My family and I had breakfast at Darrell's diner this morning and we had a great experience. We had breakfast at other Darrell's locations before, but this was our first time at this location. There were nine of us and we were seated immediately. The location was clean and orderly and the staff was friendly. The restaurants color theme is red and white and decor was minimal. I begin breakfast with a hot chocolate with whipped cream. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they used real whipped cream, not the artificial stuff out of a can which makes a huge difference. I got the 2-2-2 and upgraded my pancakes to cinnamon swirl with scrambled eggs and two sausage patties. Everybody in my party got the correct order, the food was hot, and delicious. We would definitely visit here again. Rating from F to A +++, I give it an A+++.

Classic two meats and a side lunch. Service is friendly. Plenty of close parking. Okay, do I went there for a quiet business lunch and service was very pleasant. The decor is early americana diner, so don't expect cloth napkins and cloth table clothes and yes, your table may wobble (ours did not). My only complaint is that the food took a very long time to come to us. The food was good, but some of the sides were premade, as you would expect, so it was just the main that had to be cooked, so I am not sure what was going on. But the food, what about the food? Potatoes Salad - just like my momma used to make. Coleslaw - good service, nice flavoring. Fries - frozen, they were okay. Macaroni Salad - not my fave. BLT - well made, crisp bacon, nice flavor Smothered Chopped Beef - a special for the day, I thought it was fantastic. I know it is not a super difficult dish, but it was well flavored, as was the gravy on top. Good for a lunch or casual breakfast.

Service was good the restaurant was clean. I ordered grits eggs and raisin toast. They do not have real butter. It's Vegetable oil butter. So the grits and the toast had it in it. It can't cost that much more for real butter.

This is my shirt which I had to use as a napkin because I didn't get one.

The kitchen staff fights with the server staff, audibly and angrily. If I were a judge deciding the matter, if it turned bloody, I would hold the kitchen staff responsible for any fights that my break out... Just judging from my seat 7 feet away. One gets the impression that this will probably be the first and last time one will patronize this place as one sits here waiting for his first meal he's ever had here thinking perhaps the Quality of the food may somehow redeem the experience thus far enjoyed. When the food arrived, I felt like I was seven years of age as I think back to when I was a child... We've all been there before asking our parents... "are we there yet? ". "Is the food ready yet?" Either the owner is playing golf somewhere or the owner is on deck and is part and parcel to the problem. As I wait for my food, I'm taking the time to write this review and so far I would say that if you could find a place within 5 miles of here, you would probably not be writing a review, but probably be eating by now. The food has not arrived and I can tell you even if the food is out of this world, I suggest that you brownbag it rather than come here. When I took the photo of my food that you see below: I was fighting off the drool falling down my lips as I waited for someone to pick up the food, bring it to me so that I could eat it. I have not tasted the food as of this writing but come even if the food is out of this world come I suggest you stop at a Wawa And consume a snack before you come here; I'm being serious. If you were a child of the 80s, you might wanna take a look at this show: https://youtu.be/xfq-YSgzKzU I feel like I'm on the set where Mel amd alice Maintain a cynical, snide banter between themselves. Anyway. The food arrived and the sweet potato fries are awesome. The buffalo wrap: perfection. So, why a one star? 1. Unprofessional 2. And disorganised, Sloppy counter area 3. Food food takes a long time to come out 4. The girls are so hard-working but arguing with the kitchen and I blame it on the kitchen staff I heard the argument ...it does not leave one with a good taste in his mouth 5. Either there is no manager, or the owner doesn't care Overall: if you have nowhere else to go, come here in tolerate this. The food is pretty good.

Darrell's purchased the longtime former Aunt Fannie's restaurant as a turn key operation. Because of that it is still basically Aunt Fannie's. Because of their reputation of being open 24 hours , Darrell's has had to expand it's normally simple breakfast menu into a full 3 meal menu. Prices are higher than what they were and portions are smaller. Normally that wouldn't be too bad except that my food was cold and the corn bread sadly stale. Even though they've been open a month now I'm hoping they're just trying to still get adjusted. I sadly watched as their manager either spent her time behind the building smoking or sitting at tables gabbing with customers while her waitresses served her. Oh! As well as sending her employee son on personal errands. I'll return again after they're totally reorganized. After all it is one of the few places that are open 24 hours.

This was "Aunt Fannie's Restaurant" location previously. Darrell's Diner sign from S. Pine Ave (US441) taken 6-13-2020.

