Stopped in on a very busy January sunny Saturday morning- it was actually a little warm out. The staff was very busy and politely managing coffee and food orders. We kept it simple cause we were headed to the park to walk our old dog. Their burritos are so good - went with the vegan chorizo style breakfast burritos and a couple drip coffees. I also love their sandwiches and avocado toast but burritos are the perfect vessel for on the go eatin! I don't normally do a food photo with a bite taken out of it but here we goooooo. Cute little hole-in-the-wall vegan coffeeshop with good food. I had the breakfast sandwich and Pumpkin Spice Latte. I took it to nearby Seward Park to enjoy. Both were good -- the breakfast sammie was filling and the Pumpkin Spice Latte was just the right mix of coffee, milk, and spices. (I don't love it when the spice flavour overpowers the coffee flavour, like a lot of places, and that was definitely not the case here). Staff was courteous though a little distant. Parking was a bit difficult but not too crazy...but they are right outside the Othello light rail station so that's probably a much easier way to get there. I also appreciated that Cafe Red takes a stand in important social issues. Would definitely go back. read more

I've eaten here so many times and love the selections. Every sandwhich is really crafted with care, portions are huge, and the flavor profile with the pesto is delicous. I also love the crunch on the bread. It's great seeing the diverse community of the South End supporting vegetarian breakfast fare. Service is stellar and the coffee is really good. The ambiance is cozy and warm and I could picture myself stranded here in a snow storm if I needed to before hopping on the light rail. The owner is extremely nice and the reward program is such a nice incentive to building community and providing discounts. The food is good and it's a cool vegan place run by nice people. But, if you have any chance to make it here on a Wednesday night between 7 and 10 in the summer, do it! I have actually went back to this place several times to order different things off the menu and I can say it is a vegan location. The avocado toast with bacon was greatly seasoned. The sandwiches are pure tasteful. The customer service is quick fast and friendly Has room for dining inside. It's a welcoming space parking could be a challenge but overall great food. read more

I came in at 12:15 on Friday afternoon for lunch. My stay was short and sweet (and savory). I ordered the Bacon Burrito and their seasonal drink, a Raspberry Matcha latte. I love their breakfast burritos-this one actually does not have any bacon in it (Cafe Red is all vegan), but they make it so well. It is so warm and filling, and I love their salsa and sauce that came with it! Their Raspberry Matcha latte is something I hope will stay on their menu full time. It was perfectly balanced, and it wasn't too sweet. It was easy to tell that it tasted like raspberry without it tasting artificial. They absolutely nailed this drink. I love Cafe Red! They are right outside the Othello light rail station. They are easy to get to and their service is excellent. They also have a cool mural on one of their bathroom walls. Shop is small, so there is limited seating and can get quite loud. Parking isn't challenging, recommend parking a street over because there isn't a lot in front of the cafe. Service is very friendly and helpful. I came mostly for the avocado hashbrown and Haley's comet (coconut, walnut, cranberry energy ball). I ended up also getting the seasonal raspberry matcha. The matcha was good but needed a touch more raspberry since it was super subtle. The nut ball was a little too sweet for me and the avocado hashbrown was super salty, it did have a great crunch. read more

