This place used to be good, the location and the view is great tho. (Sad to see what it has become)
I came here on May 13th, Saturday, the reason I mention this is if the owner is reading this, the manager of that night needs to be looked into.
Here was the issue, I love new england clam chowder, if the place has it, I'm ordering it. This place had it, and it was not what I ever had. At first it tasted very sour, and it just did not look right.
- The water was separating from the white sauce, (similar to when you mix water and oil). I kept eating it, thinking it was fine, (don't complaining, since I'm on a date), it was until I could not take it anymore and asked if this was "okay". The waitress took it off the table right away. She said don't worry, I would not be charged for it..
A few minutes went by and I realized it was not fresh at all, nothin about it was, so I asked if it was me or the entire batch.. the waitress came back saying that the chief messed up and put too much salt. "The entire staff tried it, and don't worry, you won't die, it just had a lot of salt"... okay, but salt taste and sour taste are two different things.
More time went by, keep in mind I ate nothing all day, this was my first meal of the day, empty stomach, so what ever I ate was getting digested right away.
I became sick, as in I started to think, I'm not feeling well, if I throw up, where should I aim, (I was on a date, so I am not trying to make this a thing, nor come off as a complaining type in front of the girl I was with), at this point I realize I have to run to the bathroom.
Food goes bad, it's understandable, the chief did not taste it before it went out the kitchen, fine he was busy (even tho it was a slow night). The staff blamed the chief, okay, great team effort.
My problem was how the manger handled this issue, as in he did nothing. After asking to speak to the manager, he finally came over and said that everything will be okay, they threw out the batch completely, because it had too much salt, salt?!?!?
I cook, I know what salt is and what sour is.
- our overall orders were small, simple, we did not go crazy with lobsters nor alcohol (I didn't drink), 2 people, total $60 bill..
After running to the bathroom a few times, I notified the manager again, that I am not feeling well, he said "let me see what I can do", left and never came back, he sent a waitress over to our table (while I was in the restroom), so she can tell us that the "manager" took the two side orders off of our bill, macaroni and chess, as well as baked potato.. He did not even have the urgency to come over and let us know himself, to handle the situation.
All I'm trying to say is, you used to be good, but your management has destroyed your restaurant. The employees do not look happy, nor care, and the manager did not handle this at all, poor service.
If you are the owner, reading this, and DO want to stay in business. Please make sure to overhaul your management department, and educate your staff. Wish you all of best luck, and I hope you become what you were a few years back. Take care, and you will be missed (not the food tho). read more
