What a wonderful place! My friends and I ate there about three days ago. It has great kid menu options, too. The place was packed and I did feel safe eating there. It was just a relaxing vibe to it. This is one of those times I wish there were more than five stars; I waffled between 3 and 4 and just couldn't quite get to 4 but could have given it a 6 or 7 on a 10 point scale. Went here for dinner based on Yelp reviews saying it was good for a quick bite. Granted once we ordered, the food came quickly but it is five miles off the highway (I75) so you will spend time getting there if you are traveling through. We were in and out in an hour. It is located in an unassuming strip mall and is easy to miss (we did) but once inside, the atmosphere is light and fun. Daily food (lunch) and drink specials. Some interesting looking appetizers and a wide variety of food from burgers (but no veggie burger) to pizzas to full entrees. Husband wanted wings but the smallest amount was way too much for one person. The only size pizza is a huge 18" one which we decided to split. Even so, we only ate two and a half slices each. Pizza was good but not the best I've ever had (I admit I am a pizza snob). Crust was definitely New York (foldable) style but something about the cheese was off (to me, husband thought it was very good). Toppings were generously applied. Appreciated that oregano was an available spice- definitely a sign of East coast pizza. Service was friendly and reasonable. Just wish they offered smaller sizes of pizza and wings. read more

Just had my first lunch here. Seema like a nice place but the quality wasnt good for me. Water had black mold in the ice. Didnt drink it. Excellent service and food. The service couldn't have been any better. The burgers were excellent. St. Croix was our favorite by far. Who would think cream cheese would be good on a burger, well it is amazing. We also had the Sally's Goat burger and it was really good but not as good as the St Croix. We had the Calypso Mac n cheese and it was very good also. For dessert we ordered the S'mores. Very fun for kids. They get to make them and toast the marshmallows. read more

Ordered a carryout today at 11:45 for lunch. They told me 30 minutes. I went in at 12:15 to pick up my order. I had to wait another 25 minutes to receive my food and this is after people who came in after me were seated and eating there food before i got mine. Asked to speak to a manager and after telling her what happened all she had to say was sorry. UNACCEPTABLE!!!! By the time I got back to work I had 5 minutes to eat my lunch before returning to work. Wow,what a great find, especially after kayaking at silver springs! We got an italian hoagie. Yes- toasted people and oh so yummy. I should have asked for Italian dressing, but didnt my fault. That would have made the sandwich perfect. It came with a side of homemade fries that were done perfect and not greasy. We also got a side of moms 3 cheese mac and cheese. That alone would have been a perfect meal. We sat outside because we had our dog and our waiter Johnny was more than attentive and never forgot us! I would post a pic but we inhaled our food. Eclectic setting. Looks like a bunch of neighbors grabbed their old tables and started a restaurant . We stopped in for a quick bite. Brooklyn's is a great place to try a huge burger, great wings or an amazing pizza. The full bar is always making really good drinks and the atmosphere makes you think you're at a picnic on a summer afternoon. Doesn't look like much in the strip shopping center but once you walk in friendly atmosphere and nice waitress Rae ! The Rowdy Joe wings are phenomenal and the Angry Apple Burger with brie cheese and apple compote was to die for! Will definitely be back next time we are in Ocala ! read more

We drove through the cute town square to try to find a neat local place and support local biz... well... we shoulda just went to the towns square and stuck w the usual. I was very disappointed with the food here. We ordered a pizza and it was soggy and the toppings slid right off. Also, canned mushrooms aren't cool. We ordered a couple of burgers as well. I didn't like mine at all and our daughter barely ate hers, which is unlike her. It had a decent flavor, but the bun was funky. The mac n cheese had a decent flavor as well, but the texture was very gritty, overly creamy and very over cooked noodles. We spoke to the manager at the end and paid in full as to hope that they change a few things and keep local business alive, but quality and cleanliness of the place is really lacking if they want to keep repeat customers coming back for more. The menu had a lot of variety; Making a choice was tough but our server, Robert, was very helpful. The truffle shuffle pizza was a bit rich but so yummy. I can't even count how many times we have been here. My son absolutely loves the chicken wings with the Brooklyn's sauce. My father loves the fries. I haven't had anything bad from here. I've had the pizza, the wings, the burger, the Philly cheesesteak. There isn't a kids menu per se, but you can order smaller portions off the menu. The Edamame in the Rowdy Joe's sauce can get a bit saucy, especially when you reach the bottom of the bowl. But, I'm sure some people love that. I've had some really great Bloody Mary's from here, and I've had some mediocre ones. All and In all this is a great little spot. If you're going to go here during lunch you may want to make sure you have some extra time because it can get pretty busy. read more

Visited Brooklyn's Backyard today with my family and we enjoyed it! I found this place on Yelp and was impressed by the rating and number of reviews. The restaurant is locally owned with is what also drew me there. We arrived around 1pm on a Saturday and the restaurant was not very busy but tables were filling with families and friends. When we arrived we were immediately seated. They had a lot of local Florida beer selections so I had to order my go to, the First Magnitude Vega. Our server was friendly and provided some great recommendations. For lunch I ordered the smoked brisket and portobello mushroom burger. I asked for it to be medium rare because most restaurants really serve you medium well. Not Brooklyn's. They masterfully cooked my burger medium rare and my hamburger bun was a little soggy. Next time I will definitely order a medium burger so my bun isn't as soggy and it's cooked how I like it! The fries were decent. My dad ordered the flat bread and loved it. Overall this place was pretty good! It was a little pricey but the atmosphere and service made up for it. I will definitely be back when visiting Ocala! read more

Ever dreamed of a backyard dining experience indoors? This is it. Air conditioning and no mosquitoes or ants. The food is delicious and no paper plates or plastic silverware. Comfortable patio dining tables and chairs. Friendly hosts and service. Prices are reasonable. Back to the food, we had the Calypso Shrimp with cheesy mac and the Clearwater shrimp dip which was full of bite sized shrimp. It was all very delicious and richly filling. More than enough for the two of us. The menu and side glances at neighboring table's fare has convinced me to make a return visit. I recommend that you do the same. read more

Was in town visiting friends and working up a huge appetite riding at Santos. Brooklyn's Backyard was close by and had great reviews on Yelp, so stopped in for dinner with the family. Everything was awesome! Kids loved the real chicken tenders and the Angry Orchard and Backyard Burgers are now fam faves. They have a crab cake BLT which was a great take on a go-to classic. Really enjoyed the spinach artichoke hot dip on crostini's seasoned perfect and great start to the main course. The Swordfish with mango chutney was cooked perfectly and the chutney was the right balance on spice, sweet and heat. The asparagus and sweet potatoes sides were also very good. So we yelped a place while driving through and chose this place--SCORE! In a nondescript plaza, the decor is fun. The food? OUTSTANDING! We had the Key West Pork Fries. Slathered in cheese, tasty bbq sauce & (I was told) in-house slow roasted pork, they were out of this world. Stuck with a flat bread but it was also tasty. Friendly service topped it all off.
