WARNING: DO NOT BOARD/DAY CARE YOUR DOG HERE. After being a faithful customer for over a year taking my dog here dozens of times for day care and boarding, we will never be returning or give another penny. Due to occassional humping attempts from my neutered dog that the happy dog staff was incapable of supervising and has known about for months, they decided 5 hours into his 10 day thanksgiving boarding stay that he is no longer welcome and must be picked up immediately. They called/emailed me to inform me while I was on an airplane and thankfully I was able to get my dog in the hands of people who know how to correct an undesired but easily stoppable/coachable behavior. There was no offer for my dog to stay the night until we stated my emergency contact would need time to transport him out of there to another location. The owner, Ien, called me the day before to discuss buck's boarding to verify his emergency contact who was able to get buck out of there within just a few hours that same evening - Ien and I even discussed buck's behavior and mutual concern in making the boarding stay work. However, what Ien failed to mention is my dog was on his final strike with the business and would be immediately ousted if he behaved in such a manner again. Had he been transparent about this, I would have never carried forward (nobody in their right mind would) with the reservation which put both myself and dog in a horrible position and - allegedly - prevented the happy dog business from conducting their operations in a safe manner. After scrambling to call numerous businesses in the area, I also received feedback that happy dogs overbooks their locations, lacks proper spacing for the dogs and is also 'happy' with cutting off customers as brick and mortar locations in Williamsburg will swiftly recieve new customers. I checked the cameras before my dog was "isolated" and the place was completely filled to the brim with dogs barely able to move around - my hunch is they overbooked for thanksgiving and then singled us out as a way to try to remediate. I always thought my dog loved coming here but now feel true concern for how he was supervised and the need to inform other dog owners of their business practices. It's unacceptable that they had this preconceived, short tempered stance on my dog and still encouraged me in good faith to go through with the boarding. I cannot say enough how disappointed I am with this business and encourage all to check out Rover and do your proper due diligence at all times. I was worried that my dog would be nervous and not enjoy being at daycare due to his anxiety but he loves being at daycare and it has relieved some of his anxiety issues! better! We originally checked it out thanks to a neighbor's recommendation, and now multiple dogs on our block are part of the Happy Dogs pack. There are normally a number of dogs staying at the facility, so as long as your dog is comfortable with that level of activity, they'll have a big day and sleep soundly. (Maggie is a social, energetic gal, so she's thrilled to get to play with other dogs all day.) It's a tightly run ship, with an easy-to-use booking system and clear (and strict!) rules that keep things running smoothly. We're happy to have a location in the neighborhood. read more

Update from a long-time customer: after a series of miscommunications stemming from an error on their website. I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a rude employee and the owner (Len) in an email exchange. I tried to offer explanation and feedback to what I found to be an unacceptable experience using their "email first protocol" and faulty website. After what I thought was water under the bridge, an employee politely offered to give me a call to get me caught up on things. I accepted and tried to have a cordial conversation with the person who only wanted to talk over me. In the end, I again decided to simply ignore this and proceed with the booked appointment. To my surprise, I received a follow up email with the owner (Len), who decided that to re-escalate things further by becoming very belittling and snarky. The owner felt the need to make quid-pro-quo remarks and be disrespectful. Need less to say, I was no longer comfortable with taking my dog there as the character shown wouldn't warrant anyone to be responsible enough to care for someone else's beloved pet. Truth be told, I was always uncomfortable with how crowded their facility gets. Dogs look awkward standing around with little area to sit (if you are member and have seen the webcams you may feel the same). Also, my pup would often leave dehydrated with a dark coloration in urine. I deeply regret supporting this business and turning a blind eye to this concerns. I have a large mastiff and many places I've tried are scared to have him because of his size even though he is extremely kind. Our first impression with Happy Dogs is there are no windows, and the smell of urine is VERY strong when you walk in, our second impression, is that won't talk to you, and it only goes from there. And, yet we still gave them a try for an assessment for our dog. The handlers don't play with the dogs, they don't have toys, our small dog was mixed in with much larger dogs, they didn't take her out for a relief walk. And, they poked her in the ribs when she did play!!!!!
