately reflect when customers are allowed to come as this type of misinformation does not benefit customers or the business. Looked at their website and it says open until 3pm. Also checked Yelp and google which both also said open until 3pm. Arrived a little after two.... - door was locked but people and staff inside. - We knock on door and the waitress finally acknowledged us with a look that clearly said we were bothering her. - She come to the door and said they are closed. I said website says 3pm. She says kitchen closes at 2pm. - we were not offered to come in and at the very least enjoy the cafe section envelopes though she said that was open until 3. - when we walked away two more customers tried to enter but same result. My friend got the oh miso honey and liked it but I got a special concoction per barista's suggestion and didn't like it at all. The decor is eccentric- filled with rhino heads and pics of animals dressed up. The BJ crab cake bene was to die for. I've never had a deep fried crab cake eggs bene! Great food and coffee. We used to visit the owners former restaurant Duos. We were excited to see a new spot open. The fluffy cakes were awesome, and I don't always love the sweet side of breakfast. They are almost as if a pancake, a moist muffin and cupcake had a child, all without being too sweet. A consistency that leans more airy than a traditional pancake. And the cream that is on it, wow. It's a cinnamon toast type cream-again not too sweet which is perfect. It's smooth a velvety. I wanted some just to put in my coffee or eat by the spoonful. Hush puppies were amazing. They reminded me of the corn dogs Duos used to do so well. The breading was perfectly crispy, not soggy. The sauce was a nice balance between sweet and salty. My only change would be the fried chicken. It is ground chicken formed into a round ball and fried, seemingly all dark meat. Personally I'm just not a big fan of ground chicken that's fried-- I'd prefer a chicken tender or something like that in its place. Boyfriend and I visited on a Sunday morning at around 11:15 am for some brunch. Luckily, there is also a cafe here so we tried the Egg Coffee and Oh Miso Honey latte while we waited. The egg and condensed milk foam on top was sweet, thick, and well done- reminiscent of real vietnamese egg coffees. However, the coffee on the bottom tasted watered down and acidic. My Oh Miso Honey latte was on the bland side- no real miso flavor for the intrepid who were hoping for something more salted and savory, and no real honey flavor. We were seated at a table by around 11:50 am and ordered within a few minutes, but the food didn't come to our table until close to 12:30 pm. A ridiculous wait time, one echoed by all the tables around us. The food was the saving grace of our experience here. My brisket hash was lovely- tender, melting pieces of brisket offset by crispy potatoes and deep flavor. The boyfriend polished off his chili verde in about 2 minutes and pronounced it similarly excellent. We chose this place for their location outside of seattle, figuring we'd save some time from the brunch rush. We would've done better at a busier restaurant which would likely have been more efficient. The hostess was harried and about two shades away from unfriendly. Staff set the mood for the restaurant-- they clearly need more waitstaff here. Our efficient, smiling and bustling waitress with a buzz cut and glasses was the one bright spot here, and the tiny restaurant likely needed 2 more of her to help manage the crowd, seat people, take food, etc. They seemed incredibly frazzled and disorganized the day we visited. TL;DR: Took an hour to get food after a 45 minute table wait. Food was mediocre and wait staff never apologized for the delay. This place needs to get their service flow together. Put my name down at 12:30 and came back at 1:15 because I was told it would be a 45 minute way. Upon check in, the hostess told us to wait in their lounge. Few minutes later, I get a call from the same hostess asking where I was and saying "I've been calling your name". Well, we were right where you told us to be - in the waiting lounge. The hostess realized her mistake and told us to wait some more because, despite the phone call, our table still wasn't ready. Fine, not a big deal, mistakes happen. What I cannot accept is nearly an hour long wait for food. We sat down at 1:20ish and food finally arrived at 2:10. When I asked the waitress about our food, she 1) never apologized and 2) said they were short staffed and that "everyone came at once". By the time our food finally arrived, the restaurant pretty much cleared out. Food wise, everything was mediocre. -The veggie hash were pretty small plates and unfulfilling. -The grilled cheese ratio was way off and too bready; the cheese layer was too thin relative to the thick bread. -The fluffy cakes, although pretty, was crumbly and not soft. -The chili verde was missing sauce; chili verde should usually come with a nice heaping green chili and this plate was lacking. It is noteworthy that the wait staff was quick to give us our bill while we were still eating... that was the only thing they were timely on. One thing made me reduce my review by one star: The young female greeter, after showing 2 couples in front of me to their seats, walked up to me and said "can I help you?"...and I was like: "I'd like to dine here for breakfast", with a quizzical look on my face because she didn't say that to them or to any other people that came after me. I had been to Georgetown once back in March and had ate at another restaurant! I wanted to head back to the area but try something new. Found this place through this app and it looked great. My boyfriend and I went in around 10 am a couple of days ago and were promptly greeted by a woman behind the coffee bar and were seated right away. Our server then came and we ordered two cappuccinos and those alone were delicious. She also gave us recommendations from the menu and she sold me on the Kalua Pork dish! It originally came with rice but I was told that they had ran out after placing the order and I went with potatoes instead which was honestly tasted amazing with the meat (in case you were wanting to try a substitute). Our server was so chill and had great service and checked up on us periodically! My bf ordered the basic! Both meals were great portion sizes for a good price! One of the keys to a self-serve bar is the trade off - we'll do the labor, but you gotta keep it clean and well stocked, not ignored. Biscuits are disappointing, showing signs of overworked and hot worked dough. A side note: certain dishes are really known for a technique or texture; if I call something a 'risotto' you would expect a short grain rice cooked to release starch in a creamy sauce. If something is called a 'cassoulet' you expect it to have beans and some sort of sausage in it. Serving a "Loco Moco" with no gravy whatsoever causes one to question whether anyone in the enterprise has ever seen an actual Hawaiian Loco Moco in real life. Do yourself a favor and order a side of their sausage gravy and pour it over the dish, with liberal black pepper. Aside from the food and bar issues, the servers all gave off the vibe like they were coming off a hell of a night and couldn't be bothered with customers today, so go on a Saturday morning, not a Sunday. We sat down, it was a buffet style for Mother's Day, which we were fine with. We got up to get food. Read reviews the food is AMAZING here and honestly the buffet food was the opposite. The food that was out was cold, there was nothing heating any of it to keep the food warm. What food they did have, they didn't really re-stock it, even though they had more people with reservations coming in, and they didn't have many options for a Mother's Day brunch. The buffet was $35/person and I did end up spending close to $100 on TWO people. NOT worth it at all. The staff was the worst part of everything though. They were rude when we first walked in, when we were finally seated, and even our "waitress" who really only talked to use TWICE during the entire meal was rude. The portions are great for the price point. I ordered the short rib hash and was expecting more potatoes then short rib.
