I reached out to Kaitlin after being unhappy with my pet's prior cat sitting service, and wish I would have made the switch to Brooklyn Cat Sitting years ago. Kaitlin's level of professionalism, detail and attention in her business is impressive and puts other cat sitting services to shame. I get anxious leaving my cat for any length of time as she is getting older and has a defensive personality, prone to hissing and swatting at strangers. Kaitlin put me at ease by sending daily texts with details of her visit. She also sent pictures of my cat rolling around and playing which makes me believe Kaitlin is a cat whisperer. We used Brooklyn Cat Sitting for the first time on our last vacation in early December and it was a great experience! Kaitlin is wonderful and a definite cat lover. Her updates and photos are adorable - for an out-of-town cat owner they are very reassuring. I felt super comfortable with her and knew our cat was getting great care. We had used another cat sitting company and had a bad experience - the person was unreliable, inconsistent with arrival time, not responsive to texts or requests for updates... all in all it made us feel very uneasy and was an unpleasant experience. My fiance and I are very devoted to our cats, Hank and Buster, and we were so happy to have found Kaitlin! We always get a little worried whenever we leave town - will they be lonesome? what if they get sick? - but Kaitlin put all those worries to rest. She is extremely smart, professional and personable. I am so glad I hired Kaitlin to watch my cat Moose over the holidays. I always feel anxious when I am away from Moose - she's a senior cat with several health issues. Kaitlin took excellent care of her. She stayed in daily contact with me, including updates on eating, medicine administration and interactions with Moose. When I got back, Kaitlin had completed a "Kitty Report Card" so that I had even more detailed information about how things went while I was away. Brooklyn Cat Sitting was great! They are very flexible about key pickup/drop off and worked around my hectic schedule to get everything exchanged seamlessly. They send you an email "report card" with photos everyday, along with a summary of how the cat is and what they did (play with toys, eat, etc). Julie was my cat sitter and she was wonderful. Both she and Kaitlin the owner were fast with communications and made the entire process very easy. At the end it was much less expensive than boarding 2 cats, and also much less stressful. What can I say that hasn't already been said here! Kaitlyn is amazing and so frickin sweet that I squeezed her so tight on our first meeting that I probably scared her. My normally super shy cat warmed up to her after 1 day because she is in fact a "cat whisperer". She accommodated my need for someone on short notice when I couldn't find someone to service my area (people kept suggesting I use Mobile Mutts, but they told me my location in Bed Stuy was too far east, yet they service Greenpoint, which makes no sense). Her website is clear, easy to understand, user- friendly. Her response time is immediate. I left an email at midnight on the website and she responded back at 9am with a promise to come pick up keys by 5pm that night. When her final visit came, she left a handwritten card, kitty report cards, and cute tote bag (that I'm keeping all my handy vet numbers in that she gave us!) And she really does try to find solutions as well if a problem should arise- while we were away in Mexico she text us to let us know she was having problem with our set of keys. I panicked, and called a neighbor, but she couldn't get to our house until later. Instead of calling a locksmith, which would've resulted in another charge, she made a second trip to our house, with the second set of keys and kept trying until she got in! Lesson learned for me! Used this service for the first time last week. Amy texted every visit with new photos of my cats looking happy. She was super nice and professional and didn't seem phased by my fussy and accident-prone senior cat, who was also unphased by Amy. The younger cat actually checked the hallway behind me when I got home, apparently hopeful that playmate Amy was with me. The intake paperwork was a little involved (though I appreciate their grasp of legal liability) and I had a small problem setting up an account on their website (fixed in a few hours' time after I emailed them.) What better time to write a review - having just returned from time away to the happiest cats in the world! I think my cats may like Kaitlin better than me. As a cat mom of two, one of which is challenging to say the least (she was feral & mistreated when I adopted her 12yrs ago from a shelter), who travels a lot, I have tried many kitty sitters and boarding facilities. The only place I felt somewhat comfortable with, and had gotten accustomed to relying on, closed about a year ago. At the time, I was sure this was the worst thing that could happen; little did I know this was a blessing in disguise as it led me to the amazing Kaitlin and Brooklyn Cat Sitting. Approaching a weekend away, I was stocking up on cat food and worrying what to do with my cats when I noticed a beautiful pamphlet for Brooklyn Cat Sitting. I was worried that I would be out of range, so I decided to consult Yelp (two facilities had recently opened near me that provided kitty sitting, so I had resigned myself to trying them). The two businesses near me did not come up, but Brooklyn Cat Sitting did - and thus I began reading reviews that described the type of care I could have only imagined exists. The reviews led me to the website, also beautifully designed, on which I read about Kaitlin's background AND her cats, and it was immediately clear that I had found a TRUE cat lover. I emailed Kaitlin and was thrilled to get a quick response, saying she could accommodate both my location (LIC) and also my short notice (since I had put off the dreaded task of finding a kitty sitter!) Kaitlin sent me a questionnaire that covered eating schedules, daily patterns, favorite toys, potential hiding spots, & more; the nature of the questionnaire, and it's attention to details, put me at ease. She came to meet my kitties before I left town and was so lovely - kind and warm, Kaitlin is a person one cannot help but like immediately. I felt 1000% confident leaving my kitties in her care. While away, I love getting daily reports (& photos!) of her visits with my kitties. I have warned many to steer clear of my often-mean kitty, Edie, but that has not prevented Kaitlin from trying to win her over:) And I think it's working! Thanks to Kaitlin's tips on what may help calm nerves, Edie is now showing more appreciation* (or tolerance) during Kaitlin's visits; amazingly, Edie has never shown Kaitlin the heinous behavior she has shown other kitty-sitters, so I am thrilled! I have hired Kaitlin throughout the last year for amounts of time ranging from 1 day to 1.5 weeks (2 visits/day), and each time I have returned to happy & healthy kitties. I contacted Kaitlin recently with less than 12 hours notice (to attend a memorial) and Kaitlin was able to accommodate. I enjoy reviewing the visit reports when I return home & appreciate notes about few behavioral things for me to watch. I am a new client and hired Brooklyn Cat Sitting to take care of my cat for almost 3 weeks as I went on a long trip. My cat is not the easiest, as he is not friendly to strangers. We wish we had discovered Brooklyn Cat Sitting years ago! Kaitlin is amazing and very good with cats and cat parents. We love how easy it is to request visits online through the client portal. We get an email update after each visit with pictures. Kaitlin is quick to reply to questions and has clearly thought out every detail to make the whole experience worry-free. There are several nice touches that we would not have expected from a cat sitter, but really make the service stand out, such as the daily report card as a nice summary when you get home, an unexpected package that was taken inside from the front hall, a cat dancer present on Christmas morning (we were away over the holiday weekend) and lots of play time. We still sometimes have a nearby friend cat sit for us when we are away, but it's wonderful to have a service that's available on holidays or longer vacations. read more
