I am giving them the benefit of the doubt with 3 stars. I am sitting here still waiting on my food to be recooked. I ordered the Chicken from Cali and was really looking forward to it, instead I was served chicken that was so burnt it was inedible. The truth is that the cook never should've even try to pass that onto me. I sent it back and now I watch my children eat. No one likes to have a meal with their family when they don't actually get to eat together. I will say my daughter loved her spaghetti and meatballs but my sons burger was also burned, he loves burgers but wouldn't eat it. Before my sandwich came out I had the Captains Chowder and to their credit it was delicious. Bottom line, I might have given it a shot again, everyone has a bad day. The ambiance is different and I appreciated that. The waiter was nice and the manager apologized quite a few times, although she didn't bother to offer a discount and for that reason I won't return. Loved this place! The name says it all, you walk in and it's like you are in your back yard. The lawn tables and cute bar area make you feel right at home. Best waiter I've ever had. Attentive and very professional. We ordered the St Croix burger with grandma's Mac n cheese. We also ordered the perogies. It was all DELICIOUS!! Great beer selectiin, too! The burger was cooked perfect and then topped with cream cheese, fried banana peppers,lettuce,tomatoe and some type of jelly. Might be my favorite all time burger. The Mac n cheese took me back to my childhood. Perfect texture and creaminess. Loved it!! Perogies had an awesome flavor and went perfect with the sour cream side. My only complaint is that I don't live closer to eat here everyday!! Recommend highly to anyone in the area. A bit of a drive from interstate, but soooo worth it read more

my husband & I used to go to Brooklyn's once in a while. it WAS a good experience. I felt like some hot wings so I went back today. Today, my experience was awful. My hot wings had very little sauce, so they weren't HOT, at all! They no longer include a side of anything with the wings. They cost about $1.60 per wing! I shouldn't have ordered anything because I could tell this restaurant had changed, and not for the better. The service was good. The food was awful. The waitress said, "We could have tried to fix the issue." No. I didn't want more grief. i can not recommend Brooklyns. read more

My new favorite place when in Ocala. Super cute concept like others have mentioned. Curious if they pass the fire code with all that Plywood. Lol just kidding BBY. I have gone twice so far during my visit. Both times the food was very good for the type of place it is. Eclectic menu. Perogies? Yum and hard to find on a restaurant menu not polish geared. I have not had pizza yet so I can not comment on how it compares to yummy Sammy's NY authentic. I did however have the Birds Nest, Perogies and St. CROIX burger and it was all good. In fact, the Perogies were some of the best I have had away from the midwest where I think they are the best.The Birds Nest did not have an overpowering oily taste that many fried foods do. I really liked that dish but it is not very healthy. HA! The burger was good and my Dad said the fish wrap was very good too. I think the service could be better though. Although both servers were very, very nice the service itself could be fine tuned a bit. On my first visit lunch was very busy. Maybe less tables per server would help. The second time was not busy at 3pmish but still service seemed off for a not so busy time. One of my petpeeves is when glasses are not removed when fresh ones are replaced. Lord have mercy on the MacDaddy Burger... I don't even know where to begin on the fail that is their "Burger of the Month". The patty is seasoned well, but it felt like it had been handled too much before cooking, making it a little tough. Neither burger we ordered was cooked to medium, so that didn't help. But again, it tasted really good--they include minced onions in the meat, which could be the cause of over-handling. What makes it the "MacDaddy" is the fried Mac and cheese placed on top of the patty. This was the worst part... it's this huge mass of battered and fried corkscrew pasta in the middle of the burger. Where was the cheese? No clue. How are you supposed to actually eat this monstrosity? No clue. Did it taste good? Absolutely not. Not even by itself with added salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese. I just pushed it off the burger and chugged along. Without the pasta it was a bacon cheeseburger, which was decent. The park fries are the real MVP. They also ran out of Sprite and some of their desserts on a Monday afternoon. I gave the place 3 stars because they offer lots of specials that could easily become a solid go-to when you want to catch a drink or food deal. The service was "meh". Our guy wasn't rude or anything, but he didn't take the opportunity to truly give us a first-timers rundown of the menu. Just a rushed and simple "Everything's great here" (which is a pet peeve of mine lol). The backyard theme is really cute--executed much better than their burgers. Yes, that was shade. I would eat here again, but stick to their regular food and drink deals. That seems to be why the regulars are there. read more