This place used to be Aunt Fannies. Would go there regularly. Enjoyed the many menu options. New owner wants to push his politics into my dining experience by putting up a Trump 2020 sign. I just want to have breakfast-- not going there any more. Owner is free to have a political opinion, and I'm free to choose a dining experience without being served a side of politics.

Pancakes ok. Coffee is amazing and customer service is great. My husband ordered the 2 egg breakfast scrambled seems very happy after eating it .

Now owned by the proprietors of Scrambles, we're glad they kept the iconic name even if there's a new menu. We drove in and parked in the back where there are stairs leading you to a back entrance. We were immediately seated in a booth along Silver Springs Blvd./Hwy 40 and noticed how good the sound insulation was. The place looked clean and new, and our server, who worked for the original Wolfy's for 14 years, acknowledged that the place needed some refurbishing. After looking at the menu, my wife ordered the Southwest Avocado omelet with hash browns ($13.39) (they didn't have grilled potatoes because they were closed for the 4th of July our server informed us) and I tried their Eggs Benedict Arnold with hash browns ($13.29). My wife also ordered coffee. My wife loved her omelet commenting how fluffy the eggs were and how flavorful the sausage, fire roasted corn and black beans were. She also liked the fresh lime cream and avocado slices topping the omelet. The hash browns were meh. My eggs Benedict were good. While the hollandaise sauce tasted good, it didn't look as creamy as the better sauces I've had. The hash browns were not hot and didn't seem freshly prepared...it was our least favorite part of our breakfast. All in all, a good dining experience, although we'll avoid the disappointing hash browns the next time we visit. Breakfast for 2, with tip, came out to just over $37.

Tonight was "trivia night", which, while we didn't play, we did enjoy trying to guess the answers. Our grand daughter's face was a big "O" of amazement when realizing the upper tables were enjoying roasting their marshmallows at their table...when she was told they were making s'mores...she went nuts! She's so excited to get tableside s'mores! My wings were even better than they were last time since there was an addition of seasonings sprinkled on them along with the dill pickles, but unfortunately, our cheeseburger pizza suffered from not having enough mustard and ketchup base to it, the tomatoes were enormous chunks and so were red onions. It made it very difficult to eat without things falling all over your clothing since they were such huge chunks on top of the tiny pieces of pizza. My husband got the steak bomb sub, son got a pepperoni Stromboli, daughter in law got the Sharon's Brie burger, grand daughter the child's cheeseburger and fries. Our apps were the garlic knots, mild wings (10) and fried cheese curds with sriracha ranch dipping sauce. Everything was okay, except that it took forever for everything to come out, compared to our first visit. Even our s'mores seemed to take forever. The quickest part of the whole visit was the bill . The fella that waited on us the first time was on point. Not saying that the young lady waiting on us was rude or anything, but I think she was trying to do too many things at once and some things just fell by the wayside. Last visit we came in on a Saturday as well, but perhaps some people are just better at multitasking? I don't know. This time, our bill was over $200 with tip, but we still brought home food again. Not a lot compared to the last time, only 2 little pickle wings (I still can't get enough of those darn things!) and maybe 4 slices of pizza. My husband's loaded tots weren't to his liking, so there's something even for the dog tomorrow We may stay away for awhile and see if they manage to work out some kinks. If anything, the best rule is consistency. If the food preparation is not consistent every time you go to eat there, there's a problem. There should be NO deviation just because someone else is cooking it. All recipes should be the same. Twice we've ordered the same items and they've been different. I still recommend this place for great vibes, cocktails, food and the tableside s'mores. There's just nowhere else like it!

My friend had the Brie burger and his daughter had the smash burger and they both said those burgers were very good as well. Our server was attentive to our needs throughout our meal. I would definitely go back again.

We both ordered an omelet with my wife opting for the Tennessee Pride Sausage and cheese with fried potatoes and a biscuit. I ordered the Hickory Smoked Bacon and Cheese omelet with fried potatoes and wheat toast. Coffee was good and our friendly server, who told us this placed used to be Richard's Place that opened in 1984 before becoming Diner on the Square 6 years ago, was on it with refills. We both liked omelets...my wife liked the sausage and I liked the crispy bacon. Our server who has been working here for 36 years told my wife the biscuits are freshly made and my wife liked their biscuits. We both thought the potatoes were just OK and benefited from added salt and pepper...and some pieces were a bit underdone. All in all, a good breakfast place that regular diners seem to patronize as some of them knew and were known by our server. Breakfast for 2 came out to just under $36 with tip.
