This restaurant seems to cater to a very specific demographic. Not sure what that demographic is since I did not see a lot of college kids there. The decor is kitschy , fun and somewhat cool. They turned the entire restaurant into a simulated backyard experience. Never seen that before. Pretty creative. Since people were RAVING about the food here that's why I decided to go .. Ordered an extremely large pepperoni pizza , a Greek salad & a hamburger. It was good and disappointing at the same time. The pizza crust was under cooked and since my expectations were pretty high because Of my love for stone oven pizza, it was a big letdown to say the least. How can you undercook a pizza crust in a restaurant ?? I may do that at home but a restaurant should know better ... right ? There wasn't enough tomato sauce for the entire pizza as a whole... it was extremely dry. The toppings were sparse. The Greek Salad feta cheese had NO flavor at all. Probably was the cheapest restaurant feta money could buy. The lettuce was fresh. The salad dressing was all vinegar and hurt my throat going down due to its high acidity. The hamburger was not something I ordered but apparently it was acceptable. Amber was fantastic in every way. She even helped me take the leftover pizza to my car due to the fact that I have a broken arm and had just come out of surgery. read more

Solid choice for a business lunch at this quirky restaurant that looks like someone's backyard with an inside porch, lawn chairs and deck furniture. I was in town on business and met a vendor here and he was local and had never been. I will tell you he was blown away and planned on coming back soon. No appetizers and we had work to do, but I ordered a St. Croix burger and he chose a fish wrap, both with your choice of sides. My guest was amazed from the very first bite, sweating it was the best wrap he had ever had. I thought my burger was uneven, the meat was fantastic, juicy, well seasoned and delicious. The mix of fried banana peppers, lettuce and tomato just did not work the way I imagined, so I chucked them all and just ate the burger. My side of mashed potatoes were fantastic, as was the sweat tea and efficiency of service. Regarding service, if you are in a hurry this is your spot. They don't leisurely address you, they move swiftly to get what you wasn't and get it out quickly. We were greeted, orders taken, check closed out all in a flash. This is now our favorite restaurant in Ocala, which considering the choices, isn't saying much. But, everything we've eaten here like burgers and mac and cheese has been pretty good. I tried this place because I am from out-of-town (and out-of-state) and I love supporting local businesses vs. chain restaurants. The reviews were very good, and I really like how the owner had responded to just about every review. That tells me the owner cares and probably puts as much effort (or more) into making sure a diner's experience is superb. I was greeted promptly and seated right away. As soon as I was seated, I was greeted by a server and I placed my order. He provided some recommendations since I asked, and I appreciated that, and I placed my order. As I waited for my food, I had time to look around. I really like the backyard theme, even the clever way they used a garden hose as decor in the women's restroom. I liked that they had several television monitors as well. They were not on, though. I'm not sure if they show big sports games at times, but if they do, I could totally see myself hanging out here, eating and drinking for college football Saturdays if I lived here. I'm not a big drinker, but when I do drink, I opt for craft beer. It looked like they had some good selections. My food arrived promptly and it was really good! I opted for the Caprese flat bread. It was just the right amount for me versus a full pizza since I was dining solo. I was able to get a glimpse of some of the entrees that other diners ordered, and they looked delicious! The server came and checked on me multiple times, which I really appreciated. I'm really glad I gave Brooklyn's a try. I was in Ocala over the weekend and being that the town moves at a snail's pace, looking for good eats isn't that easy...that is unless you have an inside tool called yelp! I found this place to have some really high rated reviews, but more importantly, it had a whole ton for this area so I decided to take the drive. The place is quite charming, built with a ton of reclaimed wood from farm a ways away; there's even some doors and windows that were also used in the interior design which almost makes you feel as if you're sitting outdoors at a friends place. The place was actually quite busy, with nearly 75% of the tables taken as dinner time was approaching. 