The staff is great, the pizza was delicious but wasnt comfortable with the layout or patio furniture.

We took a chance here on a road trip based on its Yelp ratings. (We rarely drive 5 miles off the freeway.) in an unassuming strip mall, Brooklyn's Backyard was certainly worth the drive. The menu is huge and varied. We ordered garlic knots as an appetizer and knew we were in for a treat when they arrived. Huge, homemade, perfectly fluffy on the inside (Not doughy) and lightly crisp on the top. The garlic sauce and the marinara were tasty. My 16 year old fussy eater loved his burger. My older son raved about his lobster mac and cheese. My husband wrangled with his super-big crab cake BLT. I thoroughly enjoyed my healthy-ish Mediterranean Chicken. Went here last Friday night! Such a fun experience/atmosphere. It looks just like a backyard with lights and lawn chairs. The service was great and the food was just what I expected based off of reviews from yelp. They had a guy playing guitar and singing jack johnson when I walked in so I felt right at home! I had Not Ya Mamas meatloaf and it was great and so much food (see picture below)! I could only eat half of it. My friend had the Mac and cheese, it was very good. At the end my friend and I had s'mores over a small "campfire" which was a unique experience I've never had in a restaurant! If I'm ever in Ocala again, it will be the place I go back to eat at. read more

We are visiting in town and wanted some pizza for our young girls. The pizza was good and definitely homemade. We ordered the pork fries which were amazing! My husband ordered the meatloaf and said it was good. He loved the gravy the most on the dish. I ordered the caprese flatbread and was disappointed. I love the ingredients on a caprese salad, but the pizza had way too much balsamic vinegar on it. The entire flatbread tasted like the vinegar and it took away from the other ingredients. I ended up eating some of the girls' cheese pizza. The server took the flatbread off the bill. But she never checked on us so I didn't tell her about it till the end. I would not call this a pizza place. The name made us think of NY pizza. I would consider it more a southern restaurant based on the overall menu. Good pizza, but not a pizza place. read more

Pretty good. It probably should be a 3-1/2 star. My chicken breast sandwich was very tasty, but the chicken was not tender. They need to marinate it in fruit juices to tenderize. I went to Brooklyn backyard with my wife and family and was pleasantly surprised. The interior decorations are warm and inviting. The menu was very diverse with a variety of delicious entrées and a host of on top and bottles micro brewed beers. All of our meals were delivered to the table hot and delicious. The wait staff was excellent, friendly and on point. The owner even stopped by to say hi and thank us for patronage. This is a must visit, homegrown, local gem of a place. I arrived at Brooklyn's with a very large group--almost thirty people--and they immediately began seating us as tables became available. The time waiting, however, was not wasted as I spent it appreciating the decor. The restaurant is themed like...wait for it...someone's backyard. Patio furniture, umbrellas, weathered picket fences, indoor/outdoor carpet, and even a deck for the bar area are all part of the experience. And what an experience. The wait staff was quick and efficient. The menu was extensive, ranging from pizzas and subs to flat breads and burgers--all sorts of things you'd cook in your own backyard when friends come over. I ordered the Create Your Own Burger with bacon and onion rings with fries as my side item. I had decided after seeing the extensive theming that the litmus test for this restaurant was going to be the burger. They did not disappoint. I couldn't make one better in my own backyard. It was piled high with onion rings and bacon and the patty was perfectly cooked to my liking. To complete the theme, the Heinz ketchup was in an actual glass bottle...as God intended. The incredible part was dessert. The makings for S'mores arrived on a wooden lazy Susan. Graham crackers and Hershey's chocolate waited while we skewered marshmallows and cooked them over a small fire pot. Best dessert ever and I didn't have to end up smelling like a campfire to have it! My girlfriend loves a good burger and I can't wait to return with her and share the experience of Brooklyn's Backyard. You should get there too! read more

When we travel we look for cool, local restaurants to visit. This one hit the mark and broke up the long drive from Memphis to Disney. The staff was friendly. Our server, Terri, was super attentive and knew her beers. The food was tasty and offered something for everyone from fish, salad, meat, wings to pasta. The craft beer selection offered a wide variety of local brews, and some not so local that were interesting. The only reason I cannot give it a five star is a couple of craft beers we wanted to try were out of stock. They only have craft beers in the pony kegs. Still, definitely worth a try! read more

This place is awesome!! The decor is upcycled barn wood, outdoor furniture and even an old (lacrosse?) field for flooring. But the food is fun as well. There are daily and weekly specials, amazing burgers, pirogies to die for, tasty pizzas and salads, and always something a little unique. The owners are wonderful people. When ever I have company or business guests in town, I take them to Brooklyn's. Not only for the food, but the experience. I have never had a bad meal here. I have tried a lot of the options on the menu, but tend to go back to either the Angry Orchard burger or the Shroom(portabella mushroom) sandwhich. Both are excellent. I absolutely adore Brooklyns! Wednesday night is steak night and my sister and I go almost every week. If steak isn't your thing, try the calypso mac n cheese. Restaurant doesn't seem to specialize in a particular kind of food but everything I've order in my many visits has been very good. What a great place! The restaurant is decorated like a backyard with mismatched lawn furniture and lights. The food is delicious! I like the theme this restaurant is going for but they really got lost in the horrible interior decor that doesn't go together even in the least. But maybe that's whah they wanted?
