Always wondered about this establishment because is was tucked into a strip mall. The motif is to create the feeling to be outside in Brooklyn. We were fortune to get a circular garden glass table with pool mesh seats ~ cute ~ full stalk bar and high tops. Service was impeccable! Jason did a great intro and definitely established suggestions that would satisfy our cravings for our first time there. Ordered the "Burnt Ends Mac-n-Cheese" and their "Cheese-n-Steak" sandwich with Mango Salad. (See pictures) "Burnt Ends Mac-n-Cheese" is very tasty creation of 3 cheese mac-n-cheese, tossed with homemade crispy burnt ends, topped with excellent blackened fried pickles ~ (I get the BBQ sauce on the side) ~ it just a great plate of comfort food. "Cheese-n-Steak" sandwich was seasoned perfectly with the right about of grilled mushrooms, peppers, onions with melted mozzarella cheese. Their bread is one of the best in Ocala. The Mango Salad was ok ~ being from SoFl I expected more vibrate flavors when you say "mango" ~ it does have potential All the entrees came out piping hot, ice tea (had "Arnold Palmer's") refills in mason jars constantly were replenished and kept well hydrated. Great spot to stop at if you're visiting Silver Springs State Park! It isn't too far from there. This is located in a shopping mall and I honestly wouldn't have ever noticed it if I hadn't looked it up before. The inside is super cute and decorated like a tiki bar - super casual and they have a fun bar area too. I loved that they had gluten free options! They had gluten free pizza and gluten free buns - so you could get burgers or sandwiches. While nothing is labeled gluten free on the menu (except for the pizza), the server was knowledgeable about what to order. I ended up getting the steak & cheese on a gluten free bun and it was delicious!! The steak was really flavorful and the peppers & onions on it were so yummy. Had a soccer game in Ocala and needed a place to eat. Found this place on Yelp and it had good reviews. We were really disappointed. My wife and I both ordered burgers and fries. We saw someone else with fries and they looked good. Couldn't have been worse. Mine were piping hot which is good but severely undercooked. The insides were just mush. My wife's on the other hand, oddly enough, were cold. They also weren't cooked but what's with the extreme contrast in temperature? Our burgers were just ok. My daughter got the Philly cheesesteak and Mac and cheese. She actually liked hers. Had high hopes based on the Yelp reviews but this was a serious letdown. read more

Each time we've been there, it's been busy, which is a sign of either it's location (maybe all these people stumbled upon it), or they really just have decent food and service. Well, we've had a couple of different things on the menu, but what we seem to come back to, is the pizza. It always seems more fresh than your average pizza chain, and we like it, for our family's meal, rather than a papa Johns or similar. I can remember at back (during the pandemic when almost no one was going out), we'd pick up a pizza from there, too, unlike an eat-in experience, and it was good then, too. I want to say that a large pizza is about $16, but it seems worth it. Our next trip here, I'll post a photo. I believe this is a place that if you don't know about it, you may not find it. It's kinda hidden on the boulevard, because it's in a strip mall type shopping center. But, give them a try, the only downside is that you sit on patio furniture type chairs, but that is the "backyard" portion of the name. Very disappointed because we read the reviews stating that was the best pizza in town. The pizza was overloaded, soggy and had canned mushrooms. My daughter also didn't like her kid burger. She usually ALWAYS eats it completely. I like to support local businesses, but the quality has to be the #1 priority. This place used to be a staple for us but as of late, I can't recommend it. The fettuccini Alfredo used to be so good I would crave it, not sure when the recipe changed but the last three times I've ordered it, it has been extremely bland. The blackened chicken on top used to seem like it was freshly grilled and seasoned, but I just ordered it tonight and it doesn't taste blackened and it looks/tastes like reheated frozen chicken. The mac & cheese used to be amazing and extremely rich, tonight the noodles were kind of dry, and the light coat of sauce it did have tasted bland as well. I loved this place so much with the fun backyard ambiance and consistently great service, but I can't eat flavorless food. Here's hoping someone there sees this and makes some changes! read more