New to this retail space, Brooklyn's Backyard is part laid back café and part bar. Offerings are 3 pages of craft beers and a food menu of burgers, Italian and the odd Asian & Spanish dishes. I opted for the fish wrap (fresh Swordfish) w/sautéed veggies, which would of been the best wrap in town if only the fish had been seasoned!!! Blah! Saving the wrap was the flavor of the other ingredients....onion, slaw, cilantro, a spring mix and wrapped in a freshly grilled tortilla. Cleanliness was good for the restrooms but fair for the café as there were pieces of food to be found on the ground. Décor was interesting as it is decorated with mismatched used tables, chairs and stools a la.....a backyard. Voila! Service was hit or miss but unfortunately it was a semi-miss for me as I observed all the other servers being congenial and truly part of a team. With only 5 tables seated, I waited close to 10 minutes for someone to run by and ask if I "wanted something to drink". Oh dear. Note to servers everywhere: please greet your guests and show them that you're excited about waiting on them. It also was 15 min. after I finished eating when another observant server (Stacy) noticed I was just sitting there and brought me my check. My server was engaged w/another customer, comfortable on her knees. Props to the management for not cluttering the tables w/condiments until the servers are sure the customer will need them. Of interest are Backyard's daily specials which includes Saturday's Seafood Buckets. It's their take on Joe's Steampots. Unfortunate for me that the sandwich board outside said it was served 4-cl, the chalk board inside said it was served all day and my server said it was served 5-cl. It was 4:30 and I was out of luck. But I saw someone who was eating it and it sure looked yummy. Backyard has only been open 6 weeks so they're suffering some growing pains. Give them a couple months and everything will be smoothed out. Me? I'll be dreaming of those darn Seafood Buckets. The food was really good and the service and atmosphere we're good too! After a unpleasant experience at a popular local establishment, we left just following the delivery of our appetizer. We couldn't decide where to go, but both had heard about Brooklyn's from various friends, so we mutually decided to give it a shot. We walked in and instantly realized that we had found Tim and Janice again after losing touch following them selling their pizza place. We were immediately greeted and knew we were going to love this place. The decor was imaginative, unique and fun and it was abundantly clear that Tim and Janice had invested their hearts and souls into this place. Three months later, we have our "Cheers". We walk in and instantly feel like family and the great thing is, this treatment isn't reserved for regulars; they want each guest to feel that comfortable as evidenced by the atmosphere. We can count on each experience being seamless-excellent food paired with superior service so, before you pass this place up based on a few bad reviews, consider the fact that my husband and I could choose anywhere in Ocala or even switch it up every other night, but we don't. Excellent restaurant in Ocala! Comfortable atmosphere and wonderful food. I went on a Thursday night and immediately grabbed a table near the bar. I had the BEST Rueben sandwich I've ever eaten. The jalapeño cornbread was sweet with just enough peppers to make you tingle. Great beer selection and great service. The owners, Tim and Janice were constantly checking that all customers were satisfied. I weren't back 2 days later and had the Rueben sandwich again. It was just as great. But the real special aspect is their interior it is the closest you can feel like being in a backyard cookout indoors. The ambience was fantastic! The burger was delicious, but my drink was tiny for $8. However, the main reason for my poor review is due to the large table charge we incurred. Our party of 15 was each charged a $5 fee so they got $75 in a half empty restaurant. Ma'am your explanation and the waitresses' explanation are different then. Brooklyn's Backyard is a cool place to go grab a bite (or a beer). I ordered the Mediterranean chicken that came with rice and spinach. It was very good, although a little on the wet side. The pouting appetizer was good too. The table next to us ordered a custom pizza and they said it was excellent. Everything is made to order. The restaurant has a outdoors feel to it. Most of the tables are set up like you would have in your backyard. If you don't like comfy outdoor chairs, sit at the bar or out on the front patio. Don't forget to finish up your meal with the smores dessert. They give you a little stove on your table to make fresh smores. It's the best. They don't do reservations but they do call ahead seating. It gets busy anytime after 6-7pm. read more

Patio, but your in ac, which is great because it was 95 outside. We shared a veggie pizza, it was wonderful, and we took 1/2 home. Pizza with two drinks $22.00. Not yo' Mamma's meatloaf: loaf was basic, the bacon, fried onion straws, white cream gravy and mashed potatoes made the "nothing to write home about" meatloaf a delicious dish. Hubs said he would skip it if it wasn't yummed-up. On the menu it includes a fried egg on top, but Hubs wasn't feeling the egg. Rue-bun sammy: corned beef was flavorful & tender, and had a good moisture level. The staff raved about the Mac-n-cheese as the side, but is was a 5 out of 10. It just seemed a little bland.