This gem of a cafe was perfectly in between SEATAC and our Air BnB. We were just trying to find something along the way to our air bnb to grab a bite, and it turned out it was also vegan! (Yay for me!) This adorable bungalow cafe has all a person could crave for breakfast. I went with a breakfast English muffin w/sausage, egg, cheese. The bf went with the breakfast burrito. Together, we shared the avocado hash browns and each got a coffee drink. You read that right- AVOCADO HASH BROWNS!!! Think avocado toast but put with hash browns. I never knew I needed this in my life and now I can't imagine my life without it! The service here was super friendly. The cashier was helpful in answering our/my questions and definitely shared my enthusiasm over the fact that this cafe happened to be vegan, when I wandered here solely based on how it was just on the way to our next destination. The outdoor patio area was very cute but goodness was it HOT in the sun. It was nevertheless a little hideaway from the street and felt cozy yet open. I wish this cafe was nearby because I'd be a regular here for sure. One last thing to add, I discovered Stroop Club! In additional to Untapped Maple Stroop Waffles, there is a new plant-based waffle on the market! I bought one of each flavor and loved them all! What a great cafe! It's only my second visit here since I'm very rarely in the Othello area, but I had some extra time before heading to the Ms game today so I wanted to stop by. I love supporting vegan businesses. Parking can be a bit challenging in this area, but if you take light rail, it couldn't be easier since it's located right next to the Othello station. I ordered an oatnilla latte, this time with pistachio. I don't know what it is about these, I order a lot of iced oat vanilla lattes, but there's is really outstanding. SO delicious. The potato patty with avocado was tasty (how can you go wrong with fried potato and avocado) and the pesto sandwich was delish too. The staff were delightful, welcoming and kind and they have created a very cute and inviting outdoor patio space, perfect for a sunny spring day like today. The salsa was excellent and the orange/brown (chipotle?) sauce was yummy. The bacon burrito didn't taste much like bacon. Similarly the chorizo burrito didn't taste like chorizo. There didn't seem to be much scrambled egg in there either. Later I thought that maybe they were vegan. But the menu didn't mention that so I had assumed they were normal meat and egg items. We had the drip coffee which the barista said was light roast Colombian. It flat out tasted bad and for us was undrinkable. Not only was the taste sour with a bitter aftertaste, it had some weird funky flavor that we couldn't put our finger on. The provided cream also didn't mix very well in the coffee that sort of beaded on the surface of the coffee. Maybe they provided some sort of plant-based creamer? In any case, the cream pitcher had no label. Another review said there was ample seating inside and out. I didn't see any outside seating. All indoor seating is on metal stools or chairs up against a "bar" but no tables where you could sit and relax with a friend face to face. Update: Now that I know that the burritos were vegan, the burritos were excellent for vegan. Later I looked at another reviewer's picture of the menu and spotted the all vegan ribbon banner on the upper right corner. I hadn't seen that earlier. read more

Awesome coffee shop to check out that offers both great coffee and good bites. They have plenty of seating inside and outside. I ordered their cannella mocha, and honestly it was delicious. I ordered their avocado hash brown which did not disappoint. I also ordered a side of tater tots with chipotle aioli, a perfect combo. always have a great experience coming into cafe red as the workers are so friendly and work quickly even if it's very busy! i started going more consistently this past year and its been great especially in the summer when you can enjoy their back patio :) i usually get their matcha which is so nice as its been hard to find a good one in seattle!! i have yet to order food but do want to try in the future read more

We stopped by for a weekend breakfast and really enjoyed both the chorizo and bacon burritos. The salsa and other creamy dipping sauce were especially flavorful. I would definitely stop by again and also recommend the oatnilla (particularly the canella flavor). I have cold brew + oatmilk pretty often at home, but this was way better than what I am able to usually make for myself. Follow-up... the owner wrote back to me today, questioning whether we found a napkin or not. We literally showed your staff the moment we found it. The staff barely said sorry because they were so shocked themselves to see the napkin in the sandwich. The manager should have offered a refund and remade the sandwich on the spot. On the day my friend and I were there, we found a napkin in our sandwich. They said it was left in from drying the produce - not a good excuse. The reason the experience was even worse was that when we asked for extra sauce for the sandwich they had to remake, the staff charged us for that too - after we found a napkin in the previous sandwich. Come on. The food is GOOD! But again, the service sucked. You only offered a voucher later in our meal. You probably did that so I would not write a review. And NO - YOU'RE DISHONEST. You didn't refund us or offer for that matter. If you did refund us, I'm not aware of it . Just do better with your customer service - it's simple! We are paying high prices, so customers deserve good service and should not find meat, or napkins in their food at your vegan cafe . Thanks! read more

