We were asked to seat ourselves. Once presented the menu, we ordered coffee and water before deciding what we'll order for breakfast. Having seen their menu beforehand, my wife ordered their sweet potato pancakes with tater tots and I ordered the Tri Omelet with spuds and wheat toast. Service was slooow, even though the place hadn't filled up yet. It took a while to get our coffee and much longer for our breakfast. My wife liked her pancakes which she couldn't finish and had to take home for a snack later. My omelet was good, although I would've preferred more bacon than ham. All in all, food was good but the slow service took away from the experience. Breakfast for 2 came to just over $41 with tip.

Approaching the building immediately sets you up in a nostalgic vibe. Growing up in Florida, these type buildings were the norm. Inside, the decoration did not disappoint. We were back in the 50's, the late 70's, and even the 2000's. We were not looking for a movie set to film anything, we're not filmmakers or anything like that, we're just odd. I ordered the soup du jour (famous chicken noodle) and settled for burgers. I had tried to order different things, but they were not available, which to me is a sign of a dying kitchen. A restaurant with limited options? Hmmm... Because of the constant "It's not available" from the kitchen, I got some free onion rings, but this delay made me so hungry that by the time I got my burger, I forgot to snap a pic. All I can say is that it was nicely charred but mushy. We paid at the front and picked up a homemade cake (sorry no pic). We had to ask for a bigger portion because the slice was very skimpy. Our apps were the garlic knots, mild wings (10) and fried cheese curds with sriracha ranch dipping sauce. Everything was okay, except that it took forever for everything to come out, compared to our first visit. Even our s'mores seemed to take forever. The quickest part of the whole visit was the bill . The fella that waited on us the first time was on point. Not saying that the young lady waiting on us was rude or anything, but I think she was trying to do too many things at once and some things just fell by the wayside. Last visit we came in on a Saturday as well, but perhaps some people are just better at multitasking? I don't know. This time, our bill was over $200 with tip, but we still brought home food again. If anything, the best rule is consistency. If the food preparation is not consistent every time you go to eat there, there's a problem. Northgate wasn't on her list of restaurants to try out but we were intrigued by the positive reviews. From the outside, Northgate was showing its age. The menu indicated they opened in 2002 and it probably needs some updating...including the prices on the menu. The parking lot was quite full...a great sign! Our first impressions were that service was friendly and there seemed to be quite a lot of regulars who dine here as we heard a lot of conversations indicating familiarity. We were told to sit anywhere and we chose a booth. My wife and I ordered coffee and water to start out...their coffee mugs are quite big and they are attentive with refills. I ordered the Western Omelet with home fries and wheat toast and my wife ordered the Farmer's Omelet with tater tots and wheat toast. Breakfast was good with generous portions...both of us took home leftovers which was still good the next morning. All in all, a very good breakfast place (they also serve lunch) that we would likely return to. We thought the value was there. Lunch for 2 less tip was just over $30. The location was clean and orderly and the staff was friendly. The restaurants color theme is red and white and decor was minimal. I begin breakfast with a hot chocolate with whipped cream. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they used real whipped cream, not the artificial stuff out of a can which makes a huge difference. I got the 2-2-2 and upgraded my pancakes to cinnamon swirl with scrambled eggs and two sausage patties. Everybody in my party got the correct order, the food was hot, and delicious.