My partner and i go to dinner once a week and try to go places we've never been before. Remember going there a couple years ago. Haven't been back since and now I remember why. I got the Alta meatball sandwich that was a big sub roll with a few meatballs inside with some really bad fries. My partner got the fried chicken dinner that as he put it ,was so salty he almost sent it back. The place was a nice atmosphere and the staff was very friendly . Brooklyn's Backyard is tucked away in a small strip-mall, between a discount department store and a liquor/wine shop, but don't be quick to judge. After reviewing the vast menu before going, we were both still unsure what might tickle our tastebuds, but smelling the burgers as we walked in, our decisions were made ... we just had to decide WHICH burger! We decided to share a Caprese Salad while we perused the options. Although the thick-sliced tomatoes weren't vine-ripe (after all, it's February), the salad was good. Hubby enjoyed a couple of their local beers on tap (Reel Slo Irish Red & Kentucky Bourbon Beer) and ordered the St. Croix Burger with Mac&Cheese. I opted for water (I'm the DD) and the February burger special ... Fireball Bacon Jam (with fries). WINNER!! One of THE best burgers I've had in a LONG time. For dessert (hubby ALWAYS gets dessert), the Rum Cake with ice cream hit the spot! Our server, Johnny, was attentive, personable, and gave great advice on the various options we considered. He definitely steered us right. We are only in this part of Florida for a couple more weeks, but will be making the 45-minute drive back before we head north. Yepper, it's THAT good. Wow!! I am here visiting from Connecticut and came here with my parents. We started off with delicious garlic knots that were clearly not frozen or from a box! Followed by the angry orchard burger cooked medium on a bed of baby spinach instead of a roll. My mother had the wings with a salad and my father the mahi tuna. We have been to Brooklyn's numerous times, ordered takeout as dined in. We are rarely disappointed. The food is quality. The Chef's Specials are always a unique, creative mix of flavors. The beer selection is really good. Look at the almost 300 reviews and see that most people really enjoy eating here. People have off days. So do restaurants. It seems that people would take that into account before leaving scathing reviews. But in our outrage culture where coming up with witty zingers to criticize other's work is rewarded, we shouldn't expect much else. read more

We had dinner here after zip lining, a party of 4, 2 oldsters and the grandkids :-) Fifteen year old had fettuccine without adding meat, it was very creamy but not too thick. She had plenty to eat with leftovers. Also had a Caesar salad, lettuce was fresh, dressing was the right amount. Twelve year old had 10 BBQ wings, four leftover. They were crispy enough, sauce was sweeter than expected, meat was moist. He loved them. We had "The Big Cheese" - garlic bread with mozzarella, it was standard. We also had the garlic knots, they were good, marinara was very good. Hubs had "The Italian" sandwich, liked it a lot, loved the fries, very satisfied! I had "The 'Shroom", a grilled portobello sandwich. It was ok, no complaints. The restaurant is clean, the staff is great (thanks Ryan!), we will be back!!! read more

This place had some of the best burgers! The menu is made up of all types of comfort food which I plan on going back to try. Brooklyn's was the one that caught our attention. This location is adorable and interesting! Plenty of space for multiple parties and clearly a great place for families. If anything you MUST try the Pierogies! Honestly we have never tried them before and don't think anywhere else could ever hold up to how good they were. My partner ordered the pork sand which, which the menu description didn't tell us that it would be an inch thick! The portion was extremely large and the price was so well worth it. I personally tried the special, it was sweet chili shrimp over a bed of pasta. Turns out I was the first customer to order it since it was a brand new creation! It was wonderful, shrimp were cooked perfect and there was plenty of pasta to go around. The owners even came to the table to ask for feedback on each menu item, very sweet couple. Excellent food and service. All the previous reviews helped us to find and choose this place to eat. We loved the garlic knots, which are huge BTW, they were soft yet perfectly browned and a little crunchy on top. Marinara was amazing as well and served hot! Brick city chicken was delicious. The make-your-own burger was delicious and seasoned like my dad used to make. Mac-n-cheese was fantastic and perfectly done. Fries were really the best part! No frozen fries here!