3.5 stars! This is an all vegan cafe now! Cute place by the Othello light rail stop that i have been wanting to try! Stuff tried: Mini sambusa: filled with seasoned lentils. Quite good! Like portable lentil soup in spring roll form! Breakfast sandwich with sausage: the house made vegan egg on this is pretty convincing and the sausage patty is good! Mac and cheese: smokey crumbles adds a nice note to this! I can never resist mac and cheese on a menu.. Tomato basil soup: has sort of a gingery tang to it? I liked it but thought maybe i got the tumeric ginger soup by accident Chikn nuggets: same as you would get in the freezer aisle at the grocery. Maybe not the first thing i would recommend. Hashbrowns: i am a sucker for almost any hashbrowns. These are sort of in the shape of Mcdonald's hasbrowns are equally as addictive Chocolate peanut butter ball: this is a big nugget of flavor that would be perfect on a hike or maybe a nice post lunch sweet. The place has a very nice community feel. The outside area has a cozy gas fire so you can sit and stay warm when its chilly. read more

This spot has turned into my favorite cafe. I don't think I've had better service or cold brew any where else. Their Oatnilla cold brew latte is DELICIOUS. Considering buying their beans and house made vanilla syrup to make it at home, but doubt it would be as good. I've tried a couple of their food options. The pesto breakfast sandwich is a perfect combo for a cold drink. And the veggie burrito is super filling, the two salsas it came with were perfect as well. It's a perfect little spot to get some work done too. Fast wifi, comfy seating, love the art on the wall, bathrooms are always clean. I also got two drinks which I enjoyed. The service was slow ish because there was only one worker which is understandable. It was also pretty busy. I wish I knew about this place sooner. All the food was incredible. The gluten free pesto sandwich was one of the best sandwiches (vegan or not) I have ever had. The texture of the fake egg and the bursting flavors of pesto and cherry peppers, it was perfection. We also tried the mac and cheez, which was so creamy and nutty, and the no bones air fried artichokes, also amazing. Adding along an ice cold chagacino (oat milk latte with chaga mushroom) and a cinnamon vanilla latte on their awesome covered and roomy patio, it was a perfect start to a day (albeit and incredibly full start). You know how when you enter some place and feel right at home. That's how I felt when I entered this neighborhood cafe. I have been wanting to check this place out for awhile, just off of the Othello Light Rail station. I live in Ballard but visit my dad often on the weekends in the Rainier Valley neighbored. I mostly. came to see a friend's art exhibit that was being displayed till the end of August but it gave me a great excuse to check it out. Love the various non dairy options. I usually go with hemp but will do oat milk when I'm curious to see the art latte my first time. The person at the counter was very friendly and I noticed Salmonberry Goods pastries being sold there which made me feel right at home even though I didn't get anything to eat. Near work I often go to Convoy Coffee and in Ballard my first stop at the farmers market is Salmonberry. Alex and David do great things and I know any shop their connected is rated well by them. Sat a while reading my book after taking some shots of my friends art. Watched the interaction of I'n thinking the owner with regular customers. Genuine and heartfelt would definitely return. read more

The person who took our order was so welcoming, friendly and patient! It is so hard to find good customer service- so when we do I try really hard to let them know how much we appreciate it. When you have good people working, it's so much easier to spend more trying everything! We had the hash browns, sausage and egg sandwich, breakfast burrito, avocado toast, chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies. My son (who thinks he doesn't like most vegan food) thought he was eating a traditional sausage and egg sandwich. Seriously.... DELICIOUS! The avocado toast's bread was so crisp and airy, loved it! I'm embarrassed to admit I have only gotten coffee at Cafe Red--until today! I noticed they are doing some really great (and generously portioned!) Restaurant Week deals running the entire MONTH of April. 20 bucks gets you a sandwich, an avocado topped hash brown, a wrap, and their special oatmilk latte! All of their offerings are vegan, and many have a GF option as well. I was eyeing their pastry case when I picked up my order--I'll have to try those next. I chose the pesto sandwich and chorizo wrap, added on an iced Americano and regular hash brown and fed myself and a pal for only 33 and change after tip! We split both the wrap and sandwich, and I honestly cannot decide which was my favorite. They're both very tasty and I didn't miss meat or flavor at all. If I had to choose, I'd go sandwich because there were more veggies/components, so I feel like bang for your buck is slightly better there. I'm looking forward to trying more varieties of these, too! Ordering online for curbside our counter pick up was really easy with the app they partner with. Very pleased with every aspect of the meal, ordering, and service. read more
