3 eggs grits and raisin toast
    Andre D.

Service was good the restaurant was clean. I ordered grits eggs and raisin toast. They do not have real butter. It's Vegetable oil butter. So the grits and the toast had it in it. It can't cost that much more for real butter.

This is my shirt which I had to use as a napkin because I didn't get one.

The kitchen staff fights with the server staff, audibly and angrily. If I were a judge deciding the matter, if it turned bloody, I would hold the kitchen staff responsible for any fights that my break out... Just judging from my seat 7 feet away. One gets the impression that this will probably be the first and last time one will patronize this place as one sits here waiting for his first meal he's ever had here thinking perhaps the Quality of the food may somehow redeem the experience thus far enjoyed. When the food arrived, I felt like I was seven years of age as I think back to when I was a child... We've all been there before asking our parents... "are we there yet? ". "Is the food ready yet?" Either the owner is playing golf somewhere or the owner is on deck and is part and parcel to the problem. As I wait for my food, I'm taking the time to write this review and so far I would say that if you could find a place within 5 miles of here, you would probably not be writing a review, but probably be eating by now. The food has not arrived and I can tell you even if the food is out of this world, I suggest that you brownbag it rather than come here. When I took the photo of my food that you see below: I was fighting off the drool falling down my lips as I waited for someone to pick up the food, bring it to me so that I could eat it. I have not tasted the food as of this writing but come even if the food is out of this world come I suggest you stop at a Wawa And consume a snack before you come here; I'm being serious. If you were a child of the 80s, you might wanna take a look at this show: https://youtu.be/xfq-YSgzKzU I feel like I'm on the set where Mel amd alice Maintain a cynical, snide banter between themselves. Anyway. The food arrived and the sweet potato fries are awesome. The buffalo wrap: perfection. So, why a one star? 1. Unprofessional 2. And disorganised, Sloppy counter area 3. Food food takes a long time to come out 4. The girls are so hard-working but arguing with the kitchen and I blame it on the kitchen staff I heard the argument ...it does not leave one with a good taste in his mouth 5. Either there is no manager, or the owner doesn't care Overall: if you have nowhere else to go, come here in tolerate this. The food is pretty good.

Darrell's purchased the longtime former Aunt Fannie's restaurant as a turn key operation. Because of that it is still basically Aunt Fannie's. Because of their reputation of being open 24 hours , Darrell's has had to expand it's normally simple breakfast menu into a full 3 meal menu. Prices are higher than what they were and portions are smaller. Normally that wouldn't be too bad except that my food was cold and the corn bread sadly stale. Even though they've been open a month now I'm hoping they're just trying to still get adjusted. I sadly watched as their manager either spent her time behind the building smoking or sitting at tables gabbing with customers while her waitresses served her. Oh! As well as sending her employee son on personal errands. I'll return again after they're totally reorganized. After all it is one of the few places that are open 24 hours.

This was "Aunt Fannie's Restaurant" location previously. Darrell's Diner sign from S. Pine Ave (US441) taken 6-13-2020.

This place used to be Aunt Fannies. Would go there regularly. Enjoyed the many menu options. New owner wants to push his politics into my dining experience by putting up a Trump 2020 sign. I just want to have breakfast-- not going there any more. Owner is free to have a political opinion, and I'm free to choose a dining experience without being served a side of politics.

Pancakes ok. Coffee is amazing and customer service is great. My husband ordered the 2 egg breakfast scrambled seems very happy after eating it .

There are a few tables outside, right by the door. There are signs that make it clear they are non smoking tables. We decided to eat inside, were seated right away and our server came quickly. She told us what some of the popular burgers were and we made our selections based on that. I had the Jamaican burger cooked medium. This burger was cooked perfectly, had good flavor, was topped with a sweet and spicy jerk sauce. It was everything that I expected. My friend had the Brie burger and his daughter had the smash burger and they both said those burgers were very good as well. Our server was attentive to our needs throughout our meal. I would definitely go back again.

