Bright Spot is a truly bright spot in the Seattle community, serving the local community in so many ways beyond coffee. They serve delicious local coffee and tea as well as local pastries (from both Macrina and some baked in house), as well as breakfast sandwiches, focaccia, and also vegan soft serve made with oat milk. The soft serve has rotating weekly flavors, and I was lucky to try to orange creamsicle, which was delicious swirled with classic vanilla. I even got some sprinkles with it! For coffee, they have all the classics as well as some seasonal specials with in-house made syrups. Everything we ordered was delicious that we actually ended up getting 2 lattes while we were there. Apart from the food and drinks, they also have a plethora of local artwork for sale, paintings displayed on the walls, glasswork and ceramics at the windows, and tie dyed shirts made by the owner himself, plus more. They also sell pokemon cards and run an actual Play! Pokemon league. It runs every Saturday from noon to 4 PM and is run by the owner himself. It's a great place for both newbies and kids trying to get into pokemon and seasoned veterans alike. You even get discounted coffee during the pokemon session! The owner himself is a very personable guy and is very knowledgeable all about his products, and is always happy to chat about coffee, art, or Pokemon. There's a clean maintained bathroom in the back of the cafe and self-pour water stations to make your stay enjoyable. They have wifi and comfy seating, outlets, and even couches, which makes it perfect for coworking or just hanging out. Catch me there every Saturday with my pokemon cards! read more

Bright Spot lives up to its name. This little Mt. Baker gem is exactly what a neighborhood café should be -- welcoming, unpretentious, and genuinely good at what it does. I came to this place to give them a try since it was close to my church and it's safe to say that this will be the last time I will go to get coffee. Don't get me wrong, the place looks cool and all bright but I feel it's tailored more to kids than adults. I haven't tried the ice creams but something tells me that they make a better ice cream than latte because the latte I make at my house is way better. I forgot to mention, that this is the most overpriced latte, I wouldn't mind if it was good but I felt robbed, $7.15 without the tip, I have never seen a 16ounce latte cost this much in seattle. read more

If you're looking for somewhere to escape the cloudy rainy weather, Bright Spot is the place for you. After walking in, you enter into a colorful space with rainbow colors on the wall, a small shop section on the left for misc goods, and plenty of seating for hanging out or getting work done. Every time I've been here, the baristas are nice and friendly. I usually change up my drink order but so far, everything's been on point. Colorful. Bright. Childish. What I would recommend this place for is ice cream and basic coffee orders. This is the kind of place to take the kids and then go for a walk with your ice cream/coffee. What I wouldn't recommend is trying to do work here, there are limited plugs or they are in inconvenient places. Inside decor is very colorful with bright lighting, and the local art work displayed was actually one of my favorites I've seen. This cafe caters to the younger crew and doesn't radiate a mature vibe. Menu is a little pricey, but everything comes out fast. When you ask for a splash they let you self serve which was great. Baristas are kind. Didn't have anything that I feel like I need to come back for. read more

This was one of the most interesting and innovative breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. It is made on a ciabatta roll with harissa mayo, cheese, egg, arugula, and bacon. The egg is the most interesting part. My guess is that they beat the eggs, strain them to create a uniform consistency, and then bake a batch at low heat in an oven. They are cut into rectangles before being place onto the sandwich. The rectangle appears to be firm, but the texture is actually quite delicate and custardy. It is unlike anything I've ever had before. Highly recommend trying this sandwich. The service is friendly and quick, especially considering only two people were working while I was there. The ambiance and decor, however, is very interesting. It is clear that they're trying to make it look like a "bright spot" with a lot of colorful artwork and furniture, but a lot of it doesn't really together. Overall, I really hope this place succeeds, as what I've had of their food is delicious and that's all that really matters. read more