4/5 Calypso Shrimp and Mac $14.99 was a great dish with 8 huge sized shrimp sized 21-25 that wasn't over done, perfectly succulent, tender and seasoned enough. The mac that came with it was also good and done right; it also came with 2 garlic toast halves that wasn't dried out. I personally didn't care much for the sweet spicy sauce but that's just me as I did ask the server for her recommendation; just that the sauce mixed into my mac n cheese and now it's become sweet as well. I guess it may be more of a Southern thing? 5/5 Service was a little slow in the beginning but friendly and hospitable. So worth the stop! Hook up with a waiter named, Ryan. What a hoot! He has a great energy. We started with a few cold beers, and a very unique and tasty chili. That was filling! I got the Sally's goat burger with Mac n cheese, very flavorful! He made up a Stromboli. It is huge and so good! I would've gotten a peach cobbler but no room. It's just a cool venue. You get restaurant recommendations from the strangest places - ours came from the service rep at the Honda dealership (Matt). The twins picked out their meals: two slices of meat lovers pizza and a kids portion of meatloaf. Holy mackerel. The portions were huge (see photos). My wife and I each had a burger: Sally's Goat and the Backyard Burger. Wow. It came out fast! What a ton of food! Unlike a smokehouse style place, these burgers were more like fresh off a backyard grill. Two awesome ways of making a burger, this one has the grill style mastered! Brooklyn's has been a family favorite ever since we tried this place! Ambiance is everything here! It's so cute and cozy and the restaurant most certainly has a family feel to it. The service is always spectacular! The food is always delicious! I always take people from out of town to this restaurant because it is such a gem and I think everyone deserves to try this amazing place! I have come here for many family gatherings, birthdays, other celebrations, and even just to have a nice meal on random days. Last time we went here I came with my family and our sever was Amanda, she was absolutely the best! Our drinks were never empty, she knew the menu like the back of her hand, and she was so attentive and friendly. I had the Caprase flatbread it was so good! I normally have to ask for a box whenever I go out but this time I didn't! I ate it all! My mom has the best entree of us all, she had the margarita chicken. My husband's uncle loves this place, so we were hopeful upon our arrival on a Sunday afternoon. We were led to a high top table at the bar and both of us noticed how greasy the floors were. It reminded me of my time spent working at the Publix deli. It was like we were ice skating to the bar. I didn't notice it immediately, but there was an enormous dead roach at the base of our table. Needless to say, I freaked out and we moved to a different table in the corner. We told the bartender and he swept it away and that was it. I ordered the Mahi-Mahi sandwich with mac & cheese and my husband got the Pulled Pork sandwich. I liked mine, it was hot and tasty. Unfortunately, my husband was very disappointed with his sandwich....Everything about it was mushy - the bun, the onion strings, the pork with the cheese. And it wasn't hot. We were en route home from Clearwater and needed some lunch. Yelpers led us here and I'm glad they did. We opted for the Sunday special, a giant cheese pizza and 20 wings. There are few things I like better than pizza and root beer and thankfully they had both. Our boys loved the pizza - I thought it was solid NY style pizza - and we all enjoyed the wings. This used to be our go to, neighborhood pub. We ate here almost once a week, then it changed. I know that we are probably the only people who ever ate their portobello sandwich but vegans have to eat. Yes, they now serve a vegan burger but we would rather have a shop made black bean sort of burger. Not everyone can eat the mass produced ones. That said, they do have excellent fries and beer selection just nothing hearty that a vegan can enjoy. Do know that we always had impecable service and always loved the ambiance. In our travels we always try local establishments because you get unique items and Brooklyn's Backyard was a perfect spot. We were greeted right away and seated next to the bar. Couldn't of been better because the bartender had a great personality and was very helpful with the menu items. Lots of different items to choose. Hubby decided on the meatloaf and I had the pulled pork sandwich- yummmmm. Very well done. Portions were nice for two hungry people and a flight of beers (some local) rounded the meal. Oh, and the rum cake with vanilla ice cream was a sweet treat. The establishment is located in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking and it doesn't have an inviting look from the outside but once you step in it has a great vibe and the decor is really cute.