Tonight was "trivia night", which, while we didn't play, we did enjoy trying to guess the answers. Our grand daughter's face was a big "O" of amazement when realizing the upper tables were enjoying roasting their marshmallows at their table...when she was told they were making s'mores...she went nuts! She's so excited to get tableside s'mores! My wings were even better than they were last time since there was an addition of seasonings sprinkled on them along with the dill pickles, but unfortunately, our cheeseburger pizza suffered from not having enough mustard and ketchup base to it, the tomatoes were enormous chunks and so were red onions. It made it very difficult to eat without things falling all over your clothing since they were such huge chunks on top of the tiny pieces of pizza. My husband got the steak bomb sub, son got a pepperoni Stromboli, daughter in law got the Sharon's Brie burger, grand daughter the child's cheeseburger and fries. Our apps were the garlic knots, mild wings (10) and fried cheese curds with sriracha ranch dipping sauce. Everything was okay, except that it took forever for everything to come out, compared to our first visit. Even our s'mores seemed to take forever. The quickest part of the whole visit was the bill . The fella that waited on us the first time was on point. Not saying that the young lady waiting on us was rude or anything, but I think she was trying to do too many things at once and some things just fell by the wayside. Last visit we came in on a Saturday as well, but perhaps some people are just better at multitasking? I don't know. This time, our bill was over $200 with tip, but we still brought home food again. Not a lot compared to the last time, only 2 little pickle wings (I still can't get enough of those darn things!) and maybe 4 slices of pizza. My husband's loaded tots weren't to his liking, so there's something even for the dog tomorrow We may stay away for awhile and see if they manage to work out some kinks. If anything, the best rule is consistency. If the food preparation is not consistent every time you go to eat there, there's a problem. There should be NO deviation just because someone else is cooking it. All recipes should be the same. Twice we've ordered the same items and they've been different. I still recommend this place for great vibes, cocktails, food and the tableside s'mores. There's just nowhere else like it!

We figured, why not try it and enjoy the town square as well. Well...this place is not really located on the square...not even square adjacent. More like two blocks away from the square. I suppose Diner Two Blocks from the Square would be a mouthful. In any case, we were surprised to see how roomy the place was and quite busy on a Sunday morning. We were seated promptly and perused the menu. We ordered some coffee before placing our breakfast orders. We both ordered an omelet with my wife opting for the Tennessee Pride Sausage and cheese with fried potatoes and a biscuit. I ordered the Hickory Smoked Bacon and Cheese omelet with fried potatoes and wheat toast. Coffee was good and our friendly server, who told us this placed used to be Richard's Place that opened in 1984 before becoming Diner on the Square 6 years ago, was on it with refills. We both liked omelets...my wife liked the sausage and I liked the crispy bacon. Our server who has been working here for 36 years told my wife the biscuits are freshly made and my wife liked their biscuits. We both thought the potatoes were just OK and benefited from added salt and pepper...and some pieces were a bit underdone. All in all, a good breakfast place that regular diners seem to patronize as some of them knew and were known by our server. Breakfast for 2 came out to just under $36 with tip.

Considering the place was pretty busy at 9am on a Sunday. We were told that there was usually a 15-20 minute wait with how they make the pancakes, but we were not in a rush anyway, and really needed coffee first to wake up after rushing due to an emergency phone call at 5am to get to the rehab center where my mom is at close by. Our food arrived in about 10 minutes, Oh, and these are not your granddad's pancakes. These are pancakes on steroids! Delicious and fresh these monsters are huge and more than enough to fill your belly. They have an all you can eat option too! That's nuts! I was ready to be rolled out of the place after my one serving. Our server was terrific, friendly, funny, and attentive. Filled our coffees a few times, brought us ice water, and made our morning a bit more cheerful under the circumstances. Our meals were prepared just right, but those pancakes are the stars here. We ordered the 2-2-2 combo - 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 strips of bacon or sausage, $15, and worth it. As the owners had more of a farm stand and eatery before moving to this spot they have kept that cozy and quaint vibe with the decor and assorted items and jellies for sale in racks by the entrance. Clean bathrooms. The dining area offers plenty of seating with booths and smaller tables, clean and bright. Many breakfast, brunch, and lunch items to choose from. Northgate wasn't on her list of restaurants to try out but we were intrigued by the positive reviews. From the outside, Northgate was showing its age. Our first impressions were that service was friendly and there seemed to be quite a lot of regulars who dine here as we heard a lot of conversations indicating familiarity. We were told to sit anywhere and we chose a booth. My wife and I ordered coffee and water to start out...their coffee mugs are quite big and they are attentive with refills. I ordered the Western Omelet with home fries and wheat toast and my wife ordered the Farmer's Omelet with tater tots and wheat toast. Breakfast was good with generous portions...both of us took home leftovers which was still good the next morning. All in all, a very good breakfast place (they also serve lunch) that we would likely return to. We thought the value was there. Lunch for 2 less tip was just over $30.