My cousin and I were headed to the Seattle Japanese Garden last Saturday but were looking for a coffee shop to hang out for a bit first. I wanted to find something on the way from my dad's in Rainier Valley. When I did. google search this cute shop popped up and we decided to give it a try. So glad we did! Such a cute shop we got here about 10:30 wasn't too busy. But I can see this is definitely a neighborhood spot for families. It is exactly a bright spot! Not only it's aesthetic but it staff and what they offer. They've been open since January I believe. The staff is friendly and helpful. And as soon as we walked around the corner on the outside we knew it was going to be a great spot such cute neon signs. The cloud light fixtures above the kitchen area that change colors, mural multi pastel color tables. It's a fairly large space lots of seating. They just happen to have one of my favorite local artists exhibiting Josephine Rice. We opted to share a couple pastries I like that they offer to heat them up for you. I also love that they have hemp as an alternative milk not every does or can do latte art with it. Definitely want to try their breakfast sandwiches next time. They make their cookies and vegan soft serve and make ice cream sandwiches out of them. They also carry a variety of retail items a great stop for someone looking for a small gift for a friend or last minute birthday gift for a child's birthday party. Having lived in Seattle for 24 years (with 20 of them being near the Mt. Baker area) ... I've seen my share of coffee shops and I like different vibes in different neighborhoods for different moods. That's the beauty of our coffee scene. BUT.... Bright Spot feels like so much more than a coffee shop. I literally felt my serotonin spike when I walked in with the soothing pastel palette, whimsical artwork, velvet couches, ice cream cone sculptures and unicorns. It's not "kitschy" tho as it has an intentional and playful feel that vacillates between a dreamy ice cream parlor, princess birthday party, art gallery and a Palm Springs Deco daytime lounge that would seem to be as fun for kids as it is for "grown ups" . How they made it feel sunny in there when it's January 8th and we are in the depths of the dark days, I'm not sure... but they did! I loved my Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte and the egg sandwich with muhammara, labneh and arugula on a super soft roll and served by a very sweet human named Persephone! Before leaving, I checked out all of the fun items they had for sale in the retail area (really cool wrapping paper, gift tags, cards, waffle cones, party hats etc) I'm super excited for this new (to me) spot and wish them all the success! I got a matcha latte and my sister got a chai latte, both were delicious! The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and the decor was very cute. Loved the bright colors and cute products to buy like dog treats, pins and wall hangings. Ok so my only issue was the mushrooms on the sandwiches, and I love mushrooms of all kinds all sorts of ways. The bread, arugula and spread were perfect, but the mushrooms were just too big I think or not cooked enough maybe? They were a bit chewy. I really wanted to like it but I was just so off put by the mushrooms. The bacon was also undercooked and a bit fatty, so skip adding that. I need to try just the egg and maybe that would be better. The food is good. The service is fast but for my daughter and her friend's hot chocolate took about 20 minutes to make with no line and I recommend the food but not the wait. The soft serve ice cream is good but they change the flavors often but has kept staying the same and I have people in my family who do not like chocolate and blueberry the are allergic to both and some of the tables are mostly clean so it is hard finding a clean table. Mostly rating on the vegan soft serve, the ambiance, staff friendliness, and all the little things for sale in the shop. This place is adorable and the staff is so friendly. I go every week or two to get a cup of soft serve, which is vegan and gluten free (ask in case anything changes, but atm I believe the base is Oatly, which is gluten free in the US). It's hard to find fun desserts with food allergies and even though they only have 2 or 3 at a time, these flavors are a big win. I really liked the blood orange and the blueberry especially. Staff also remade my huckleberry lemonade when I dropped it on my foot trying to get out the door when I was having a bad day and they are so friendly. I got a Beyoncé themed affogato (love on top, it had chili and cinnamon on chocolate soft serve) and it was amazing, keep the chili cinnamon for mochas in the winter please! The decor is basically rainbows and unicorns and I can't imagine anything cuter. Ideally I would love some more gluten free food options like a breakfast sammy but I know that's hard to keep safe in a small shared kitchen. But maybe packaged gluten free cookies to dip in the coffee? Nuflours brownies or something? Despite looking like an IG-forward spot, this place was high quality in food/service! I also just adore this entire corner block of Mt Baker businesses. It wasn't too busy on a Saturday morning, which surprised me. There's a good amount of seating (though not comfortable for hours of coffee shop squatting). Very family friendly spot. Bright Spot has a nice selection of coffee and tea drinks, and gourmet-level sandwiches and deserts. I can definitely recommend the egg sandwich with bacon. it comes delightfully seasoned, with a bed of fresh arugula under the toasted bun. My only regret is that I didn't have my 4-year-old mermaid/princess/fairy grand-daughter along on my last visit, because I know that she'd love the unicorn and rainbow decor.
