Do not board your animal here. This honest review is strictly based on a boarding experience I had with my 7 month old Doberman Mix who is the happiest, highest energy pup you can ever meet. I left Winston in their care from June 21st - June 28th when I went on a trip out of the country. On day one as I was boarding my flight, I got an email that Winston had injured his back paw and was bleeding while he was running around in the back yard. No one "saw" how it happened or seemed to know the cause (my best guess is he was unsupervised) so alarmed I sent my sister there to check on him and she said he seemed ok. They assured me they'd crate him so he could rest and give him solo play time so he wasn't so wound up (because he loves to play). So I checked in on him in the days that followed and they assured me he was recovering and doing just fine and didn't need to see a vet. When I finally picked him up on the 28th I brought home a different animal. Although he was initially happy to see me, in the car ride home he wouldn't let me pet him. He was traumatized, ears pinned back and low energy. He also had a runny nose and a cold? It was clear as day that whatever happened there affected him negatively and everyone in my family picked up on this behavior shift. He wasn't asking for hugs, kisses or playing. So beyond out of character for him. This lasted for 4 days until on the 4th day I noticed a raised and swollen lesion on his paw that was filled with pus, so I reached my breaking point and brought him to the vet. The vet said it was infected and put him on a topical and oral antibiotic for a week. Mind you this lesion was in a different location than the initial injury on day one. Both the vet and his assistant also observed emotional trauma and agreed that something unpleasant happened at his stay. Then a day later I noticed another lesion on the side of his mouth, also pus filled. I don't know if these were bite marks from other animals or what? I emailed them and asked what happened and they assured me that "nothing happened" and he was just "playing with the other animals". In my email correspondence with their manager they also assured me that Winston was happy and playing with other dogs, but the day I picked him up the person working the front desk said they had issues with Winston being bullied by the other dogs. Two clashing stories - which one is it? There are other reviews here that cite this place as condescending and I have to echo that sentiment. When there are obvious glaring issues and you insist that "nothing happened and he was just playing" and brush it off like you're not accountable it's frustrating. They offered to reimburse me for the vet bill but after thinking about the right thing to do in the larger picture, I'd rather spare a future dog owner of the distress of bringing home an injured and traumatized animal that they then have to seek medical attention for. This just isn't right and they aren't running a safe and careful facility and either people need to know this and avoid leaving their animals there or the management needs to take command and ownership and level up their safety protocols, care practices, and cleanliness to avoid infections. I'd also suggest better staff training and a selective hiring process because there are way to many gaps and leaks in the whole story here. Enough to file a formal and legal complaint. read more

I don't trust most people with my dog and they've proven their experience, expertise, and care, every time my dog comes in. My dog is always hyped to go. Literally cant say enough good things about these folks. They really, really care about my pet. They've taken have animal handling courses. They're on time for walks. Their app for booking services is flawless. Theirs a wonderful feature that gives me a little report of how the walk went as well as a picture w/ a time stamp to show when the walk started. They screen new animals at daycare very carefully to make sure my pet is safe. They keep me updated on my pets vaccination records better than my vet. Everything great EXCEPT ALEX the dog walker! ALEX IS AN ANIMAL ABUSER. I am out of town, I left specific notes on my account stating that my dog is timid, but very sweet. I just got a disturbing phone call from my roommate stating that he abruptly swung our front door open, seen my dog & yelled at him AGGRESSIVELY saying "Let's go". He didn't know she was right there but being she was in our living room, she came out & said "hey, I can help you get him. When you talk to him like that it scares him, you gotta ease in" he gave her a nasty smirk & rolled his eyes. She handed my dog over and he not only snatched him but put him on the ground & yanked him. Being that he is 7lbs that could easily cause damage as he is 9years old! Thank god I don't have a collared leash but a harness because the amount of force he used to pull would have broken his neck! My roommate said he literally yanked him so hard all 4 of his paws lifted off the ground. HE SHOULD NOT BE AROUND ANYONES PETS AT ALL! To add to this, I booked a full hour, not only did he drop him back off in less than 30mins but he put him in the house without taking his leash off & left. I am thanking God he didn't spend another second with him anyways! My roommate said my dog skiddishly ran into the apartment afraid & back leg lifted as if he was limping. I am pissed off because i knew from 2 previous 15second in counters with Alex, I did not care for his attitude. However my roommate literally had to calm dog down & comfort him. My dog has light brown fur so when he cries his tear ducts are filled with dark brown. My roommate FaceTimed me to show me his eyes he was scared as hell as if something just happened to him. *I AM PISSED OFF because Alex still has access to employment with pets when he abuses them!!! *I am pissed off because I allowed an abuser to come into my home without previous knowledge of his actions and was charged for it. *I am pissed off because I was not there to protect him. What's up dog has other great dog walkers like Nicole however if they truly cared about the well-being of pets this wouldn't be set as a disciplinary warning as stated by Martha when I called. All I could get was a "sorry." The correct answer would to be take righteous actions which result in termination for any fair warning of someone abusing an animal when this is supposed to be a trusted & safe place for pets! Ppl make reports all the time about feeling unsafe just to be ignored & later killed!!! I am not only distraught but will be reaching out to building management to get footage of our cameras to see if there was anything that was not seen. He doesn't even map the walks that he does this time & the other few times he walked but he takes a pic of the before pics and & never the after. He leaves a short copy & pasted note that says "all well" which could have been kept. & doesn't even fill the time for the complete time that is booked. My money has not only gone to waste but now I have to worry about how to help my dog now that he has been traumatized by someone who was supposed to be trusted & cared for! This place is great for dogs of all sizes. They really care about your pups. Not once have I had an issue. They've handled over 50 dogs easily and found ways to keep chill dogs together and energetic ones together too. Great COVID procedures. They have a backyard area which means the dogs can sunbathe when it's nice out. I hated the idea of my dog being stuck indoors when it was nice out! It never smelled of foul odors or bleach-like cleaners. They always post on Insta to show how your dog is doing, the report cards are great. And they were great with walks when needed too! read more

Our pup has known all the doggies and the staff at WUD for a little while now and we couldn't be more thankful for how happy she is here. We usually take her during the week so she can play while my partner and I are at work. Her pulling us to daycare in the morning is a good indication of how much she loves coming in. The attention to detail from all the staff as well as the very convenient way to book services makes everything such a breeze and I'm always confident that my girl is in good hands. We get updates from them via their app if she is getting dropped off/walked and we also enjoy their instagram presence and use that to see if there are snippets of her during the day lol. The staff here are so kind and knowledgeable. I love seeing them react with joy when we walk in the door, they know my dog right away. They've taken great safety measures with reopening during Covid, and I always know my dog has a nice time there. Plus they post really nice pics and videos on their instagram, I love to look at those. I've used a few different doggy daycares over the past 6 years of being a pet owner, but this one is the best. I know I can trust What's Up Dog- my dog is also not a social butterfly- but there is space for her to do whatever she wants while she is there- which usually means laying on a blanket and coming out to say hi every once in a while. read more

My dog Mars goes to daycare every day here and he has the time of his life. The employees here take such good care of my little Mars and they love all of the dogs so much. They post a lot of the pups on their Instagram stories and it always makes my day when they post my dog so I can see how he's doing! At the end of each week they give me a "report card" on Mars' week - so, so cute. They also can pick up and drop off my dog from daycare on work days I don't have the time to walk him over in the morning or have to stay late or I want to do something after work. They use an app called Scout that notifies me when a walker has arrived to pick Mars up and drop him off and also allows me to easily schedule walks, pick ups and drop offs. What's Up Dog has made my work week a lot easier I can not recommend more :) read more

They use an app that gives you full transparency Into your dog's walks, even giving you the route they went on. Siah, Leah and Michael go above and beyond for your dog. I moved out to Bushwick within the last month, and they've been so welcoming to me and my dog Jackson, and taken the best care of him. He has the opportunity to go on social walks, and making friends with neighbor hounds has been great for him. Their integration of the 'Scout' app is amazing; they send detailed report cards, photos and route maps so I can see how the little guy is doing, and also mimic routes that he enjoys with them on my off days. What's Up Dog is an honest, responsible choice for doggie daycare. My pup has quite bit of anxiety when it comes to being separated from us and being around other dogs. The owners actively listened to his care needs and gave us great feedback on his stay at daycare. he had a great time, and has even become calmer around other dogs on his leash and in social situations! We had to place him in What's up Dog's care when he was having some health issues and needed to be looked after at all times.
